I went to this church for around a year and a half with my family. I found it to be very nice - the people who go there are so great. However, we did learn some things that really concern us about what they believe in. They (the pastors, I can't say for everyone who goes there) don't believe in the basics of Christianity, or what's basic to United Methodists beliefs. They don't believe in the existence of Adam and Eve, nor do they believe in the existence of the devil. They believe the Bible is filled with a lot of "truths" we can learn from, but don't believe everything that happened in the Bible was necessarily true. Like when Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, for example. Nor do they believe in an eternal hell. This really concerns me, since it makes one wonder, how much or how little of the "word of Jesus Christ" do they want to share, how much of it do they believe in? The church does a lot of great things in the community, but much is left out as far as Biblical truths. The emphasis is on good works, and not so much on salvation. The sad thing is, after talking to people who are members and have been members a very long time, I have found they were not aware of this. Even the memory verses for the children during Lent, John 3:16 was not written correctly, saying "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son Jesus" when it was Jesus Himself who was talking and it doesn't say "Jesus" in the verse in any translation of the Bible that we know of. The music at this church is great, and I didn't see anything necessarily wrong with that, nor did I notice much else wrong with what was taught to my children. My other concern about that is what if my children are eventually taught something that's obviously going against the Bible, things like I had stated above. Because of what I had learned about what the pastors believe in, which obviously goes against Scripture, I cannot recommend this church. read more
