In addition to death and taxes here's another thing you can't live without-insurance! Sure you are…read moregoing to pay through the nose but hey-you need it-Whether it's your car, home, apt, life, etc, State Farm has it all. One thing I like about my agent is that he is thorough and reviews my coverages and the importance of them. However, the final decision is up to me as to how much I can afford. I'm sure like other agencies you can view your account online-pay your bill, send a message to your agent. He's also there to help you if you or one of your loved ones decides to move to another state. I've been a longtime customer of this particular branch and normally go to them for advice. it is always best to shop around when you are looking for insurance because as your life changes so does your insurance needs. State Farm does have one perk I like which is their VISA card. It has a rewards program linked to it where after your accrue a certain number of points they convert to dollars which can be used State Farm products. Other things are on there as well but for me It helps since I can use them to reduce a premium when it becomes due. I am sure other agencies may have something similar. The best help he has been to me is linking a loved one up with an agent in another state when that person moves. It is easy for the new agent to pull up the policy and then adjust it as need be. Again they might not be the most cost effective for you but they have helped me during some difficult situations I have had in life.

I recently had an accident and he was there with any questions i had and answered or called right back. He has that "old town" feel and customer service that this world has been lacking recently. Anyway it was the best treatment you could ask for when things seem so dreary with an accident occurring. I tell all my friends and family now to look into the savings they could uncover by switching. Thanks again for everything Chad. Keep up the great work.

Our review is for State Farm, the company, not necessarily Tom Sterling, whose been my agent for…read moreover 20 years. As it has been made clear, the agents are just customer service representatives who have no weight and do not have any say in the final decisions of the claims that are filed anyway. So, I question why there are even agents. Currently, we have auto insurance, boat insurance, life insurance, and homeowners insurance through State Farm. We have motorcycle and business insurance elsewhere. A few years ago, state farm dropped our auto insurance, with very little notice, due to accident claims filed too closely together (according to them). As soon as we were able, we still went back to state farm. February 5, 2015 I was in a single car accident with two of my kids. We hit ice and spun out of control on a bend, slammed into a hillside with protruding tree roots and stumps, and totaled my vehicle. I called to file the claim within hours, lined up the adjustor to come assess the damage the next day, and picked up my rental the following day. The following Tuesday, we heard back from the claims department, confirming our belief that the vehicle was totalled. We were also given an "average" value of my vehicle that they were willing to pay us. Knowing that they are just going to sell the vehicle at auction, and make most of their payout back, we declined the offer, and said they had to do better than that. So, the wait began. We did a lot of looking to see what the cost of replacing my vehicle with same make/model/year/equipment would be, and we did a lot of research on state farm as a company. 8 days later, we finally heard back from the claims department and they still came back with the same number. Its interesting that they use Kelly Blue book and NADA to assess tax when you purchase a vehicle or when calculating the insurance rate, but when it comes to paying out in the event of a loss, they rely on something called AutoSource to determine the value- which is very low compared to NADA and Kelly Blue Book values, in my case. It is a fact that I have high miles as I drive 30,000-40,000 miles per year for work. But their way of determining the value of my vehicle, essentially deducted twice for my high miles, and gave me no credit for all the upgrades my vehicle had- it was fully loaded and I got credit as if it were a base model. We went to our agent with our concerns, we showed him the paperwork we had received, which he had never seen before, and he agreed that the assessed value was low. He said he'd call the claims department and talk to a manager. When we finally heard back from him, the amount had changed by $30. It took 3 weeks to get to this point. And my rental was due back. So now, i have been without a car or a reasonable offer on my full coverage policy for almost another 2 weeks. This is what they want. To tire me out. To back me up against a wall. To put me in a position where I have to take their offer due to time and other constraints and inconveniences. When we told them, their offer is $2,000 less than what we need to just replace what we had, their response was, "well that's close enough." Or, "just use the check for a nice down payment on a new car". Interestingly, the CEO of state farm told its shareholders a few years ago, that state farm would never lose money again. If they short change every claim by $2,000, how much do you think that contributes to their multi-billion dollar profit every year? State farm insurance is not insurance, as they told me, they are there "to help offset my hardship as best possible" so my full coverage policy isn't really full coverage. State farm is, in my experience, organized crime. They aren't in the business of taking care of their premium paying customers, they are in the business of making money for their shareholders. I wonder how much of my $500,000 life insurance policy they'd actually pay out if I died. Based on history, just enough to offset the hardship to my husband and 4 kids. Sinfully repulsive. I will now spend more time, and energy, 5 weeks after my accident to move all of my insurance from state farm. As long as consumers allow this behavior, it will continue, and most likely, get worse. Don't be so naive to judge the quality of your insurance by how nice they are when you call in to ask a question, or make a payment- or even their thoughtful holiday greeting cards. Base your decision on where you will spend a lot of your hard earned money every month, on how they treat you when you NEED them to take CARE of you.
