Something doesn't seems right here. If the pastor of this church has attacked the character of DrE and then the first comment from another "reviewer" is to also attack the character of DrE, then that should tell you how much love exists. Maybe the rubric is that you'll get love only if you completely agree with the pastors and parishioners of this church. Is that truly the message that seems to be coming from the pulpit? This message is most definitely not biblical and it doesn't take a seminary education to see it. Just to be clear though, I am not a parishioner of this church so I may be making several assumptions here, but for the scope of this context, something looks like it needs fixing. read more

Notwithstanding the other review from "Dr. E," a local crackpot known for ultra-right and anti-gay views, this is a wonderful church with a moderate pastor and a dedicated, loyal congregation. Great place to worship. read more

the politically-charged "Hate has no home here" sign on the lawn of this church demonstrates a very specific political bent of the leadership, so I called and spoke with the pastor who started by accusing me of plotting to steal the sign, then told me it was directed at her neighborhood (apparently where the haters reside?), then she informed me that she knew more about the Bible than me because of her degrees (that's called an argument from authority and is NEVER a valid - it's a way to attack somebody absent having to actually answer for the subject at issue, such as the sign); she then went on to tell me the Bible was violent because it speaks of "crushing the heads of babies," which is odd, because you have to completely take that verse (Ps. 137:9) out of context to arrive at her conclusion. Considering all those degrees she tried to lord over me to diminish my standing, it was important to help her gain a little more Bible education: to wit, that that passage is a foreshadowing of what is to come NOT some kind of Biblical command for Christians to partake in such a heinous activity. With a PLETHORA of wonderful and loving Bible verses about loving our neighbors and showing grace to those with whom we disagree, WHY would a church pastor show her bias by placing that sign on the lawn in lieu of an actual Bible verse from God himself (or Jesus - same thing) advocating love. The "hate has no home here" message is negative and demeaning, and essentially accuses those in the area of being hateful ... BUT not if you have the sign! She told me directly that the message is directed toward her neighbors. God forbid the Church actually use a verse from the Bible which contains a positive message of love ... there's plenty of those if you're not wasting your time taking the Old Testament out of context. Just sayin' ... after the conversation and being accused of being a hater (along with the other neighbors), being told that she suspected me of plotting to steal the sign and then told that my perspective wasn't as important as hers because she has more degrees (after she took a verse completely out of context), I think she might have put the sign up for herself... makes me wonder what's being taught from the pulpit on Sundays; I hope it's more loving than what I got. read more
