I had also just stopped in Alabama and spent a fair amount of time at that Buc-ee's location. Baytown Buc-ees was a stop I made at about 3:30pm on 6/10/26 and I knew I was going to battle Houston traffic to get to Austin! I was able to purchase some nuts and snacks here and the store was consistent with other stores in the chain-- tons of food, super clean restrooms, mesmerizing merch, and plenty of gas pumps. Along with my love of Buc-ee's, I also have a ton of perks at Starbucks and was pleased to see that there was a store next to Buc-ee's. I was able to get a cold brew and be on my way in 30min. Fastest Buc-ee's/Starbucks stop on my trip! I guess it possible to do a quick stop at Buc-ee's, but before I left I saw a manager and asked her if this was the first Buc-ees and she said in a polite TX voice, "No sir, we are store #34" She also let me know that the first store was in Clute, TX. Knowledgeable staff!! Since I live near the first Chipotle I was curious. I didn't get to visit the 1st Buc-ee's store or the first In and Out Burger on this trip but there will be more. :) I did visit the first KFC and museum in Corbin KY! lol

The store employees are very friendly even though it is not in the best part of town and is very busy most of the time. They have a good selection of snacks, sodas and beer. I know when Frito lay releases a new flavor of chips this store always has them first. The one downfall is their lack of a good selection of energy drinks. They have hot dogs and nachos but I have not tried them. The store is closed late at night but you can still get gas if you pay at the pump. On Friday between 5-7 pm - I called the pharmacy and spent approximately 30 minutes listening to the phone ring and repeatedly being placed back into the queue. After getting nowhere, I hung up, called the store again, and selected the option to speak with a store manager. By then, yes, I was frustrated. That's exactly when good customer service matters most. I explained to the female manager what had happened. Instead of acknowledging my frustration and saying something as simple as, "I'm sorry you've been trying to reach us for 30 minutes. Let me see what's happening and help you," she went to the pharmacy and came back telling me that no phones were ringing--as though what I had just experienced hadn't happened. She then suggested there might be a technical issue and told me she wasn't technical support and would have to submit a ticket to corporate; after saying, I'm not tech-support. As a customer, I don't need to know your internal process for submitting a technical-support ticket. I need to know that you heard the problem, you take it seriously, and you're going to do what you can to resolve it. That's Customer Service 101: Listen. Acknowledge. Apologize. Take ownership. Offer a solution. Eventually, after all of this, I learned that the refills I was calling about had expired and I needed to contact my doctor's office. That's perfectly fine and wasn't the issue. What bothered me was the way that information was communicated, almost as though because I didn't currently have an available prescription, my frustration over spending 30 minutes trying to reach the pharmacy somehow wasn't valid. Whether I had 10 prescriptions waiting or none at all has nothing to do with the problem. A customer should be able to call the pharmacy and reach someone within a reasonable amount of time, and if there is a phone-system problem, management should take ownership of it rather than becoming defensive with the customer. Management positions require more than knowing store procedures. They require knowing how to de-escalate a frustrated customer instead of escalating the situation further. This manager needs additional customer-service training. A sincere apology and a simple "Let me see what I can do to help you" would have completely changed this interaction. Instead, I got defensiveness and attitude after already spending 30 minutes trying to get someone on the phone. Walgreens can do much better than this.
