Before I joined, I visited several churches. Some were kind, others felt distant. I always wanted a faith community that would welcome me as I am--especially as a young adult on the autism spectrum. I needed a space that embraced inclusion, patience, and real connection. I never quite found that--until I crossed paths with the missionaries. In what I can only describe as divine timing, I met Elder McBride and Elder Allen in the parking lot at my job the very same day I had been talking with my mom about wanting to find a church again. That moment started a journey that completely changed my life. Since that day, here's what I've found: * A deeper connection with God through studying the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and learning about Christ's gospel. * Peace, even in the midst of life's challenges and stress. * A welcoming and supportive community--not once have I been made to feel like an outsider. * A meaningful commitment through baptism, which I chose to make on October 13, 2024. No one pressured me to join. No one rushed me. I felt guided by the Spirit, and every step confirmed that this is where I'm meant to be. If you're thinking about the Church... Come with an open heart. Ask questions. Listen to the Spirit. You may find, like I did, that what you've been searching for spiritually is already reaching out to you. Joining the Church has been the best decision I've ever made. It brought me closer to God, helped me find purpose, and gave me a spiritual home I never thought I'd have. And I wouldn't trade it for anything. The Curious Case of Mormon "Community": Where "Welcome!" Means "See Ya Later"…read moreAh, the Mormon church. A place where community is everything--except when it's not. Imagine this: you go through a major spiritual rite, you're baptized, and you expect at least a smidgen of follow-up. A call? A text? A hint that you're now a part of the fold? Nope. Crickets. My personal experience of being baptized and then seemingly ignored is like some strange inside joke: you think you've joined a tight-knit community, but it's more like you've joined an exclusive club where the exclusivity applies to... talking to each other. And don't even get me started on the Young Single Adult events. The grand promises of a thriving community of like-minded peers never really materialize into much. These "events" are often more lifeless than a Tuesday night in a small town, with all the effort of planning a trip to the DMV. Community-building? Eh, maybe next year. The irony? The church's staunch stance on caffeine in coffee. Coffee--a simple, humble beverage--is verboten. Meanwhile, there's an unspoken green light for energy drinks that pack the caffeine punch of three espressos, loaded with who-knows-what chemicals to get the heart racing. Maybe coffee just didn't come in cans when the rules were made? Whatever the reason, there's no caffeine problem when it's served up in candy-colored cans with neon branding. Ultimately, the church claims to be a close-knit, wholesome community. In practice, though, it's a little less "we're family" and a bit more "we'll call you." And they might even call... just don't hold your breath.

What we have in common is not one creed or dogma; we believe a great deal of different things within the congregation, from atheism and agnosticism to monotheism to polytheism and belong. Some believe in the power of God or love, in the power of energy or magic, or in the simple power of a caring community, some good coffee and some laughter shared between friends & acquaintances. What unites us is our simple desire to be united: to be in community together, sharing discussions on our beliefs or the world or whatever sportsball game just happened or is soon to happen, and to work toward a better, more compassionate, more conscientious world. This is a liberal congregation which welcomes all who come through its doors, so long as they are with us on the long path toward an open mind, a true awareness of the world and the desire to form a loving and supporting community for all who seek it. Imperfect but worthwhile and ever growing together. Always searching out new eyes to help us see our own reflections and make sure we strive not only for our best selves, but for the best community we can be: one which truly cares. Come on in! All welcome: all sexes, races & ethnicities, genders & expressions, orientations, ages, ability, income/class and beliefs. We would love to see you!
