Wow - just wow! I can't say enough amazing things about Carol and her massages. I found out about…read moreHands on Massage & Bodywork from an Empowered Pregnancy series run through Advocate Sherman Hospital. Carol came and talked about all the benefits of massage - things I never knew about! I was definitely a person who has never been interested in massage therapy and knew nothing about it. She blew me away with her knowledge! Through my pregnancy when I started getting towards the end I learned that through all of my lifting and workouts I had made my body really tight and not necessarily prepared for childbirth. I quickly booked a massage at a local, corporate massage place and instantly regretted it. The person had no idea how to massage a pregnant person and was basically doing a typical massage on a pregnancy table. That's when I contacted Carol and set up an appt with her. From the moment I walked in I could tell this experience would be different. She has such a calm demeanor and instantly put me at ease. Her room is calming and smells wonderful! She knew all about different oils to use, pressure points and different massage techniques to do at different stages of pregnancy. I had done a lot of research on these things and she was talking about all of it before I mentioned a thing! She is very cutting-edge in her training, but that is backed with years of experience. I have never felt so confident in someone's expertise and ability in a long time. The massage itself was so relaxing and everything I needed at the time. I saw her a handful of times leading up to my pregnancy and she was awesome about fitting me in when I had time to come see her. It was honestly the best part of the last weeks of my pregnancy and I wish I had gone to her sooner. My body felt great, I felt more relaxed, my mental state was better, and it was just some great "me" time before the baby came. She would even talk to me about massages to do and pressure points to engage to help with some of the problems I was having. Even though she was further away from where I live, it was so worth the drive out there and I recommend her to everyone! You won't find a better place to get a massage.

She's careful to make sure you know how best to help yourself so you don't have to see her in an emergency case (working out the muscles that get sore from too much computer work and the best stretches for those of us who are chronic slouchers). I arrive feeling like a tense, crooked mess but I leave feeling like a warm, relaxed cooked noodle. She's great.

I was in the area so I decided to make an appointment at this salon since I was in the area. Unfortunately, I noticed there was a very busy Hispanic bakery next door playing Loud music that you can hear through the walls at this massage salon. Tolerable, but, that it is not their fault. I don't blame them, they turned up their relaxing music louder during the massage. I never complained. A very sweet warm-friendly massage therapist, name Lian performed my massage. The massage techniques was just basic, no extra frills or special techniques. Strangely, she barely touched my feet nor was there any stretching of the other areas of my body. I don't think she like touching or massaging the feet . I can say that she tried really hard to please me. I will give her that. Sadly, she lacked the type of massage therapist experience that I was used to receiving in the past. Each client has their own expectations and I feel mine were not met. Dear Lianna's Massage: Stop asking the client repeatedly, over and over during the 1.5 hour massage while the client is trying to relax and enjoy their massage, "Does this feel good, are you okay"? I just couldn't relax bc of the interrupted same question. I have no plans of returning. I have massages performed regularly. It's possible - I am just too picky. I rated 3 stars for their friendliness and the cleanliness of the salon. However, for me - I prefer a more 'experienced' detailed reflexology type massage of my entire body than a basic beginner massage therapist. No knots were removed and no real true massage techniques were utilized. Unsure about the technique of the other massage therapists. By the way, to the other therapist at the counter - I did talk and made special massage requests of my expectations! There was a language barrier and miscommunication bc of the barrier. My hard earned $120 wasted. A decent price for a basic non-experienced massage. I would not recommend Lianna's unfortunately, but, if you want an experienced meticulous massage therapist, this is not the place to visit. Sorry.
