Cornucopia Thrift Shop

It's a consigners dream. The best attribute of Cornucopia is that as a consigner they accept most…read moreanything. I'm so used to Silks and Treasures long list of items and brands they don't consign as they only have so much room because everyone consigns there that they want only things that can bring a larger sale which makes sense but so many gently used or barely worn items I couldn't bring went to Cornucopia and always sells. I've gained some nice returns at Silks but more than trippled that at Cornucopia in half the time. My consignment experience with Shakedown Street was awful. I never saw even one item I consigned on the floor and things like brand new bags and shoes which would have sold in a couple days, a week at most at Silks and Treasures were never bought at Shakedown. I consigned hundreds of dollars worth of clothing, bags and shoes and got one payout for 12 bucks and another for 22 bucks. That's it. Pretty sure they made a killing selling my stuff online, at least that's what I heard. Cornucopia actually let's you have your items back too if they don't sell which is the major draw for consigning there. And the store looks nice for the most part. My only complaint is the new clothes they have are too expensive so naturally people buy the used stuff. I've bought many nice dresses and jeans there this past year and they don't take out anything so I find myself looking for tank tops by pushing past the turtleneck sweaters but it's worth it. No fuss no worries no list to remember and I either pick up my cash or pick up my stuff if it ends up not selling so I never loose or feel cheated.

I used to stop in here once in a while to see what they had. Every time I went there, I was always…read morea mess. Boxes of items never unpacked, and the 2 girls that work there just sit behind the counter on their phones. In the back room, there are clothes on the floor, and it is just an unorganized clutter mess. The clothing and shoes are in terrible shape and outdated and they smell. I will not go back, it is pretty gross.

Located at the intersection of Main and Market St. in a squat, decrepit-looking mid-century modern…read morebuilding, this Salvation Army houses a pirate's hoard of grimy, musty old clothes, (mostly broken) housewares and general items and a large selection of (also mostly broken) assorted older antique store fare up front by the cash registers. Definitely a place to hit up if you wanna nab some old cracked Precious Moments figurines (I know I do!) or rusty kitchen appliances that probably don't work (I definitely do) or some old musty cardigan sweaters (I'll take 'em all!). And if you're prepared to drop the big bucks, you might get lucky and find an old English Leather Aftershave gift set at the front counter. Some chipped depression glass, old postcards and a busted-up violin might also be within your reach too depending on the day. When I stopped in recently I scored a Golden Girls Christmas sweatshirt and an ugly retro canvas suitcase from the 70s, so obviously a damn good haul for me. My girlfriend actually liked the Golden Girls sweater and suggested I wear it to her friend's ugly Christmas sweater party. Naturally, I told her I would sooner burn it than allow it to be worn to such an event. Luckily, it's way too small for me anyway and will probably just sit on a shelf in my closet for a few years until I decide to cycle it out into a garbage bag for long-term storage in the basement. Ugly Christmas sweater party... The suitcase, however, will be displayed prominently among my ever-growing collection of vintage luggage.

Some great finds in here…read more This location is very convenient for people that use the bus. Finding parking for a car is a bit more challenging, but not not at all impossible. As soon as you step in, the place smells a bit funky. Dig around and you will find some nice leather jackets and decor for the house. There are different colored tags for specific items each day of the week. Mondays are half off! It gets busy. Not the best Salvation Army location i've been to, but a good place to find special party themed clothing. Jewelry is kept in a glass shelf in the front of the store. If you buy glass items, the staff members will wrap it for you in newspapers. There is some furniture, books, lots of clothes, cups, plates, lamps, purses, and decorations for the house. Service here didn't really stand out.
