They tied up each branch before they cut and lowered it to the ground before chopping it into manageable chunks. They chipped up all of the branches, hauled away all of the wood, and cleaned up nicely when they were done. After extensive interviews, I recently chose MV Tree in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to perform major…read moretree trimming on my 5-acre property.  I could not have been more satisfied!   As a construction professional, I look for six key indicators of a Quality Tree Service:  1) verified insurance and licensing; 2) certified professionals; 3) a solid reputation with previous clients and customers; 4) workers who exhibit professionalism and safety; 5) a detailed written estimate of what is to be performed with the exact cost; and 6) solid references.   MV Tree hits all these key indicators like no other.   The owner, Matt Velderman, met with me to ascertain what I wanted done and made some knowledgeable recommendations on items I had not thought of.  He is an authentic, sincere owner/operator who takes great pride in his service and the people he hires.  He personally supervised the entire two-day project with employees who exhibited professionalism and safety handling chain saws, woodchippers and bobcat excavators.  They left my property clean, neat, and undamaged, looking better, in fact, than when they arrived.   Be very careful when contracting for tree service.  Many fly-by-night operators with a rusty pickup truck and a chainsaw will quote either a price outrageously high or unrealistically low.  You will most assuredly not be happy with either of these types of businesses.   However, Matt's bid hit squarely in the Goldilocks zone:  not too high and not too low but just right for a job well done.  I recommend MV Tree without reservation.

He was very polite and work began in May. Him and his team showed up exactly the time he said they would. Those guys were amazing. They worked so hard on a very hot day, accomplished all tearing out and 3/4 of replacing that wall. Finished the next day and put the fence back up. It looks great. Spoke with Tim at the office and he cannot even send me an invoice until the end of day. Run do not use these people. Also to note: They came the day after they said they would be there, they did not call I had to reach out. I gave a pass on this as there was a major storm, but not very professional to not call. I had to call the office 6 times before they answered this morning. Charged for clean up, however there are still 3 large pieces of tree in my yard. They're was some type of manager (Lansing lesson) there because their Lansing crews had been "caught doing stuff they shouldn't" Do not use this company Edit / Follow up: After reaching out and waiting they did send me an invoice for just over 8500 for the same job, never did receive an invoice for the 13 thousand that they sent to my insurance company. This still seems excessive to me and I did reach out and they were unwilling to lower it any more. They charge for a full 8 hour day no matter how long they are actually on the job, which they state is standard practice, however none of the other three tree companies I called do this. I never received a response to my email questioning this, however, Rebecca was able to email me within minutes when I asked where to send the check. The contact that they make you sign leaves absolutely no protection for you the customer, they can do what ever they want and there is no recourse, including not honoring any estimate given. If you don't pay within 30 days they will charge you interest. This is a predatory company and they are very good at seeming like they are their to help until you get the invoice, then they will not help at all.

Then they cut down a handful of trees that were not marked and we're not in the power line right or way. They came back to speak to me once I complained and told me yeah, you could have trimmed that tree just fine but we cut it down so too bad. Tried to claim I was being sensitive for being upset they cut down a tree that blocked the headlights from the road into my bedroom and on my property. And told me to go pound sand in no uncertain terms. Complete lack of 'integrity' and I would never hire them or allow them on your property for trimming ever. BEWARE!

One of my favorite parts of our backyard is the crimson king maple tree. It gives plenty of shade…read morefor my hammock in the summer and is a great spot to see different birds throughout the year, including a bunch of woodpeckers. When we first moved in, we noticed that the tree looked like it had been sealed with some black tar and we worried about its health. We called West Michigan Tree Services to come take a look at it, and they gave us some advice and a care plan. They treated the tree and injected some fertilizer into the roots. They did some other work to it as well in order to give it the best possible outcome. I'd hate to lose this tree, so I'm willing to invest some money into its care. Each spring I receive a tree care contract via email that includes the cost of service for that year and what will be done. If you pre-pay before a certain date, you get a 10% discount, and the work is done that spring. We've been doing this for the past few years, and our tree is looking great! I'm so thankful for the certified arborists and staff for helping us care for our tree. They also provide tree removal and stump grinding, pruning, and land and lot clearing services.
