Hired TruGreen to aerate and seed front lawn because had many bare spots due to trees being removed…read moreand stumps drilled out. TruGreen used aerater and supposedly seeded after that. I didn't see many aeration spots nor seeds. Left verbal instructions to not mow for two weeks, wasn't given any paperwork or instructions. After two weeks nothing to mow so bought and spread seed. Only seed that germinated was what I bought and spread. Called company a month later and was told that we were to water for 21 days...never told that. Actually rained a week straight so it didn't need watering. Then assured that someone would come out and look. Noone came, SO...Called again a week later, and again assured that someone would come out to look. Someone came while I wasn't home but left 2 bags of seed and a note saying "noticed your newly seeded areas may need more water" with recommendation to "water 15-30 minutes daily for 3 weeks." I called again for someone to come out and re-aerate and re-seed bare spots only. Promised that someone would come out in a few days. Noone came. Telephoned company and told that I wasn't even listed as a customer so noone would be coming out. They never delivered anything they promised! What a waste of $340!!! They totally took advantage of a senior citizen! Didn't deliver anything promised, lied on phone, and took no time to call or stop by to discuss problem. Hire someone else!

He installed a fountain, that works great, tore down our deck and built a new one, and reworked the landscaping all around the house, creating what was supposed to be a maintenance free installation. Everything looked great. However, when the projects stopped being huge, Cody started to be much harder to get a hold of. We were pay as you go with him. If he determined that our money ran out, he wpuld stop working. Fair enough. But at about this time, we would send a payment and he still wouldn't show. We hired his company to maintain his installation (weeding, etc.) His worker showed up a couple times and then stopped. At about the same time, Cody completely disappeared, leaving a number of items undone, some of which we had paid for. The lowest step off our deck is still two cinder blocks instead of the flagstone he promised. He said he couldn't find it anywhere, but offered no solutions and then disappeared. And the "maintenance free" landscaping? Not so maintenance free. He lay down a black base that was to stop all the weeds, but the border around the house is as weedy as it ever was. We supposedly would not need to water either, but the plants he put in are not thriving and many of them have died and needed replacing. I need to give him some benefit of the doubt. That summer, it was impossible to find workers and I think he might have had some other difficulties, but even so, in the years since he ghosted us, he has NEVER contacted us to try to find a way to make things right. Everyone makes mistakes, but the people I want to work with are the people who acknowledge their mistake and try to make it right Anyway, if you are thinking about hiring Hilger's, just know that Cody will do a great job initially, but once he loses interest in your lawn, he will fade away. Also, I would strongly recommend you not pay him until a particular project is finished. I learned that lesson the hard way.
