Before you hire a landscaper, beware. On January 16th, the crew from this company was working on my neighbor's yard, a branch fell on my garden and destroyed my 20 papayas. ALL my plants were destroyed by them, 6 were ready to be on the ground, and the other 14, were 2 months old plants which I grew from seeds. The owner gave me his word he would replace them. I called him yesterday and he hung up on me. Something to consider when you are an honorable person and this person may damage your neighbor's property and will choose not to do the "right" thing. read more

Booked their palm tree, weeds and removal services after seeing a coupon. At first I was happy with the quality of work even though the price seemed high. But after paying full price they never completed the job. My removal service I paid for was not complete and they became unresponsive. In addition the weed spraying seemed to be lazily done since weeds popped up shortly after. You can find better options. read more

This is a difficult review to write, as I have never given less than 5 stars for a review. To start, Matt is a very nice person. He showed up on time for our initial consultation, discussed the project with me, and quoted a price for labor plus materials for building some planters and a storage cabinet for my new outdoor kitchen. Right off the bat, the purchase of materials was out of control - they cost 3 times what he estimated. His explanation: "you have to understand, materials are very expensive right now." OK, I went along. He said the project would be completed in 3 days. It took 10. His explanation: "you have to understand, I am trying to make this look great." I was patient (also acknowledging that he had a family emergency). He told me the planters would match my fence and barbeque area, and yet, he purchased materials that did not match. His explanation: "you have to understand, the store did not have wood trim in the same size, and trust me, this will look great." By this point I admonished him that no, I did not need to understand, and no I did not need to trust him. I hired him to be the expert and to handle the agreed-upon project, which was not being executed. He and his workers regularly arrived late in the day (around 4 p.m.) and worked well into the evening. I had to cut them off because they were still cutting wood at 9:00 p.m. - not ok in my quiet residential neighborhood. Every day it was something else, including the day he asked me to pay for a new saw blade. I refused - having spent a substantial amount of money on home remodeling recently, I know that this type of equipment should be accounted for in his cost of doing business. But by this point, in reviewing the receipts for materials, I found that he had even already included work gloves and other items in the materials costs that I paid. In addition, I paid him a deposit when he wrote the contract, and an additional progress payment at the end of the first day of work, as agreed. While the final balance was due upon completion, he returned to me asking for another sizeable progress payment before much additional work had been completed. We did negotiate a schedule for some small incremental payments, but Matt wisely did not ask for them until the project was complete. I originally called Matt because I was looking for someone to handle landscaping (planting and irrigation), and when he said he was not interested in that part of the project, he offered to help with the building component. In retrospect, I should not have taken the offer, but it also appears that he was out of his league and should not have taken the job. The results are nice, but the amount of supervision and direction I had to provide, along with the amount of aggravation that I experienced, were not worth it. Perhaps he is good at weed removal, but I will never know. read more
