Arriving by car the chance is high that you will park your car here at Tronchetto. It's safe and relatively cheap (21 Euros per day).
You will be approached by people offer you services to get to town. From people with carts trying to "help" you to get to the People Mover train or other folks offering expensive private water taxis.
If you don't mind to carry your luggage though you should ignore these offers. Head to this Water Bus station here, it's just a few steps from the parking lot. You can buy tickets at the lower level of the parking or directly here at the station. It's the cheapest and easiest way to get to the Piazzale Roma, Ferrovia (main train station) or further. Direct line. No changes needed. Just take the Water Bus No. 2 and you are set.
We arrived at Ferrovia in no time. Easy to get in and out with luggage. Our dog could even ride the water bus for free (muzzle needed though).
We will do the same thing again when we're back in Venice one day by car. read more
