We're used to toddler pizzas being thick with sweet tomato sauce and showered in plastic cheese. This was balanced and considered.

Yes, it's cliche, but order their fish and chips and you won't be disappointed. The pub owner and his sons are some of the nicest people you could hope to meet and made us feel at home. We ended up sitting at the bar, playing "Brain Benders," and having fabulous conversation. We will be back every time we are in Devon. This place is worth going out of the way for.

It is not very big, so you need to book in advance. It is very much worth a visit. I have eaten here many times and it has always been fantastic. The service is very warm and welcoming. There is a brilliant choice of food on the menu, so something for everyone. They always have a good choice of vegetarian food too. I can thoroughly recommend the inn.

My husband had Bangers & Mash with crispy onions and my teenage children had yummy burgers. They have two lovely gardens and the Inn itself is16th Century with thick stone walls, slate floors and a really relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Children are welcome in the dining areas and the garden as well as friendly dogs. If you like Sticky Toffee Pudding -- my absolute favourite pudding -- then get it here. It's brilliant and served with a dollop of clotted cream on the side for a few more calories if you need them!

Hopefully if I try again it will be a bit nicer. Too bad, this place had potential!
