Really screwed me over with a penalty and people on the phone were ridiculously rude.

They are technically "buying" 5 star reviews, and they are teaching the students to pass the road…read moretest, not teaching them to be competent drivers. In the classroom portion of the class, the instructor was eating during class on a regular basis, and one time brought her puppy and put him in a separate room, where it was apparently not happy, and it proceeded to disturb the class the whole time. When it was time to take the written test, they offered the students "extra credit" points if their parents left a 5 star review for City Express. Hence the claim that they are buying the great reviews. After getting the permit, the school does not want to start the behind the wheel portion of the training until the child had 25hrs of driving experience with their parents. Which effectively means that I was teaching her how to drive, and the school was teaching her how to pass the test. They did nothing at all to teach them how to parallel park, but made sure they know how to park on a hill(which, in the age of automatic transmissions, is useless). So in summary I feel like I paid City Xpress almost $500 to buy my child a drivers license, that I had to train her for. I would not recommend this school.

Zero communication with families after money is collected. Changed dates twice without letting us know ahead of time. If you kindly let them know in an email, your reply is unprofessional. This place is so unprofessional it's unbelieveable. The only reason I went to them was because they…read moreare the only on in the area. There used to be more but they are all gone now. One of the driving instructors is rude to the kids that are obviously just learning to drive. Making idiotic rude remarks isn't going to help them. Perhaps he should find himself a new career since dealing with teens isn't his strong suit. It takes them an eternity to answer emails and voicemails then they lie and say you never left one. They sure do take your money quick though. If you have a different choice of driving school, go with them and don't waste your time with these rude and inconsiderate people.

And so in the message (because all of their calls goes straight to taking messages) I mentioned everything TCDS said to put in the email. The phone message was long since they request for a lot of information for cancellations. The response I recieved rudely said "I couldn't last listening to your message that was, like, 10 minutes long. Just put that information in an email". End of message. Prior to making the call, I had already sent them an email with all that information and so her rude demand was unnecessary. And the exaggeration of the length of the message (that was really only 2-4 minutes long with the information they themselves request for) was uncalled for. In addition, I was scheduled for a behind-the-wheel between 5:00 and 5:30. Starting at 5:00, my dad and I literally stared out the house windows nonstop, waiting for the BTW instructor to arrive. Ten minutes after the time window, we tried calling TCDS but it literally only goes to taking messages so there was no one to ask about this tardiness. After every three minutes that passed by after that, I continued to check to see if anyone arrived. No one came by at all and by 7:00, it was time to accept that TCDS cannot manage themselves well enough to even notify a student that they simply could not hold up their end of this prescheduled BTW session.

Very responsive any time I've reached out for help and we've had no issue what so ever scheduling behind the wheel training or make up classes. Make ups can be done either at a couple of different time slots during the week with a self-taught option, or you can wait for that day's class to be retaught in another session and the student can sit in on it. Per SOS rules, driving sessions have to be 2 weeks apart minimum and students have to hold their permits for 9 months, so really there's plenty of time to get drives in unless you have a super inflexible, jam packed schedule. We couldn't be more pleased with our experience - far more convenient than doing it over the summer through the school for my mid spring term bday son and it didn't take up a timeslot in his school day either. Plus, again, the bonus of law enforcement officers as instructors. Win win win all the way around! Highly recommend.

Notice that most, if not all of the five star reviews of this school have been posted by students…read morewho found the classes "fun--" Teachers are witty," "videos were entertaining." It's fine to make a class fun and entertaining, but in the end, driving is serious business and there's a lot to learn and know in order to drive safely. My experience with this driving school as a parent was not good, to say the least! Each evening that I picked up my daughter after class, I asked her what she did in class and what she learned. Without fail, she said she learned nothing because all they did was watch videos about the perils of driving while under the influence or while texting. She said the teacher could often be heard giggling at the horrific accidents depicted in the films! When I take my daughter out on the road for sessions behind the wheel, it is clear that she learned absolutely nothing about driving and following the rules of the road in her classes conducted by this driving school. My daughter scored a hundred percent on her written test at the DMV office, so she knows her signs etc., but bring her to a four way stop and she's clueless. This school's shortcomings don't end in the classroom either. It is nearly impossible to schedule behind the wheel instruction sessions because there simply aren't enough teachers or open slots for all students to get time with an instructor for behind the wheel training. I will probably have to enroll my daughter in another driving school in order for her to get the necessary mandatory behind the wheel training. In short, if you want your teen to actually learn all there is to learn about safe driving on our nation's roadways, choose a different school.
