I highly recommend Dr. Tricia Shimer for all female health ranging from OB/GYN, Hormone Replacement Therapy to Vaginal Rejuvenation. I was in menopause and she was able to get my hormones normalized to where I feel young again with no vaginal dryness, good sleep patterns and overall increase in energy. I also decided to have some vaginal rejuvenation treatments that used an Immode VTone and Morpheus 8 V and I am blown away with the difference after the series of treatments. This is a review of Dr. Shimer as a gynecologist. I've been going to Dr. Shimer for my annuals for about 8 years or so now. Shimer herself is a fantastic and genuinely caring doctor. She cares more about her patients and their comfort than most. She is very knowledgeable and explains topics and procedures well without giving me *too* much information. I've always been an easy fainter so I appreciate not hearing the nitty gritty details. She's even been there for me when I fainted after a biopsy. Most recently I had to undergo a LEEPS procedure with her, and I knew I was in good hands wth Dr. Shimer. As far as cons, really the office staff has been up and down over time. The actual nurses who take you back to the rooms and get you ready for Shimer are usually top notch. The receptionists could just use a little more training in general as far as customer service, punctuality, etc. read more

If you want a good dr for you and your baby , DO NOT GO SEE HER !!! She is terrible .. I'm 10 weeks pregnant and went to see her and left the office feeling very confused and not satisfied but didn't understand why it was like a gut feeling .... I told her I have been in a lot of pain in my pregnancy, she told me everything in my pregnancy is good and I have nothing to be concerned about and my pain is totally normal ... a few days after I started bleeding very heavy, so I got so scared and rushed to the ER and the dr there seen me and told me that my placenta is to low ! And that I am at high risk with my pregnancy, and that this can cause a lot of pain, stay off your feet and take it easy ... I thank God I went to the ER I would have never known anything! Is it weird that I'm reviewing my lady bits doctor? Yep, it kinda is. But I feel like I would be doing an injustice to the vajayjays of Dallas if I didn't share the best GYNO that I've ever found. So, gather 'round, ladies. Let's talk uteri. I've never had a problem-free female system, but around my 30th birthday, my internal workings staged a full-out revolt. Without going into specifics (because really, there's no need to scare the children) I had horrible fibroid tumors that were sending my monthly schedule into mayhem. After years of suffering through the pain and hormonal rollercoaster, my regular GYNO moved and her practice was taken over by Dr. Tricia Shimer. Don't get me wrong, I liked my GYNO. She worked toward finding a solution to my problems the best she could and to the extent that I was willing/able to participate. But when Dr. Shimer stepped in and took over, I literally felt like a sunbeam shone through to the bottom of my dark hole. Basically, my only option was to have a hysterectomy and Dr. Shimer took me through the process like the experienced professional that she is. My life is so improved because of her that I really can't believe I suffered as long as I did. She's also my cheerleader for any tiny change that I make toward making myself a healthier person. She never judges my bad habits or my less than svelte physique, she only celebrates my accomplishments toward better health. The one thing that bugs me about doctors and waiting times unfortunately applies to Dr. Shimer. But know that once you get into an exam room, Dr. Shimer will give you every bit of attention that she gives every patient. She never makes me feel like she's rushing me out of the room so she can get to the next person and she remembers every detail about my life and my health. If you're looking for someone to do a compulsory yearly exam and hustle you out the door as quickly as possible, don't go to Dr. Shimer. If you're looking for a doctor who invests herself in your health and is your partner in taking care of your body, Dr. Shimer is exactly your woman. read more

My previous doc moved and sold her practice to Dr. Shimer and it couldn't have come at a worse time! I was pregnant with my second child and well the last thing I wanted was to have a new doc. I've seen Dr. Shimer for about 3 years now. Two annuals and she has delivered one baby. Now she will be delivering my second baby! She's great caring and overall I have had a great experience with her. The nurses are great as well. They get the ball rolling. When I bring my toddler, they also keep him company. Recently, they have gone through two receptionists, who have been awful. Which I don't get because everyone else is great. The latest one is rude and impatient. There was no one in the room but myself. I asked her to schedule a specific day because the day I usually would go no longer works. I have to repeat it 10x, literally. To the point where my husband had to tell her. I hope they find a receptionist that fits in with the staff. I still gave this office 5 stars because Dr. Shimer and the nurses are the ones who will actually take care of me and do a great job. Even though I have to bypass the rude receptionist. Tricia Shimer almost killed me and my baby. I waived my rights multiple times with witnesses to deny her care and I was refused. She maxed me out in pitocin. I went from a 1 to a 10 on my induction of my first baby within hours. My baby had distress that she ignored and I was distressed as well. I pleaded for her to slow the pitocin that I was progressing too quickly and she ignored me. When my first baby weight 8lbs and 4oz came flying out she had to be rushed to ICU and I passed out. She then ripped out my placenta causing excessive bleeding and stuck a rag in me and left it there and never removed it. It was a true horror. I could have sued and should have. She should have her license taken from her. In my next deliveries with a different doctor, he let me control my pitocin levels with my inductions and I had zero complications. This woman, based on my experience, is either selfish to the core or truly evil. I would run, not walk away from her. read more

Dr Shimer is very warm, easy to speak to, patient and a knowledgeable Dr. However, she IS a baby doctor and seems to always run 30-40 minutes behind. During my most recent visit I waited almost an hour, then she had to cancel altogether, due to baby delivery. Not sure if the scheduling challenge is what it is or can be helped by booking less patients to take into account baby deliveries...either way my point is, be prepared to wait. Not a huge fan of the rating part as everyone's personal "scale" is different, so really this should just be a "PSA" or "FYI". For ME...timeliness is an important factor when choosing a doctor. If I were having a baby or had female health concerns I would probably be ok waiting 30-45 min. read more

I had 4 other GYN's tell me I needed a hysterectomy, starting at the age of 35. My last resort, my PCP sent me to Dr. Shimer. She listened when I said I didn't want a hysterectomy unless it was my only option. She proposed trying another option first, and if it worked a hysterectomy wouldn't be necessary. It worked!! Almost 20 years later, I am hysterectomy free!! And I've been going to her ever since. read more

She not only is knowledgeable, but has an amazing demeanor and rapport with patients and makes herself available. I not only use her for my gyn needs, but I moved here from NYC and had my second baby with her. This is after "firing" 3 other OB/Gyns after moving here. I've been going to Dr. Shimer for 8 years and she is very good at what she does. She is knowledgeable and easy to talk to. She gives you her full attention [she's present in the moment] when she is in the room and never seems to be trying to hurry you along. I would recommend her highly. I did find her through a referral from a friend who had twins at a pretty late age that Dr. Shimer delivered. As far as the wait, nothing out of the norm for a doctor's office visit. I haven't found many doctors that you don't wait at least 15 mins for and usually more like 30-40 minutes. I just build that in to my schedule and bring a book. I'm pregnant with my first child and read all the amazing reviews on here so I thought I'd give her a shot. First of all, I could not find her to save my life. I called and figured out its the Presbyterian Hospital in the Perot building on the Lower Level (in case any future patient has the trouble I did). I was super stressed from it. All that doesn't matter. She's absolutely wonderful. She's nice, thorough, informative, and answered all my questions with patience. Her staff is just as helpful. I feel very relieved and lucky she will be my doctor through this. They gave me a whole bag of different prenatal samples and a folder with all the information I can handle. Wow, I have to say that this clinic is quite a roller coaster (not a good one). I have been going to Dr. Shimer for about 2 years now and am now having to change doctors due to the incredibly unorganized and rude staff. Like most women, I am on birth control and outside of my normal annual check ups was the only real reason for having a gynecologist. I started to have serious side effects on the birth control I was on so Dr. Shimer switched me and we went through this four times. I found one that finally didn't make me sick and of course it was not covered by my insurance. Obviously, I did everything I could to figure out how to get it covered because I just could not handle being made sick anymore. Basically I had to appeal it with the insurance company by writing a letter and have my doctor write a letter. Easy enough, right? Worth trying at any rate. I called and called and called Dr. Shimer's office leaving message after message with no return call. This goes on for two weeks. Finally a girl calls me back, I talk to her, tell her how concerned I am and she comforts me, promising to help appeal it with my insurance. She gives me her personal email address (very strange) to send her all the information and tells me to come pick up samples from the office. Needless to say I email her everything that same day and go to pick up my sample the following day. She never responded to receiving my email, so I leave her a hand written note to call me back to confirm she got my email and discuss next steps. I, of course, never get a call from her. Two months later I run out of samples and go back to the office to get more, as I was advised to do. I am assured at the office when I return for more samples that the girl is still working on it and to call and get more samples when I run out, that it was not a problem. Two months go by again, I have not heard from anyone in the office in a total now of four months regarding my birth control issue. Again, I call and call and call leaving message after message. I even emailed the girl again in the hopes someone would respond to me. One week goes by and the following Monday I had had it. I called let them know I was coming to the office for more samples and to talk to someone and would love for someone to call me back before I made the trip. Well, they called me back. They tell me they sent the appeal to my insurance company and it had been declined. I was pissed (to say the least) how dare they do all of this and NEVER NOTIFY me of anything. I never got to write my letter/ do my part of the appeal. Oh, and by the way, she also tells me no longer have any samples of the birth control I need. Then the girl pulls my file and tries to prescribe me one of the FOUR birth controls that make me sick. Well, that really did me in to say the least. Long story short, I talk to my health insurance provider and my gynecologist never submitted the letter of appeal and there were no records of even a phone call from them. I confronted the nurse who claimed that she would help me with this and she took absolutely no responsibility for any of it... talk about disheartening. She was also incredibly rude and could only manage to talk about how busy she was and how short staffed they were. Sorry honey, we all are busy. You had four months. The entire time I keep requesting that Dr. Shimer call me, but of course she never does. I just can not go to a doctor who employs individuals like this. read more

It was my first time going to this office and I had trouble finding it so I showed up 20 minutes late, then realized I lost my insurance card-yeah one of those mornings, and the staff couldn't have been more patient and understanding! Dr. Shimer is GREAT! I moved to Texas about five years ago with a history of endometriosis and other issues. I was finished having my children and was in so much discomfort. I met with another OBGYN in this area and was not happy with her recommendation. I met with Dr. Shimer and we went over all my options. She never forced me into anything and she explained very clearly what was happening to my body. I called her one day in horrible pain, she sent me straight to the ER. She even called to make sure I was ok. I met again with her and we scheduled a hysterectomy, which I knew I needed. The surgery went perfect, no problems, I even went home the next day. Dr. Shimer gave me back my life, I feel 100% better. I see her once a year and I have spoke to her at my appointments about very personal issues. She is very understanding and takes the time to educate me on my questions. If you are looking for a GREAT doctor I highly recommend her. I have given birth to three children, all different doctors do to moving, and I can honestly say Dr. Shimer is the best so far. read more
