On Magazine Street in New Orleans I came across a tiny boutique where everything is Mardi Gras themed. Mardi Gras is in March, but the preparations have already started. At Trendz everything purple, green and gold is shimmery, sparkly and glittering! You can stand out from the crowd with can't be missed headgear, earrings, rings and beaded things. Cute store with lots of seasonal items for a much better price than some more popular stores. Easy to find on Magazine, we parked a few blocks down. The store itself is pretty small and jam packed, so it was a lot a maneuvering around displays and customers. It does not look like they stock many sizes in each clothing item, likely due to the size of the store. It sounds like there were more sizes in the back based on one customer's question, but it was busy and just slowed things down when the employee had to go check, so I didn't bother asking about the one I was looking at. I absolutely recommend Trenz to get affordable accessories. It was really busy when we went, so I will give the three girls behind the counter grace at their friendliness, as I know "people-ing" gets exhausting. I would go back and hopefully catch it in the off season. I love my earrings and headband purchased that day, though! read more

My daughter and her friend wanted to go to Lakeside Mall. It was such a nice day I asked them to take a walk on Magazine Street first. A friend had recommended Trendz and she was right. Prices are great earrings & necklaces starting around $5, just know that it's never going to be an heirloom piece and will prob last a handful of wears. But if you're looking for a few dollars of happiness that won't increase your waistline, pop in here! They also have on trend handbags, vests, and great seasonal items (currently Mardi Gras wigs & hairpieces/headbands) at really reasonable prices. For example, I saw a white long sleeved sweatshirt with muted Mardi Gras colored stripes across the chest for $28, while I had paid $36 at Fleurty Girl, several blocks down. The 20 or so pairs of shoes they sell are cheap and prob not worth your time, but there are sunglasses, flash tats, candles, and lots of other accessories to keep you shopping without breaking the bank. Prices for ALL that stuff are generally in the 6-20 dollar range. I've hardly ever seen anything more than $30. I'm not deducting any stars bc you get what you pay for so here is the catch- some of their stuff is going to change colors. Look, when you get an $8 necklace, you probably won't be able to wear it more than 5 or 6 times. I'm ok with that. Go to michaels and grab some cheap gold plated fish hooks to switch out with their earrings. You'll get lots more wear out of them! They always have cute seasonal stuff for dress-up too! I deducted a star due to their quickness on Instagram. It seems whenever they post new pictures on their instagram account, whoever is in charge of answering intrigued clients, does not do that well of a job. Specifically, I have commented on a pair of Rose Gold Mules for well over a month and finally I gave up. This place is such a hidden gem that I almost don't want to review it really. So everyone, let's keep this on the down low. This jewelry store ALWAYS has at least 3 things that I can't leave without buying. Why is it so hard to NOT buy something here? Because the prices are so ridiculously low and not only is the jewelry typically adorably fashionable, but also very sharp witted and tasteful. Something for any occasion from loud and frilly spring time scarves and rings to sleek business dinner necklaces and watches. It would be a crime against myself if I didn't buy everything I wanted here. I think there's 2 women who work in the store, and both have great taste in shop music. Complained about the girl (not the daughter of owner nor owner) because she went off on my mom for accidentally hitting a display with purse in passing. Visited the store 2 days later and gave her my card to have owner call me. Spoke with owner, very nice. She apologized. Employee called me and threatened me saying "they don't believe you" "I am going to filing a restraining order" said crazy things!!!! Was appalled! I'm in town visiting my friend from new orleans and I stopped into Trendz, as per her recommendation, to buy a nice souvenir necklace to mark my visit. My friend and I entered the store while her boyfriend waited outside with their puppy pitbull. While inside the store, two customers were trying to leave and appeared to be afraid of our dog. Instead of commuting to us or going and asking for him to move the dog, Jessica, the store employee, began to make passive aggressive gestures trying to get him to move, as well as make rude remarks ("the nerve of some people") about my friend's boyfriend. My friend responded saying that he was her boyfriend and dog waiting outside and that she would go wait with them, to prevent any additional discomfort for the employee or customers. As I went to the counter to purchase my item, Jessica proceeded to continue making rude comments about my friend, specifically "I'm sorry your friend got offended, I'm just being honest." I was utterly shocked and didn't respond, to which she replied, multiple times, "are you seriously not going to respond?" I left the store in complete shock and frustration as to what occurred. I believe the entire situation could have been diffused if she asked him to move away from the entrance or talk to us personally about the matter. We both were planning on purchasing more items but the entire situation made us so uncomfortable that our shopping excursion was cut short. I'm writing this in hope that the issue is addressed with the employee and no future customers experience the service that I did. read more
