The theater is unassuming, on a little strip mall, where there's plenty of parking ... and once inside...it's magic! The stage makes great use of space and very creative with the set and lighting. Seating is excellent... not a bad seat in the house. I didn't know photos weren't allowed, the one picture I took and posted of the set was when I walked in. Oops I turned off my phone after that was announced. I loved the play and the theater. I plan to come back again and again! Oh, we are still in COVID times, so everyone in the audience need to wear a mask.

The shows are always thought provoking and intimate. The main stage is always surrounded by seating with viewers close enough to reach out and touch the cast members. They are very creative with lighting and sets to make the most of what they have. The theater offers concessions and beverages to consume during the shows, however this has been suspended during the pandemic. From the street the theater is part of a strip mall on Osseo and isn't anything remarkable. Parking is plentiful and fairly well lit. The theater still requires proof of vac, and that patrons wear masks. Being in a high risk category, I appreciate the precautions! Yellow Tree is a great local theater worthy of your attention! I was very active at Blue Water throughout middle and high school. It was a positive experience at…read morefirst, but then there was a change in leadership. The company started oozing money, the new artistic director only hired her artist friends that were unemployed, along with her boyfriend, who was a raging alcoholic. There were instances where contractors would yell at children and make them cry, and the staff that actually cared, along with other students, would be left to console them. Along with this, the artistic director was unable to manage the administration/office work aspect of her job, and began to complain and give many of her responsibilities to students who were eager to help. This was in no way, shape, or form the faults of the students. They were taken advantage of by an adult they trusted and cared about, who was tanking the business that they loved so deeply. This director ended up being fired due to her making political statements in the 2024 production of Les Miserables (it is a BWTC tradition to produce this show every four years). Because of this, there was a mass exodus of the staff/contractors, and the new AD brought in a pretty much new staff to the theatre. However, the theatre has not recovered financially, or in any other way. The building has some charm, but is falling apart due to how old it is. There have been some problems with ticket sales as well, especially for high school students. All of the kids are aware of this, and many of us would feel disappointed when we would go to perform a show, only for the audience to be 10 to 15 people. I did have some positive experiences at BWTC, and met some people I am still very close to today, but the negative impacts outweigh the positive. If you or your child are looking for theatre programming, try Stages, Children's, or another theatre in the area. They cost the same, but they actually have qualified contractors and staff who know about theatre.

Since you're sitting through dinner and a multi-hour show, I highly recommend purchasing tickets ahead of time for the booth seating over the tables with chairs. The booths were comfortable and plush. A variety of entrees are included with your fare, with the option to purchase upgrades to nicer entrees, enhancements such as sautéed onions and mushrooms, and other items such as appetizers and dessert. Soft drinks including tea and coffee are included in your fare, and other drinks are available for purchase. The appetizer platter was pretty disappointing -- it's advertised as enough for 3-4 people but it really is enough for 1-2. I think you're better off getting the bruschetta for an appetizer. The strawberry mule was a little too sweet for my taste. The entrees really load up the side vegetables so you won't be hungry after your meal! The famous chanhassen chicken was a little bit on the blander side but the portion was generous. The sirloin was definitely the star -- it was seasoned well and served medium rare. The tiramisu was a little more cream heavy than espresso -- I'd try a different dessert next time. The show itself was great -- the sets are well done and you can hear everything really well. They had a 20 minute intermission which was much needed to stretch your legs after sitting for a while. Before the show starts you order dessert and additional drinks that get served during intermission. During intermission you close out your tab as well. There's plenty of free parking available in the large lot and parking ramp, and I had no issues with waiting to get out after the show either.

It's just a well-oiled machine there and I can't wait to go back and enjoy another show. The musical was so well done. I felt guilty for clapping at the end of the acts where the characters were sad. But I clapped. The cast more than deserved it. You could tell a lot of work went into it and I'm glad I got a chance to watch it. I didn't even have any complaints leaving the parking lot. I thought for sure it would be like backed up forever when we left, but it wasn't an issue at all. They know what they're doing and they do it well.

The tickets are reasonably priced and you can usually get one last minute of needed. The staff are really helpful and friendly in my experience. The seats are comfortable and there really isn't a bad spot to sit in order to have a great view of the stage. Parking is all street parking, so it can be a challenge on a busy night to find a close spot. After the shows I've been to, the actors all line up to say hello and sign your program. It is fun to congratulate them and say great work!

FREE parking ramp super close to the Stages Theatre which is very nice. We had had a terrible experience trying to deal with a different company originally and we ended up having to find another company and I am so so glad we found the Mystery Cafe. First off, Brian, who is the owner, was just fantastic all around, responsive, accommodating, kind, and organized. The night of the actual performance, I did not feel nervous at all, he and I had communicated multiple times and also already tested all of the electronics weeks prior to the event, it went off without a hitch. It was fun because it did require audience participation, but it was not too high pressure and they made the atmosphere just so light and exciting and it was FUNNY! There was so much humor and I found myself laughing a lot more than I had thought that I would. 10/10 would recommend. They came to our event, there were 3 actors and I must say, I think that the cost was very fair and reasonable. Great time!
