I don't know how to even begin to describe my disappointment and devastating financial situation that I have been put in after hiring a "financial advisor" after my divorce. I had met with Shane Hemphill of Trifound/Vertis in 2022. Jokingly I asked when I could retire which his reply was, anytime. After much paper work and lists of monthly living expenses, assets, bank accounts etc. he arrived at a monthly disbursement amt. I sold my home, let my job and moved east near my family with Shane' encouragement that he could make my money work wherever I want to live. This was the 2nd of many statements that Shane had told me that ended up being very false. At the beginning meetings I was told there was no fee for the services because he has so many high profile cases he doesn't have to take money from little accounts. After all of money in his hands I was then I was paying 9% of the accounts he manages. Which of course is there are multiple. I worked with people that went to Shane and did not check into his credentials until after he had all of my 401K and Brokerage from the sale of my home in his control. If I had I would have found that he has no formal education to be advising of financial growth. I did leave my job at 62 and thought I was fine with the budget of money that was coming from my investments. I assumed that this was the amount I would be getting monthly indefinitely and I could plan my future with this amt. I was in the process of looking for a new home and in applying for a loan it was discovered that all of my money was put in 10 IRA's with the acceptation of the amt. that was set aside for me to live on. After going thru that amt. set By Shane, he then decided to start dipping into my brokerage account for monthly dispersants. ( I did not give prior consent, nor agree to this!!) This money was to go towards the downpayment on a new home.) I expressed my concerns of my investment's growth and my financial future many times to Shane and was always told, you are fine stop worrying. I was MORTIFIED! Several Brokers, fiduciaries, and financial advisors were looking at my accounts that Shane set up and what he invested me in to give their opinion. With no $ growth for 3 years and basically living off disbursements of a "savings account", I DO HAVE to go back work full, give up my apartment and live with family until I can reinvest my money AND see some kind of growth and save money from work until I am 70. (had I kept on the same course with Shane I would have been bankrupt at 71, just like Trifound) Be very careful signing up with a someone that calls themselves financial advisors. A business degree does not qualify for you to represent someone as a financial advisor !!! It should be against the law for these kind of people to misrepresent you to fatten their own pocket and send you to financial despair. Hard lesson learned on my part. We became clients when TriFound purchased the firm we used for years. We have found them to be very professional, knowledgeable and easy to get in touch with. Shane and Kyle are personable and easy to talk to, and always return calls or emails as quickly as they can. They've done exactly what they said they would with our investments and are always willing to answer questions or do what we ask. I inherited TriFound when the company I selected to handle my finances sold to TriFound. I would have never selected TriFound as a financial advisor group. When we first became their clients, they literally lost us and dropped the ball on securing a life insurance product we wanted. Secondly, they failed to file our income tax return and did not return phone calls when we'd leave message inquiring about the return. The latest insult to injury is that they are trying to force clients into tiers to ensure they make money off of you, regardless of how they treat you. Of course, no one from TriFound can be bothered to call us back when we have left messages. I finally terminated services with TriFound, something I should have done three years ago. read more

From my experience Shane Hemphill does not let integrity, honesty or ethics get in his way of making a sale and commission. I Purchased an annuity through TriFound's Birmingham, MI. office. I first dealt with Justin Teppert, who incorrectly described the annuity products and promised me that they were Gov't insured...which they are not. Justin moved to Fla. to be with his fiance', who allegedly died....Then I then got handed off to Shane Hemphill, who sold me an additional annuity, but when I got my statement, it had Adrian Vargas as the agent. After talking to EquiTrust Life insurance, the annuity I was sold was not at all what it turned out to be. Then Adrian disappeared, not to be heard from again. Then I tried to contact Shane Hemphill for over a year and never got a call returned. In reveiwing my statement, the listed agent was Erin B. Welch in Fla. who I've never heard of, and is now not with the company! DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY IF YOU EVER WANT TO SEE YOUR MONEY AGAIN!!! I found him to be well informed, and not at all doing a hard sell to switch from my current fiduciary advisor. Their weekly email is filled with relevant financial articles, which I appreciate. Would consider them should I lose confidence in my current local advisor. read more

In 2015 my husband and I worked with a new financial planner (Trifound, Gary Harris, president and founder) that advised that we should transfer his 401K to an annuity. We did that and received a bonus for moving our money there. In 2018 my husband passed away unexpectedly. Trifound's (Avery Markos) advice at the time of his death was to move those $'s to a new annuity because we had fulfilled the terms of the initial annuity and would also receive another sign up bonus with that transfer. About 2 months after his death I signed papers to transfer these funds. When I signed the papers they listed it as "inherited" instead of "spousal continuation". I was 62 at the time of his death. They explained that I would now have to take RMD's every year. At the time I didn't question that but talking with other financial planners who told me that I didn't have to take RMD's led me back to Trifound (Sarah Saum) who told me that they HAD to set it up the way they did. I also spoke to the Annuity company who confirmed that it was transferred incorrectly. After about 18mos of asking they finally admitted they had submitted the paperwork incorrectly. Earlier this year I started asking about diversifying those funds. Mr Harris of the company met with me and told me he had news "that was really going to make me happy"! He said that he was recommending that we move that money to a new annuity (Athene) company that would pay whatever the first company would claw back of the bonus from North American AND pay a new bonus. All total that would have been about $32K. After no follow up from the associate (Cassidy Ammons) I was working with I emailed and asked what the status was. She explained that the new company was not interested in my funds because they were "inherited". I had a couple conversations with people at the company about being unhappy and requested a call with Mr. Harris. I never received that call and now it seems that nobody at Trifound will talk to me at all. I have 6 short years to maximize those funds to better prepare for retirement but am hamstrung by the errors they have made. I am now reaching out to both my state and federal representatives to fix the errors they made and hold them accountable for their mismanagement. read more

Received inheritance annuity with taxable portions. One year ago, asked for a projection (so I can avoid tax penalties) of taxable income to expect. I still have not received it despite multiple requests. A financial company unable to provide taxable income projections does not make much sense to me. read more

I have never been treated so rudely by a company that is trying to get my business and possibly stand to make quite a good commission from servicing my financial and retirement needs. I received a mailer inviting us to a seminar to introduce us to Trifound. It all sounded great so we called to accept the invitation. On the night of the seminar I left my job early to get to the presentation that night. We arrived to the location at 6:30, parked the car and walked the block to the site..which took about 2 minutes, putting us thru the door at 6:32 only to be told that we were late and rudely turned away not allowing us to enter the room where the seminar was to be held.The mailer said the seminar was at 630, that is when we basically arrived. If after the company fronted the cost of the mailer, the 7 page packet sent to inform us of the practices of Trifound, the cost of paying employees to call and confirm attendance, and the cost of running the seminar, you can afford to turn potential clients away due to a 2 minute discrepancy, you in my opinion make too much money already and I am grateful I didn't get caught up in your false hype and sign my retirement savings over to you to mishandle and squander. Be aware of the rigid stuff shirt so called professionals that you might be working with if you decide to answer their marketing hype.
