I shopped here years ago and was a fan. A few weeks ago when I happened to be in the area, I returned and was not disappointed. I scooped up some great items for boys and girls in great condition. Pros: A lot of quality brands (i.e. Gap, L.L. Bean, Nautica, Pedi Peds); no walmart, target or old navy stuff (I have nothing against those brands, they just don't hold up well for consignment). The staff was friendly and very helpful. Although the shop is small, there is a lot of clothes to choose from and everything is organized well. Parking is available behind the shop along the small side street behind the shop. Cons: As mentioned, the inside of the shop is a tight fit, not much room to move around. Because of this, do NOT bring your child with you -shopping childless is not a con however ;-). No fault to the shop, but the turn getting back on York Road is scary, there is a hill and it is hard to see when pulling back out into traffic. read more

I love a good consignment store, especially one for kids things that they grow out of so quickly! This one is fantastic and the selection is amazing. I'll be making an annual pilgrimage from DC every year to outfit my little one. read more

I went to this consignment shop to buy various things for an infant. I was surprised that the store had some maternity clothes as well. However, the store felt crowded, and the clothes looked like it had all seen extensive wear. They did have some inexpensive baby shoes though. read more

This is my absolute favorite consignment shop for my 6 year old boy. I find the boys selection to be slim pickings at most of the other consignment shops, but not at Tried But True. I am always guaranteed to find high quality, designer brands at a fraction of the cost. The clothes are in excellent condition and show little to no signs of wear. I live 20 miles away from this store, but I always make my monthly trek just to see what bargains I can find. I have never been disappointed in their selection or their prices. Great consignment shop in Cockeysville. The place is full of items, but the staff is organized and helpful. We sold several things- 2 car seats, double stroller, etc and received a check in a very timely manner with all of the items clearly listed with the sold price. Recently tried the newer kids consignment shop a few doors down and they are not nearly as organized or helpful. I came across Tried But True when I went to visit another consignment shop just down the street. After not finding what I was looking for in terms of quality, I walked to Tried But True. The major con was the shop was small, but that's not really a con that would cause me to rate this place any lower. I found the section for baby boy clothing I needed and began browsing. I was not expecting to walk out with anything let alone a bag full of items. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the variation and quality of the clothing. The items were not only well cared for and clean, but they represented some of the "top" merchants for children's clothing such as Gymboree, Carters, Oshkosh, Baby Gap, Ralph Lauren, etc. Since I just went shopping a day before looking for items for my son, I already had an idea of the retail price for most of these items. I saved over $150 and bought some really nice clothing. I even signed up for the store's frequent shopper's program because I definitely will be back. I realize babies outgrow clothes so fast, and it is nice to find a place that sells quality items. When my son outgrows his clothing, I hope to provide the same quality to someone else. read more

The salespeople are very rude. They have no desire to help you in any way. When you ask them a question they seem terribly bothered by having to answer you, and their reply is snotty. I bought a Leapster cartridge there for my son. When we got to our car, my son immediately put the game into his Leapster to play it, but the cartridge was broken and wouldn't work at all. We went back into the store and told them this and asked for our money back. At first they refused to give me the money back for it which was shocking since I had just bought it minutes earlier! I asked them if they test their games before selling them and they said they do not. So after arguing with them they finally refunded my money. Then to my surprise, I saw the argumentative employee Roberta throw the non-working cartridge back into the box of video games that they sell! I was amazed that I had just told her it doesn't work and yet she put it back on the shelf for someone else to buy!!! Overall, this store is horrible. Their prices are quite high on most items and their store is small and cluttered with stained, poor quality clothing. But the worst thing of all about this store is the employees and their horrible attitude. Roberta and her co-worker Sue are very unpleasant and unhelpful and for this reason above all others I will never shop there again. read more
