Twenty years ago, I ordered some custom embossed William Arthur stationery from a store on Brookside and was hoping to give my son a matching set. That store is no longer in business and William Arthur has since been purchased by Crane. To further complicate the issue, the style I wanted to duplicate wasn't offered anymore due to cutbacks caused by COVID. However, with determination from the helpful staff at The Inviting Place, negotiations were made with Crane and I was able to custom order a set of stationery made with unique tools created just for my order, thereby helping me achieve my goal of giving my son matching stationery that he can proudly keep unused in a box for the next 30 years because his generation doesn't know how to write and mail letters. Well, I may be disappointed in my son but I am very happy with the service at The Inviting Place.

I had a very disappointing experience at Grant's Frames. I brought in a one-of-a-kind acrylic…read morepainting and was prepared to spend about $800 on framing. Because I chose a floater frame and the white canvas edges would be visible, Grant suggested covering the edges with black tape for $25. Because the painting is valuable and irreplaceable, I specifically asked to see the result before committing to the framing. Grant seemed irritated by the request, but agreed. He applied the tape immediately, with my assistance, and the process took only a couple of minutes. Three sides looked fine, but one of the longer sides still had a clearly visible section of white canvas. When I pointed this out and asked if it could be corrected, Grant said it could definitely be fixed--but that he would charge me an additional $100 to do so. I found this particularly troubling. I had been quoted $25 for the tape application in the first place, and there had been no indication that correcting an incomplete application would result in an additional charge. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable entrusting him with an irreplaceable piece of art or proceeding with an $800 framing job. I took the painting to another local framer, who told me that taping the canvas edges was not an appropriate long-term approach because the tape could curl or peel over time. He recommended painting the edges instead. Grant did offer to refund the original $25, which I appreciated, but I declined. In retrospect, I'm glad the issue arose before I committed the painting to the full framing job. What began as a simple $25 finishing step left me questioning both the workmanship and the pricing, and I ultimately took my business elsewhere.

I dropped off 5 watches for the batteries to be fixed, expecting them to get done by the next day which was Saturday. I called Saturday afternoon and no one had started working on them. When going to Ewings they replace them that day and it takes about 5 - 10 minutes for each one. I just wish there was more communication and there was no dog poop on the mat...I love dogs but when going inside a business, the first thing I do shouldn't have to be going back outside to try and get that off my shoe....

I was met immediately by a seamless and easy jewelry sale experience. I stopped by the shop, apprehensive because I had my kids in tow, but as soon as we walked in, a Tv show was placed on for them to watch. They had a kid-friendly area complete with toys and complimentary drinks. This local shop has thought of everything for customer comfort. I got to speak with John and he even increased his initial estimate, so I walked away with more than expected which was a delight. The real gem was how kindly we were treated (like one of the family)! Everyone was so genuine. I've worked in the customer service industry for 10+ years, and it is evident John and his family really care about their customers. They took my kids behind the counter, handed them a black light they got to use to illuminate some gems, and even let them pick out 2 gems to keep! It was the highlight of their week! When I mentioned they are homeschooled, John said any time if they ever have any questions about gems/rocks to bring them in! Thank you John and Family, you earned customers for life by us. I would recommend stopping by the store for transparent, fair pricing, and outstanding customer service in all jewelry needs.

I didn't hear anything about my for repairs/adjustments until July 14. Two full months later. I didn't know if that's just how things went in Tulsa. But then I received a phone call asking me if I wanted my jewelry back. I thought that was a really weird way to let some one know their jewel repair was done so of course I hop to it and drove out there right away to pick up my repairs..... Having three charms put on a charm bracelet cost me $90. That was well done, but super pricey. One piece of jewelry that I sent in for cleaning and a small clasp repair was returned to me exactly in the same condition that I left at saying that they "don't work on James Avery pieces". Ironically, the charm bracelets were James Avery and the jewelry piece in question was not. So that made zero sense at all. They didn't even bother to clean it. No charge, but WTF? Finally my pearl restringing was done very nicely, however I had to ask about the job and they spent about 20 minutes searching through bins and shoeboxes and drawers and finally they found it. I will not be going back to Moody's or any of its offshoots and I will have to find another jewelry store in Tulsa to meet my needs. Sad.
