The building itself is a grand Grade II - listed Georgian building, albeit including parts of a much earlier building. There are 9 bedrooms, a lounge, a bar area, dining room and a large conservatory dining room, all decorated in the classical wood-panelled style of a country house.
There is a full bar with a changing selection of real ales, and an extensive food menu of modern British classics; starters, nibbles and sharing platters are priced from £5.95 to £11.95, with a Sharing Antipasto of chorizo Iberico, salami, serrano ham, burrata, olives, hummus, and puccia bread for £19.95. Mains range form £14.95 to £19.95, with premium 8oz sirlion steaks at £31.95.
Our visit was on a Sunday, so we enjoyed the Sunday roast (£16.95); my partner had half a chicken, and I had the vegetarian Mushroom pie with red wine gravy. Both came with roast potatoes, roasted carrots, seasonal greens, and a Yorkshire pudding. Service was reasonably swift, though staff were a little slow to clear adjacent tables. But the food was good and well cooked, so we would happily return. With (soft) drinks, water and service, the total came to £55.
We plan to return at some point to explore the full menu!
