((4.5 stars)) Tremblay Apiaries is a farmer's stand of honey and honey-derived products sold at the Union Square Greenmarket on Saturday and Friday. stopped by here to check out the honey options and Tremblay Apiaries has plenty of them. spoke with one of the friendly people at the stand who guided me to a bottle of raw unfiltered honey that's from upstate New York. the honey i bought was the "Linden" variety which is kinda like a light yellow amber honey that has a bold honey flavor with subtle floral and citrus notes...the honey is obviously sweet but tastes fresh not sugary if that makes sense. a little bit of this honey goes a long way versus a store bought brand. the honey tastes like a pure raw honey product...nature's dessert in a glass bottle. there were other honey-related products like ointments, tinctures, balms, etc. that stuff is not my thing, but if you're into all-natural care products then this might be for you. beyond the honey being really good...supporting a family-run business is an added bonus. Tremblay Apiaries honey is the best honey I've ever tasted, bar none. A family member has sent me a couple of 2 lb glass jars over the years...obtained from the Union Square Green Market or the online website where you can order a range of products including lip balm, soap, candles, honey dippers, etc. I'm curious about trying Al's Sweet Heat Honey on some cornbread. But it's the linden honey (as well as the floral varieties) that has me sold on this artisanal, small batch honey brand. The flavor tends to be rather subtle and the honey itself is not cloyingly sweet. And the taste is incredible. Tremblay has been around for 50 years, from what i understand. And I hope they keep selling great honey to the public for years to come. Highly recommended! read more

If you've hit the NYC Greenmarkets scene, then at some point you have seen these guys. Hands-down this is some of the best honey I have ever tasted and it's local (for all you people with seasonal allergies). They features lots of different types of honey but my favorite is the one labeled with an "L" for honey made from Linden Trees. Omg. If you have ever had the pleasure of eating a Minnesotan Honeycrisp apple, this is what is would taste like in honey form. My friend is also obsessed with their creamed honey. I was inspired to look them up on Yelp and review so I can rave about their honey. We met their farm stand in Union Square, NYC. The friendly guy was inviting passer-bys to sample their autumn crop, so we tried a toothpick-ful of Bamboo and Fall. It tasted so good I was sold on the spot and bought 5 lb of the dark colored "BB" honey for $20. I suffer from chronic seasonal allergy and had always gone to Jenkins & Leuken in New Paltz, NY to buy local honey. However, comparing to Jenkins & Leuken's honey (which is sold also at 5 lb for $20), Tremblay's honey has more variety, richer taste and more pleasant flavor. I went to the Union Square Market 2012. Ever since I bought a bottle of their Linden honey, I have become an addict. I never even liked honey before I used Temblay's. I put it in my greek yogurt every morning and it is soooo delicious. It's true, very simply stated "There is nothing like Tremblay Apaiaries Honey". And, I NEVER write reviews. Best honey for your buck. Really delicious, and I am a long time consumer of honey. You'll never buy store bought honey again after buying here. Such distinctly pleasant flavors and varieties! Another yelp success story! Living in Binghamton, I had never heard of Temblay Apiaries until Gail B's review. And the discovery couldn't have come at a better time..... I was looking for a large quantity of honey to ferment some mead. I contacted them and drove out to Van Etten (which is a beautiful drive, by the way). Allen, the beekeeper (and Apiarian?), was super nice and even gave a quick tour/tutorial on his bees and hives. His setup is incredible. And the honey..... incredible. I used most of it for the mead, but there was some leftover, and let me say that it is some of the most flavorful honey I've had. Great stuff. I will definitely be returning for more! I am buying their honey for over two years every second week. It is the best local raw honey you can find in NYC. Sometimes I just a make a trip to Union Square on Saturday to get their jar of honey. I am huge supporter of local businesses and I am glad to see local produce in NYC. Keep up the good work. read more

RAW. UNFILTERED. PURE. 5 lbs of these badboys for $20. There are about 4 flavors to choose from going from light colored honey to dark. The light colored honey tasted like buttery goodness, I have never tried honey this good. You have to taste it to believe it. I bought the darkest color honey because it tasted just as good and I wanted an aesthetic change as well. You guys should throw away your "dollar processed honey" and just buy this nutritious jar of pure, raw, unfiltered honey. read more

Over the last couple of decades I've bought several flavors of lots of honey and other honey products from Tremblay at their stand at Union Square. I've bought comparable flavors from other vendors. Tremblay is one of 2 honey vendors I have preferred. The other vendor retired a few years ago. Unlike the products of its current competitors, Tremblay sells honey that has the distinct flavor that it claims that its honey has. That is, when it marks a lid with a black 'O' I've found it reliably to taste like orange; there is no other marking on the bottle to indicate it is orange. The same goes for its apple, summer flower, linden (one of the mildest, and least flavored of its honeys), and on through its various honeys. The flavors that are available vary by season. I visit their Union Square stand often and see what is currently for sale. Sometimes I don't buy anything. Sometimes I buy something. I have always been pleased with what I've purchased from Tremblay. read more

There is nothing better than Tremblay Apiaries, just love it! I never even liked honey until I tasted their pure & raw honey in so many flavors...my 2 favorites are the Linden and Summer Flower, however all of them are amazing! I just go to the Union Sq Farmer's Market to stock up on it, I will never buy any other honey ever again! It's actually cheaper and better quality than anything you will buy in the store! read more

This is some of the most wonderful honey I've ever had in my life. I have it every morning in my tea, and now I'm completely spoiled. I'm considering traveling with a small jar... And not only is the honey fabulous (i like the "SF" summerflower) but the folks who run the stand at Union Square are always pleasant, helpful, and obviously really excited by beekeeping. yep. 5. seriously. i was visiting a friend in manhattan and we made a trip out to the union square greenmarket and came across this honey. fantastic. aromatic, well priced, delicious honey. and the people selling it are nice, too. if i could have reasonably fit more into my backpack and had more cash on me, i would have bought one of each type. SO good. i just took another taste and am still floored. here's to hoping these guys have a long and fruitful business life. read more
