I was in the beginning stretch of a cross country rode trip when my car started acting funny and the check engine light had turned on. I pulled off the highway and stopped immediately at the first mechanic I could find. They ran the computer to find out that it was the catalytic converter BUT I knew enough to know that just the computer test is not a definite. They guy at the first place I stopped was super pushy (told me I had to make the decision now or they wouldn't get the part), quoted me at over 800 dollars and the other mechanics there were all talking rudely to each other and didn't seem to care about each other or their customers. I got an extremely bad vibe so I looked up a couple places and found Hillside Service center. I called them up and he eased my mind immediately! He asked if they had done a smoke test or a pressure test to make sure it was the catalytic converter and they had not. He asked me if I could make it to him and he would check all of that for me. I am so happy I trusted my gut and found Hillside Service center! It did turn out to be the catalytic converter, unfortunately, but he quoted me at a much more reasonable price and he replaced my spark plugs for free. The whole process + labor time took less than a couple hours and I was back on the road heading to California. At the time, I was scared being alone on a road trip and upset about how much this all was costing. With my nerves all over the place, I found myself crying in the parking lot while trying to figure out funds to afford the work. And I cannot express how grateful I was for the father and son at hillside service center. They made me feel as much at ease as was possible in that moment. He could probably tell I was flustered so while his son worked on the car he made an effort to to have a nice conversation with me. His overt friendliness did not go unnoticed! These two men are extremely honest, hardworking mechanics and I could tell the second he picked up the phone for me. The waiting room was clean and accommodating. The way they interact with each other and their customers shows that they put love and respect into their work and their business. I will probably never find myself in Lock Haven, PA or at Hillside again but I'm so grateful that I did that day. Thank you!!

Me and my boyfriend were on the road to oregon when our alternator went out. We stalled right…read moreoutside this shop. The guy inside seemed helpful at first, he took a look at our battery and alternator and confirmed the problem (charged us $25 for this which i thought was fair). Then he told us he couldn't find the part any where and advised us to baby the car to the next town and get the part there. We didn't think this was a good idea so my boyfriend called around and found the part. The guy said he would order it and it would be there the next morning. So we got a hotel room and came in the next morning. Guess what NO PART! He told our tow truck driver that he didn't even order the part!!!!!!! Thank god our tow truck driver has a shop and took us over to get it fixed AND found the part at a cheaper price. If you're looking for courteous service don't go to MANN GARAGE! They're just looking for easy money and are not in the mood to serve stranded travelers! They cost me a whole day of travel, $25 and another $100 for a hotel room!
