You'll get heavy, focused, no-nonsense training for power, mass, strength and supreme fitness. It's a good gym. Period.

Don't be put off by where it is (behind some derelict houses) or how it looks from the outside (an abandoned cinema), this place is a real treat. This is a working mans club, so you'll need to be either invited, or join, or else attend a private function to get inside and have a nose around. Once inside, however you manage it, you will find yourself in a welcoming, friendly environment with a cheap bar and comfortable surroundings. The bar is fairly well stocked and there is often a selection of snacks, cobs and sandwiches to nibble on. Trust me, when you buy a round of drinks and get your change, you'll think you're in 1978. There is also a snooker room with 2 full sized tables. You can play (if the tables are free) using the cues provided and by putting 20p in the light meter - there is no charge for the table hire. So in conclusion, Stirchley United Working Men's Club is pretty much the same as most working men's club, apart from once a month when it becomes something extraordinary.

If you've ever been inside a working men's club then you'll know what to expect. If you haven't been inside a working men's club then you simply need to watch an episode of Phoenix Nights. Usually - i.e. when the market hasn't taken it over for the afternoon - you'd need to either be a member or be signed in by a member to enter the building, so visiting when the market is on is probably your best best. Inside there is a fairly large bar / function room with enough chairs and tables to comfortable seat 150 people (this is a guess - it may well be more) and there is a large bar that is well stocked and cheap as chips. There is a small stage in the corner that is used during the market by DJs and acts. Off from the main room there is a smaller bar that I've not yet been in. Overall the place is friendly, clean and welcoming and if you live in the area it's probably somewhere you should have a look at. You may even want to consider joining it as it provides a welcome alternative to The Three Horseshoes

I've never played snooker and actually enjoyed it as much as I did when I went to this place. It's full of avid snooker lovers who really feel passionate about the game; but there's also people in there who are like me, that would just like to have a bit of fun. I like the fact it's not too big like some of the other major larger establishments and it also doesn't cost as much as some of the other places. We managed to play a few games and also have a few drinks, all on our budget of about £50 between the 6 of us. It is a large hall and can be relatively empty at times. I've played snooker here quite a few times and you find that you can be immersed in your game, uninterrupted for hours. It has a lot of loyal customers from around Stirchley, so there is lots of camaraderie and great deal respect for the club. You'll rarely find any nonsense going on there. Essentially, It's a friendly local with lots of snooker tables. I've watched an England game there, and on one of the occasions where we actually won a match, me and my mates played snooker all afternoon in celebration of a very rare victory.
