This place hands down was the highlight of our Irish lodgings. We found the property on Airbnb…read more It's a 300 year old thatched roof cottage. 2 bedrooms (a master with a queen bed and another room with twin beds) one bath, a family room, and a kitchen. It just looks and feels what you think of when you think Irish Cottage. The cool thing is you can stay there for 2 nights and you don't have to rent the whole week...although you definitely should. And will kick yourself like I am for not spending more time there. In 20 minutes you can walk the parimeter of the whole town. The bonus is there is access to Kells Priory a mere 5 minutes walk from the house. It is sooooo cool to go around there and look at the ruins. There are two abandoned mills to look at too. There is a cool pub that makes pizza, called Shirley's. Kells is close to the medieval town of Kilkenny. You could drive to Wicklow, Waterford, Wexford, whatever from there. Closeby is Stoneyford which has a cheese shop and good take away Indian food. The owners of the property are right next door and are suuuper cool.

Always. We were picked up at the airport and taken to.our first hotel. We had nothing yo think about except where our next exciting day would be. Our drivet/tour guideKevin took care of everything. He was a great guide and helped with any request. We are planning a 2nd trip next spring!

I was thrilled with my experience. Small Escorted Tours allows you to customize your itinerary and…read morethere is flexibility because it's only your group on the tour. Say you want to scratch something along the way... no problem! You're peering out the van window and see a sign for the pottery shop. Want to stop? Easy peasey! The only thing you're locked into is hotel accommodations. Included in the cost is ground transportation, daily breakfast and sleeping accommodations. During the planning process, we communicated mostly over email and they were very responsive. They're locals so they're able to offer suggestions but very willing to put together the tour the way you want it. For example, I was interested in touring some local cheese farms on my visit. While this is not an ordinary request, they did the research for me and suggested two farms for us to see. They were great suggestions and fully met my expectations. (Even my family members who were teasing me for wanting to visit a cheese farm were impressed!) Our driver, Maurice, most definitely, made our trip perfect! He listened to what we were interested in and offered suggestions along the way. He recommended restaurants/pubs. He explained Irish history and local lore -- including some blarney, which made for great laughs! He took us places we never would have found on our own or would've likely died trying (i.e. Connor Pass, Cong Abbey, Ballintubber). He gave us tips on when to pay an admission and when to admire from afar. He never steered us wrong! Icing on the cake: Because we had a driver there were no arguments over navigation or driving skills and there was an improved accountability for family members to be ready to go at designated times. Thinking of visiting Ireland? This is a great way to do it!

Very well organized and despite our late arrival, she had dinner for us. Breakfast was excellent. The rooms overlooked a scenic river and several historic buildings. Overall we'd all recommend this B&B because of the warmth, comfort and good food.

The owner, Julie, was as nice as a person can be (she even called someone to find me and pick me up when I left my passport in the room!) Its a popular hotel, and parking had extended across the grass lawns by late Saturday afternoon, as there was a Poker Classic on. Anyway, down to the food menu. Part of the stay is complimentary tea & scones on arrival; ours were still steaming they were so fresh from the over, yummy. Later then, two grilled sirloin steaks, mushrooms, onions, bowl of chips, side-salad if you ask nicely, accompanied by their new house red, a False Bay Shiraz at just €18, which washed it all down just nicely. The steaks were succulent right through. We chose to share a dessert then, a big slice of chocolate cake with choc sauce drooling over it. The choc sauce is tasty as its made in-house, not so the cake part; bought in apparently, a bit shall we say, saw-dusty ! They do good coffee though, and the full Irish next morning was delivered promptly to our room (extra charge of course) which just filled us up the more. This is a great voucher deal, watch out for it.

We were staying nearby Borris and needed to find somewhere to watch Ireland play in the Six Nations. Cue the Step House. As we were stragglers in terms of arriving in time, we still managed to find some good seats. There was a good crowd and a great atmosphere here for the rugby. A bit of banter with one of the barmen during the game paid off post match when he sorted us out with a table for some dinner. Then he waited on us really fantastically. Really attentive. And the food was great too.
