This is the jewel of the Hollywood Rose Hill Neighborhood. The gardens are maintained by…read moreneighborhood volunteers (including USC students who help during The Big Event every year). We have many neighborhood generated improvements through the years by partnering with the city and getting grant funding, such as putting up shade sails over the playground and more tables around the park perimeter. It is a great place for neighborhood events, for reading a book, playing games on the lawn, having a picnic, doing outdoor yoga, walking through with or without a dog. This is not a dog park, so dogs need to stay on a leash at all times, as they do throughout the city except in your own yard and at designated dog parks. We are getting a new water fountain and there are two faucets in the park. The pavillion is covered and has 2 picnic tables. There is also an Historic Columbia sign telling about the history of the park and the HRH neighborhood. We love our park and think you will too.

The annual July 4th event is the biggest in the area and is great for families. The park also features a farmer's market one day a week, and other events featuring food trucks and vendors. There is ample parking, picnic tables and a historic town hall. One event that is fun for the kids is the painted rock hunt. People have painted rocks and have scattered them throughout the area kids can pick them up as they see them, take pictures of them, and hide them for others to find. This is a great park!

There's also a zip line for the kids which is really cool. The swings are on another side of the area park. It's either baby swing or your normal big kid/adult swing. There's open field space. And then, another reason this park is so great is the splash pad for the kids. I will say the water pressure is not hitting on much this summer. I'm wondering what's up with that. However, we are grateful for the little sprinkle that we are receiving when the water shoots out. Even still, this is a nice and sometimes shaded park. Just be prepared for the splash pad. Sesquicentennial state park is beautiful! They have 4 trails, including one trail (Sandhills trail)…read morethat loops around the lake, which makes for some great photos during sunrise or sunset. They have a little visitor center when you can buy a bunch of souvenirs, snacks, and can get a stamp in your SC state parks passport. If this review was solely on the trails and beauty, it would be a 5/5 but unfortunately the campsite brings it down a bit. The campsite is on the larger side, and has 3 bathhouses to accommodate the area (close to you). You are given the basics like a picnic table & fire ring. Sites 1-29 have 20/30/50 amps, and 36-84 have 20/30 amp electric hookups. Sites 1-9 are full service (also have sewer). These sites do not give you a lot of privacy, and it seems like they built as many sites as they could in a confined area instead of spreading the sites out a bit to give the camper a bit more privacy. The bathhouses are clean, but are very dated and are in desperate need of a renovation. If you are not a camper, you will be charged an entrance fee of $6 if you are an adult, $3.75 for seniors (65+), or $3.50 for children (6-15). Overall, a 5/5 for the beauty of the park and amenities outside of the campsite, but 2/5 for the campsite itself.

Lots of foot traffic and people visiting my table. It is a very well maintained public park, and they have paved walking paths. There is also a hard standing building in the park that has both a male and female restrooms. Bathroom where maintained and clean. This park also has plenty of trees which allows you to excercise under the shade of the trees. Lots of vendors selling a large variety of items and food. Check the website for the entertainment line up. Security and the ambulance where in site for our safety, very much appreciated. This will be a yearly event for me to attend.
