Great church! Wife grew up in Lafayette and this church means the most to her due to its inclusive nature.

Finally a church that Jesus would be welcome in. Nothing but the Word preached there! Lots of…read moreBible studies (that actually study the Bible, not books about the Bible or what someone thinks about the Bible) Great Fellowship too! The Lord commands us in His Word to fellowship and this is the place. The word for Fellowship Koinonia, a Greek word that occurs 20 times in the Bible. Koinonia's primary meaning is "fellowship, sharing in common, communion." The first occurrence of koinonia is Acts 2:42 Philippians 2:1-2, First John 1:6-7, (Romans 12:10), honor one another (Romans 12:10), live in harmony with one another (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8), accept one another (Romans 15:7), serve one another in love (Galatians 5:13), be kind and compassionate to one another (Ephesians 4:32), admonish one another (Colossians 3:16), encourage one another (1 Thessalonians 5:11; Hebrews 3:13), spur one another on toward love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24), offer hospitality (1 Peter 4:9), and love one another (1 Peter 1:22; 1 John 3:11; 3:23; 4:7; 4:11-12). At Harvest Chapel (related to Cavalry Chapels) is what true biblical koinonia should look like. If the Lord has been calling you to Him, this is the place to fellowship with other believers. Come as you are. John 14:6 - Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Matthew 11:28 Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:30 "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30"For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." See you this Sunday at 10 AM @ Sunnyside Middle School & 6 PM @ Sacred Grounds Coffee Shop.

When I moved across the country to Purdue University, my greatest fear was that I would have to…read moresettle for a church that didn't feel like "home." Then I did a little research online and found this church through the 9Marks Church Search. I learned about their campus ministry, Salt & Light Christian Fellowship, and since it was easy to check out their Bible studies and sign up for a free ride to church, I decided that this would be my first church visit. Praise God, I immediately felt at home on my first Sunday, and this church is where I stayed for all four years. I was blessed by: 1. Rock solid preaching straight from the Bible. 2. Multi-generational church with babies, families, college students, older folks, everyone. 3. An even mix of hymns and newer songs, leaning more traditional than contemporary. 4. A thriving campus ministry that's integrated into the church family (which meant that I didn't need to spread myself thin between multiple groups). 5. Leadership strives to put the gospel at the center of everything they do. I would describe this as a medium-small church. It is just big enough that there are balconies. The seats are angled so that everyone can see each other and worship together (really beautiful!). There are so many avenues to get to know people, and as you get to know more people, the church continually feels smaller and smaller. It's not a perfect church by any means, but it's a great place to grow, and I'm so glad God brought me there.

So, I went there a couple times. It was nice. Nothing unusual in terms of beliefs (standard…read moreconservative Baptist church). I picked up quick that the people there really liked patting themselves on the back about being "friendly". But, on the Sundays I went, I realized, they were just friendly with the people they already know not "outsiders". Definitely picked on the cliques (kind of obvious were the pastor groupies and the college student pack). Just guessing from the other reviews of this place, people inside the cliques are giving five stars, outsiders and people who don't fit in with what they want to see coming to their church (young college students are clearly what they are only concerned with) are actually leaving honest reviews (and of course getting responses when the review is less than stellar).
