It's located within a few blocks, or about a 5 minute walk (if you're a fairly fast walker) from the metro, for convenience. There are restaurants nearby, although the ones we tried weren't very good and I wouldn't recommend them. There is a small convenience store that is opened until 11 located a block away. The room we got is more like a studio with a small kitchen, some pots and pans, 3 plates, cups, and bowls for the three of us. We had two comfortable full size beds and individual lights located above the headrest in case you want to read at night. The bathroom was on the small size, although I really like the tiles on the shower (no bath tub). As for the cons, the room was on the dark side. The bathroom light is sensor, which stinks because it's always turning off when it doesn't detect motion. Hot water seems to run out in the evenings, which is when we take our showers after a long day walking about. The elevator is so small that it barely fits the three of us and our luggage (which consists of 2 large backpacks and a rolling duffel bag). And for some odd reason, I had the hardest time with the elevator button. It seems I don't have the magic touch or something, because I have to press it about a half dozen times or more before it turns red, indicating that the lift is on its way to our floor. AND, the keyhole doesn't seem to like me either because I have a hard time opening the door. The slot keeps spinning when I try to insert the key. Lastly, there is no central air, but instead there is a loud standing air conditioner situated by the dining table. If you're not standing or sitting close to it, you're not feeling the cold air. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you're looking for a cheap place and don't mind taking cold showers.

However given the steep nature of the streets, it's not a walk you would like to take everyday. Luckily the metro station is very close and quite cheap and easy. The staff were perhaps the kindest I have ever seen anywhere. They went out of their way to make sure you're experience is perfect in every way. The rooms are clean and comfortable and offer all the required amenities. Out room had an air-conditioner and we were really happy with it.

Checked in late and had a room with the mattress ON THE FLOOR - no bed! I asked for extra bedding…read more(blanket and pillow), and you would have thought I asked the lady to have a child for me. The "Free Wifi" did not work beyond the door of my bedroom, and could not be corrected, so I incurred $100 in overage fees from my carrier. The hotel did not care, could not correct, and was not willing to refund. What they did offer was to help me find another hotel and provide the number to my tour company (in a condescending manner) since I wasn't satisfied with the resolution of the issues. As far as they were concerned, they were paid and it was my problem. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone under any circumstances.

We bought tickets to see the main collection and the Masters collection. For me, 2-3 stars for accessibility to very difficult to navigate as many steps, ledges, slopes to enter each space. I didn't see an elevator/lift. The walkway into the building with the gallery is also sharply angled and cobbled, which makes it hard for anyone with balance issues. Once inside, it is clean and quiet. Simple, but pretty. Unfortunately, my tolerance for crucifix art is limited, so I skipped nearly the whole main gallery. But I enjoyed the Masters gallery in another building across the street, and I love sculpture, so I'd give that gallery a 4. The cafe was hard to find and the wait was exceedingly long to just buy a Pepsi and a bowl of soup, not sure what was going on. All seating was occupied and it was loud and crowded in the cafe, but the galleries were nice and quiet. My family loved both galleries, all floors of each. They are into religious art and have much better endurance, so they stayed in the main gallery for another hour, while I found the cafe.

On a clear, crisp morning in October, I made a short stop here to admire the architecture of this…read morebuilding. From both viewing it from the plaza outside and wandering its interior, it surely is a unique structure to behold! Sitting along a square that includes other Art Deco and Art Nouveau buildings, Palác Adria stands out in its elaborate style lines outlining every window, and the crenellations* on its roof! This faux palace was built for Italian insurance company Riunione Adriatica di Sicurta in 1923-24, in the Rondo-Cubist style (Czech Art Deco), an angular blocky aesthetic that featured alternating angular and rounded window pediments. The building was designed by Czech architect Josef Zasche in collaboration with architect Pavel Janak's input on the color scheme of the exterior facade. Inside, the passageways and interior design are fabulous! Marble, glass and brass in deliberate curves paired geometric shapes are a treat for your eyes--the beautiful mosaic floor with a Venetian ship motif and the ceiling chandelier in the inner lobby particularly stood out. The main atrium showcases an astronomical clock (not as complex as the famous Orloj) with sculptures depicting the zodiac. Other businesses that are housed within this building include: Adria Café which is well-known for its terrace overlooking the plaza outside, the Adria Theatre (birthplace of Laterna Magika** and meeting place of the Civic Forum during the Velvet Revolution***, an antique book dealer, and a small gallery displaying works by local artists. The theatre club which used to operate here was known to be frequented in the 1960s by former Czech President Václav Havel. While it was early in the morning around 9am and the Galerie kritiků (Critic's Gallery 40 CZK full admission / 20 CZK reduced) nor theatre were open, I did a quick spin inside and was still impressed by the parts I did get to see! *overall jagged pattern of the battlement at the top of a castle wall, with alternating gaps (crenels) and solid upright sections (merlons). **a theatre ensemble part of the National Theatre of Prague, considered the world's first multimedia theatre performance group. ***the non-violent transition of power in what was then Czechoslovakia, occurring November 17-28 1989, including demonstrations against the single party Communist government and resulting in the conversion to a parliamentary republic.
