My relationship with St Paul started when my mother and father were married on July 31st 1948…read moreThrough the 60s and 70s we would go to masses weddings and unfortunately funerals. In February of 1973, My grandmother died I was an altar boy for her funeral The procession went into the cemetery and there I cried my eyes like any 12 year old boy would to say goodbye to his grandmother since that day 53 years ago there have been weddings Masses, funerals for my grandfather and other grandmother, my aunts and uncles and friends two in particular Bill and Peter Ryan. My pride and joy was that my grand nephew Daryl George was baptized in 2018 by Monsignor Joe Rosie, More funerals, occasional Masses to see Monsignor Nolan my chaplain from high school. Listening to the sermons the beautiful organ orchestration by Ernie Andreoli and the voice of an Angel in Beth Meagher, listening to the two deacons and especially the departed Deacon Jim are a Joy that Cannot Be replaced. I go there now because that is the church I wish to go to and the $80 I gave for the Bishop's annual appeal is well earned.

Its Bucks County fieldstone facade is ageless, and for all the world to imagine that it sprung wholely formed directly from this good earth. Sadly, I was there for the first time attending to a funeral for a friend's mother-in-law, who was taken too soon after a battle with cancer. Yet, if there was ever a House of God able to hold and comfort the pain and grief of a large family, this ancient chapel was it. Although not Christian, I felt the holiness of the stones, stained glass and old wooden benches sitting beneath its high vaulted ceiling. Every word spoken in memoriam of her passing by her children and husband rang clearly off the well plastered walls. The pastor's homily of Proverbs:31 was true and to the point. As I sat concentrating on the message, I saw a bright white light glowing behind each of them, attesting to their complete sincerity, sense of loss and the devine presence. It was a Light comfortably embraced by the strong stone arms of this amazing soulful edifice.

While I am not a member of the congregation, my son and his mother are. They allowed us to use alot of the space, including the old sanctuary, lounge and kitchen. We brought in food and decorations the day before and they provided all the tables and chairs needed for the 50 people invited to join the festivities. The staff was available to give directions on use of the facilities, and where things we needed were stored that we would have not discovered without their aid. The event went off smoothly with family, friends and scouts in attendance. Our Congressman, State Senator, and representatives of our State Assemblyman, Marine Corp, and BSA Council were in attendance to give stirring talks and read citations of congratulations to my son. It was a wonderful day that we will remember for the rest of our lives. For the young man it will profoundly influence the course of his life's journey. High respect, praise and gratitude to the elders of WCUMC and its members for allowing this occasion to take place, and for the living spirit of care and generosity that imbues them all and this day with Devine grace.
