Champlain College has fallen from grace from the early 2000s and is a rundown mismanaged nightmare…read more I loved it in 2018 but the place is dirty, things barely function, and when there are increasing concerns about safety, ADA compliance (Wick Hall is no longer as the ADA entrance wheelchair opener fell last year and is just a hole in the ceiling now), fireplaces are out-of-date for safety inspections, Compass Student Services is rude and unhelpful. Worst of all is the event center staff who don't care for students and care whenever there are other events not hosted by the college. I have emailed multiple times about broken and missing door handles to one building. It has been a year. NOTHING has been done and apparently being able to enter is becoming quite difficult as the S.D. Ireland building is missing a handle, 194 St Paul St missing a handle, and I think Aiken is as well. Honestly, the school hasn't truly seen any care since 2000 as a fire alarm just went off recently from how dusty it was in the Garden House.

I have been attending Champlain college for 2 years and will be completed in August. I've never had…read moreas many issues as I've had this past year. The academic advisor I have been assigned to is almost non-existent. I have updated my phone number in their system multiple times but yet they keep calling the wrong number. They will email you halfway through your appointment and even if you respond back they will not call you back. I am in the accelerated program and recently got hit with an academic integrity warning and there's no option for fighting any of this unless you submit in writing to the dean for a review on the matter but it has to be by end of semester which semesters only last 7 weeks and I was given this notice on the weekend after the semester ended, giving me no time to submit a grievance. I've tried reaching out to anyone I can and there's no one I could speak to other than my academic advisor on the issue which I could never get a hold of. All in all, it's been a horrible experience. I would say about half of the professors really care about their students online and the others are just quick to give you a grade and send you on your way.

The University of Vermont officially University of Vermont and State Agricultural College, is a…read morepublic land-grant research university in Burlington, Vermont. It was founded in 1791. The university is the oldest in Vermont and the fifth-oldest in New England. It is among the oldest in the United States and is one of the original eight Public League Universities. My dear friend's daughter is in her senior year. It's going to be hard to say goodbye to our campus visits. It is a beautiful campus to visit and fun activities nearby like the Teddy Bear Factory and Maple Syrup Factory. If you stay near campus at a AirB&B it may be a home with historic charm. Plan your visits because graduation comes around quickly and you want to document your fond memories! The downside is the placement office. Don't expect much assistance finding employment in your chosen field when you graduate! Start planning in advance!

I had no idea what to expect of our visit to UVM as I'd never been in Vermont before this trip. I…read morecould simply sum it up with a 'Wow". Just the trip TO the school was a beautiful drive, but arriving in Burlington and walking around town was really great. We did do an official tour and the campus itself is beautiful. Our tour guide did an excellent job with our fairly large group and was able to answer all our questions. Dorms were...well they were dorm rooms, but some of the residence halls are actually quite nice. Unfortunately, I don't think this was the right 'fit' for my son so it's unlikely that he will end up here as a student, but it had more to do with the makeup of the academic program he was interested in rather than him not liking the campus. Seriously, this is really a beautiful campus with access to great outdoor activities in all seasons. Reduced price ski trips for students, great activities ON campus, and so much to do in town. Burlington is a great town with LOTS of great places to eat and drink...lots of local brews to enjoy if you are into craft beers as well.

To Future Students: Avoid Professor Burkart's Classes…read more If you're considering taking a business class with Professor Burkart at CCV--don't. It was by far the most frustrating and disappointing academic experience I've had. Burkart is rigid, inflexible, and completely obsessed with textbook regurgitation. He doesn't reward original thought or effort--he wants word-for-word quotes and punishes students who try to actually think or explain concepts in their own words. His grading felt inconsistent and, in my experience, unfair. I even caught him skimming over my work and missing his own errors while deducting points from mine. I was respectful, communicative, and eager to learn. In return, I got a class that made me question the value of higher education altogether. His teaching style left a lasting negative impression, and I will never take another class with him again. There are many great instructors at CCV--Burkart is not one of them. Save yourself the stress and look elsewhere. CCV as a whole, 3 stars.

Good luck getting an education from this embarrassment of a College. While there are a couple good…read moreprofessors, the overwhelming majority of them are either unqualified or just plain disinterested. Their online resources are riddled with bugs and using their portal system can be an unreliable joke. I can honestly say that I received better educational opportunities from my mid-tier public high school. The only reason I am giving CCV two stars is because if you are willing to suffer through a semester or two of disorganized chaos, then you do receive transferable college credit at the end... That's the only reason to come to this place: to buy transfer credits for a school that's actually worth your money and time.
