Our son was at Triumph for just over a year - June 2024 - July 2025. Our homelife had become unmanageable and we felt like we were going to lose our son. He was drinking, stealing, smoking weed, and had lost his ability to be respectful within our home. He also had a strong electronics addiction. We looked at several programs all over the country. We read tons of reviews (both good and bad) about all of the places we searched. My suggestion is to reach out to the program that you are considering and ask for parent referrals - then call them. We credit Triumph with saving our sons life. His behaviors and addictions had become completely out of control and dangerous. There is not a perfect program out there- but there are different levels of honesty and caring within each person and program. We got off to a rocky start when our boy and some other boys tried to get out of the program by collaboratively crafting a fictional narrative and falsely accusing some staff of being abusive and dishonest. We were terrified. Dan - who is one of the directors of the program - worked tirelessly through a complete investigation and was an amazing, available, communicator A few weeks later - our boy admitted it was all a hoax to try to come home. Over our son's time there - I eventually became genuinely good friends with everyone who worked there. My wife and I tried to stay as involved as we could with our son. We cooked a meal for the house with our son in the Triumph kitchen. We bought pizza for all of the boys and staff. We visited 13 times over the course of his year long stay. I can offer - without a doubt - that Triumph is a group of caring hardworking honest professionals. There is too much to say in a review when it come to methodology, but I will say the they use a combination of the book "7 highly effective habits of successful teens", combined with their own developmental phase work. This is all supported and reinforced with individual, group, and family counseling. We had two excellent counselors (Nicki and Crystal) and always felt like we could reach out. Our son graduated the program, and graduated high school during his stay. I will be forever grateful for the honest, caring support that we received. It is a strict program. There are no student phones and yes the boys get a very short haircut upon entering - then they have to earn privileges and longer hair. There is a high level of personal and group accountability built into the phases. The boys are allowed two calls home a week to start- then earn more as they go. Triumph does have its own challenges - they serve a wide array of diverse behavioral issues and this can be alot at times within a confined environment - but I trust them. And i believe the diversity was good for our son. Tom and Bruce - two of the owners - both still work shifts as administrators and are both genuine, kind, honest people. Dan is remarkable. He is the main point of contact for parents. He has a giant heart and was completely invested in our son and us as parents. I dont know that I have ever met a more positive patient person. Our son is about halfway through the program at TYS. We tried to avoid outpatient therapy for so long, but when we finally made the decision, we knew from the 1st day we had chosen the right team to help heal our broken family. In our hurting world of high pressure schools, out of control online "relationships", vaping, weed and other negative influences that very young teens can fall prey to so easily, it has been like a warm comforting blanket to have the Triumph team wrapped around not only our son but the entire family. read more

If it's one thing I can say about this god awful place is that it will mess your child up. I graduated back in June of 2021 and while I was in there it was hell. We couldn't talk to our parents or anyone else for 2 weeks not to mention they would shave our heads when we first got in there. The food is absolutely horrible and when we would complain and ask for them to change it (BECAUSE KIDS WERE GETTING SICK) they refused and brushed it aside and would tell us they would change it and they never would end up doing so. The counselors would be biased and play favorites and neglect the other youth within triumph. Kids would get restrained for going in their room because they were upset and needed time to cool off. Kids would get held back in the program because we didn't change how THEY wanted us to change but failed to see the major changes we strived to make within ourselves. Coming out of triumph I realized that I learned nothing and became very socially awkward and started to distance myself from things that I loved doing. I will always be traumatized by the way that I was transported to triumph. They woke me up at 4:30 in the morning and threw my phone on the bed when I tried to grab it and proceeded to aggressively grab me and force me into a car. During the ride they said no word I asked questions and they said nothing to me and for me I was only 14 at the time so imagine the pressure and fear built up. Kids are never going to be perfect and kids are going to go through hard times parents please listen and believe me when I'm telling you this, triumph youth services is NOT the answer. Talk to your kids, be there for them even in the hardest of times because sending them away to the same people that claim to fix your child's problems end up doing more damage to them than good. read more

The painful decision to send our twin boys to a residential treatment center was made after we had tried everything we knew to curb their bad choices and behavior which was both destroying their lives and ripping our family apart. Choosing a residential treatment center was as daunting as the decision to send the boys away; each boy in need, but with different personalities and problems. We didn't know how to choose the correct RTC. We chose Triumph. We spoke and visited the boys often. We were surprised and relieved that they weren't miserable or begging to come home. We quickly saw changes in both boys. Expressions of gratitude for even the most basic things replaced their strong attitudes of entitlement. This was just the beginning. One of the many things that distinguishes Triumph from other RTC's, is their willingness to think outside the box. No two kids are alike. Weekly team meetings are held to tailor make the best possible program for each child. Getting through to teenage boys is more of an art than a science. What works for one child doesn't necessarily work for another. The beauty of Triumph is that they do not take a "cookie cutter" approach to the needs of their residents. They quickly figured out the difficult challenges our children presented and with very different approaches began to shape both their behaviors and way of thinking. When one approach didn't work they tried another. They listened to parent input, and together with their knowledge and expertise, team decisions were made and progress was revealed. Another one of Triumph's many distinguishing qualities is the limited number of students they enroll at any one time. Opting to keep the student body low allows the owners, administrators and staff to involve themselves on a very deep and personal level. While they certainly could accommodate more youths the fact that they intentionally choose not to run their program that way speaks volumes about their commitment to helping these kids. The icing on the cake to this amazing RTC is the dog program. The boys are given an opportunity to raise Labrador Retrievers as puppies. For many of the boys this is their first experience being responsible for anything other than themselves. In an emotionally supportive way the boys are taught commitment and responsibility. When speaking with other parents at the parent conferences they all had the same trepidation's as we did sending our children to an RTC. They also had the same positive experiences and progress that we saw. Our backgrounds were as diverse as our kids, but our positive experiences with Triumph were the same. One of our children graduated the program and came home a changed, motivated and respectful young man. He doesn't resemble the impulsive, immature boy we sent away. It has been almost 3 months and I view the change as permanent. Our other boy is graduating the program this weekend and he too shows signs of remarkable change. Triumph calls every student and their parents "family for life." When one of the owners came to our home several states away to see how our graduate was doing I knew these weren't just words. The administration, therapists and staff give parents their cell phone numbers and are immediately responsive to questions and concerns both while the children are residents and after they come home. Why? Because they truly care. Local school district staff have confided in me that most RTCs are not like Triumph in all these special ways. Triumph is a hidden gem. I have asked each of my boys separately whether they whappy they had the Triumph experience. While each stated that they wished they hadn't needed it they both independently acknowledged the benefit and that without it they never could have learned or become the stronger, focused and motivated people they are today. Sending our children to Triumph not only benefited our children, it allowed our family to heal. While the kids away gained self awareness and learned coping tools our family at home had time to learn and grow as well. Triumph taught us through counseling sessions, parent conferences and by way of example how to lovingly and consistently set boundaries for a successful reunification of family. I have zero regret about sending either child away, and I cannot imagine a better choice than Triumph for this or any other family. I believe in paying it forward. That is why I am writing this review. I hope it will be helpful to parents struggling with the very difficult decision to send a child to an RTC. read more

Heath Bohrer here, got sent here by my parents who had good intentions and thought it was as advertised. Unsurprisingly due to the fact that all the information comes from an outdated website that isn't regulated and cannot be fact checked, most of it is wrong. They said health codes were up to standards despite the fact that I swept a dead mouse out from under the fridge, which was solid from how long it had been there. They believe in punishing the group for one person's actions, there is no freedom of speech or religion, you're guilty until proven innocent (not to mention guilty by association), and the higher ups such as Daniel Gladden will lie to your parents to try and minipulate them. I had a psychiatric evaluation done which found that I had high functioning autism, and recommended that I attend a college prep school that specializes with such people. Fun fact, on my way to visit one of the campuses right now. My parents, hearing this, decided that I should come home and start looking at schools, however dan and the "treatment team" pushed against this for quite some time. When my parents finally said that they had no say and they were pulling me, they gave in. My parents informed me that I was coming home. Not shockingly, Dan told me that this was all his idea, and he had looked at several schools for me to go to and he's really happy for me. Fat cap. Once I was home I talked to my parents about this stuff, and they found a bitter humor in it. Once they told me their side, my only response was "ah, classic dan." Another fun dan story, he put one of my friends on run risk, because he refused to do his phase work that dealt with drug problems because he believe he didn't have any, as well as identifying his higher power, that he didn't believe in. They claimed they weren't sure what kind of headspace he was in. Right. Back to some of the program flaws, all of the staff and admin press on you to live your habits, however they themselves can't even follow them. The only thing that can make this place work are the staff who do care about you, which is few, and the support of your friends. People such as John Lozinger, Sean Werner, Alex Jones, and James Evans Vranesh are the reason I was able to live day to day in this emotional hell and keep a somewhat positive attitude. The sweet irony of their emotional treatment is how they say they don't want you to bottle up your feelings, but saying anything negative about the program - which could be as simple as saying "this food sucks," - you have to serve 4 hours, sitting in a desk, facing a wall, and not talking to anyone. Realistically it's much longer than 4 because you can only serve hours after 3 P.M. and hours don't count during dinner or any other time you're out of your desk. I could go on forever, but I'm sure no one made it this far, and all of the parents about to send their kids here will only look at the positive comments, hoping to affirm their decision and boost your confidence. If by some chance a parent is reading this, keep this in mind; this is your kids life, and if they don't want change you cannot force it on them, and secondly, talk to your kid. Approach them about this idea and look to find solutions together. I promise we're often times more willing and rational than you give us the chance to be. read more
