    Almond praline

We came for a pre-dinner dessert since it closes by 8pm, and thank god we did! It was a perfect way to stay cool as we strolled around the streets of Christiansted. It's pretty standard ice cream and a bit overpriced, but they have some cool flavors (local sorbets) and cones that I hope to try next time. Almond Praline: Love the little bits of almonds and praline mixed in, and overall not too sweet! I like nutty ice creams and this was pretty good. Cookies & Cream w/ Toasted Coconut Cone: Pretty standard Oreo-like ice cream, classic flavor but the cone was interesting!

Mint chip on a cake cone

Cute little ice cream shop that offers ice cream, smoothies, cake, and a few hot foods. Service was good, place appeared clean. My mint chip on a cake cone was light and creamy with enough mint to satisfy and not overpower.

Enjoying our cones across the way

This is probably the worst $7 ice cream I've eaten. The ice cream tasted old and I wouldn't have paid more than $2 for it...go elsewhere.

There is a beautiful outdoor dining courtyard option. Inside is open concept where you can see the chefs preparing the food! Our severe was phenomenal and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. Speedy and attentive and just so friendly. For appetizers we had the Octopus, the baked Brie, and the Conch Ceviche with fritters. Truly each of these dishes had something special about them and were all FANTASTIC! Presentation, texture, flavor all amazing. I still think about the Brie five days later writing this review. I wish I took more photos! For entree I had the steak. It was a New York Strip with house made chimichurri, and a sweet potato mash. Wow it was the best steak I've had in a long time. All the flavors on the plate complimented each other so beautifully. Again, I wish I took more pictures!! Dessert was a delight all on its own. The Crème Brûlée was smooooooth as can be. Not a single lump or bump. The plantain foster really did steal the spotlight on the dessert. It was warm and gooey and flavorful and perfect! There was some foster sauce left over that we ended up mixing with some crème brûlée and it was heaven. One of the intriguing aspects of this place was the chef was on the TV show 'Beat Bobby Flay'... iykyk. I definitely can see how he beat him. If you're on STX it's a must that you dine at 1756 Grotto! I will 100% be returning. More pictures next time ;)

Everything we had was delicious- the goat bolognaise, fish and chips with yuca fries, and fish special. We ate every bite! And then we got the plantain foster for dessert and the caramelization was absolute perfection. I would come back just to have desert in the charming courtyard (which is also set up for live music).

It took a while for the hostess to come over to attend our reservation and help us get seated. Its a large and lively space with inside, outside and courtyard seating. Once seated inside, the server too took a while to attend to us. We ordered Mussels for appetizer and it was absolutely great. The broth was tasty and the mussels were delicious. I had the love potion and it was a very delicious drink. My husband didnt enjoy his old fashioned as much and mentioned it didnt have the required sweetness. For dinner we ordered salmon that came with mashed potatoes, cheese burger and plate of ribs. My son thought the burger was one of his favorite gourmet burgers ever. The salmon was well cooked and had a good crust but could have had a little more flavor to it. Feedback on ribs was that it was just okay. We had to be somewhere for an appointment after the dinner and thought that 90 mins was enough to finish dinner but the service was going a bit slow...we ordered few desserts to carry out and they were out of an item, which meant the process took a bit. It seemed like the server was trying to keep up but it was very busy and the space being so large meant she had to go a longer distance, so I sympathize with the time taken, but made us anxious. They also seem to have one restroom for that giant space and that was causing a lot of people to just wait in the hallway for what seemed forever, to use the restroom. Overall food is good but pricey, service could be improved and another restroom should definitely be figured out.
