My 2 children attended School 16, Doyle Middle School (now Troy Middle School), and graduated from Troy High school. My son went on to graduate from Cornell University and owns a local business. My daughter graduated from Syracuse University and Albany Law School. She practices locally. I say this because at the time of their attendance at TSD the education they received was beyond reproach.
The sports programs were exceptional. The music and arts programs were on par with any of the suburban schools. There was parent participation and community support.
TSD experienced bullying, fighting and drugs. Times have changed but these problems persist, as they do at all schools - city or suburban, private or parochial. These problems are not just a school problem - they are a pervasive community problem that exists across our country.
My grandchildren now attend TMS and THS. The education they receive is still beyond reproach. The sports, music and arts programs are still exceptional. Parent participation and community support is still evident.
I said it then and I say it now-I believe in the Troy School District. It offers students one of the most outstanding education opportunities in our community. read more
