This is a great FREE place to take the older kids. It is an active AFB so you must check in at the visitor center. They do a quick background check and then you are driven to the museum via van. This museum has lots of cool artifacts from WWI, WW2,Korea and the Vietnam war. They have some cargo planes and jets outside of the building as well. There are a few flight simulators that the kids can climb on. Not far from there is the Jelly Belly factory so make a day of it and check them both out while your in the area.

Take the kids and enjoy your free admission to these great displays both inside the museum building and outside, all sizes, terrific. The kids will love the interesting exhibits as well as the opportunity to get outside and checkout the many planes on display. Inside exhibits include a space capsule for children, air force uniforms, the nose of a WWII glider, WWII aircraft recognition models, a link trainer, aircraft engines, and the cockpits of a T-28, a T-37, and a F-100. Outside see over 20 planes including fighters, bombers and transports. The museum website offers info on getting access to the base and direction to the museum. Highly recommended.

I only wish I found this museum earlier! There are a lot of planes outside so you at least know where to find the place. My GPS had me going the opposite direction so I had to ask. Along with the static aircraft display outside, there are a lots of static exhibits within, more aircraft and loads of history ~ did I mention great history lessons here? The place from the outside seemingly small, but it is a HUGE place and I spent two hours within with a friend, and we haven't seen everything yet! I must confess that the Berlin Airlift exhibit was a display I wanted to see and almost missed it; I had to return to see it and how creative having a path of Hershey chocolate bars hanging under small homemade parachutes, all leading to the exhibit! What surprised and shocked me was a tribute to Moon Island in (Masirah) Oman where I was situated during the days days of Desert Shield as it changed to Desert Storm. I had forgotten all about that little place and time in my military career and am so proud to see it from another viewpoint! When I get home to Spain, I'll have to look through my collection of patches and find one to send to the museum! Though one must be the holder of a military ID card (active, reservist or retired), I strongly recommend this place for kids and anyone who loves aviation, military equipment and planes, and *history* because this place is FULL of it! Go see it if you can get onbase - you won't regret it. It's so odd to enter this museum as there is no front desk... it's all Gratis/Free!!!

They have a full sized mercury capsule mockup that guests are allowed to sit inside of, and they have a t-37 trainer, an F-100, a T-28 and a C-5 trainer that you can all go inside of.

I cannot even count how many train museums we have visited. This past visit was for the Spring Wine Trains with my husband. Suggested to us by none other than our son. He now volunteers here!! YAY! We loved being in the parlor car- you get a charcuterie board and 3 tastings. The group was lively, the hosts were great. It was such a nice time and the weather was perfect that day. They explain the various wines (we had Caymus served to us) and you get a nice little tour of the land/area. We got to chat with our son who was the Operations Brakeman that day and what a treat...on the return ride back, we were offered the rear seats. It was the perfect way to end the ride. We took advantage that your ticket includes entrance to the museum, spring fair and the grounds. We walked around, checked out the trains, the fair and the gift shop. Parking is free and plenty of it is available.

I came here for the Holiday Lights train ride and light display…read more The train ride was not worth the money or time. The train had a string of lights strung around inside with a small speaker playing holiday music at the front of the train. There was nothing to look at during the 15-20 minute ride except some cows and a few wind turbines. The train basically went down the tracks 10 mins and then went back to station in the opposite direction. There were also many loud parents and uncontrolled kids on the train which did not make the experience enjoyable. The light display was okay. You got to see some cool old trains with holiday lights on them. But you could not enter any of the trains in the light display area. The lit up trains were simply a route to go see Santa. The Santa area was really dark which was not great for pictures. The staff promote a cafe with hot chocolate and cider after the train ride and light display. I got a spice cider for $6. It was not good. It was full of pulp and the spices were floating on top. It seemed like the staff did not stir up the cider before serving it. The museum and gift shop are really small and catered more towards kids. The gift shop had some adult clothes and souvenirs (magnets, small figures, etc.) but nothing extraordinary. Overall, I would not recommend this place for the Holiday Lights event. There are better holiday train rides and events in Old Town Sacramento.

My husband and I did the Napa City Ghosts & Legends Walking Tour last night as a Christmas gift,…read moreand I absolutely loved it. The tour guides (aka very accomplished paranormal investigators) were engaging, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about Napa's history and the paranormal. It was the perfect mix of spooky, fun, and fascinating -- we learned so much about downtown Napa along the way. We can't wait to do their Sonoma tour next and to watch the documentaries the tour leads are part of. Highly recommend!

Attendees become paranormal investigators during the tour, given several tools to track paranormal activity (spiritual dowsing rods, and a ghost hunting meter that measures electric signals (as ghosts give off electric signals). We made about 4-5 different stops that are either haunted or have affiliation with death, and Devin helped the group communicate with ghosts during some of the stops, combining storytelling with interesting historical events in Napa. We had a combination of skeptics and believers in our group, including at least one witch. I, of course, came for the entertainment, getting to talk about serial killers, learn a bit about history, and also get in a few laughs as Devin brings the humor as well. I did learn some new things, such as the difference between a ghost and a spirit, possible origins of the terms "lobbying" and "pulling my leg", and that Cole's Chop House (where my bf and I had dinner earlier that day) was formerly a mortuary. We ended at the courthouse, not where we started the tour, with the story of the last public execution in California which took place here in Napa. Overall, we had a fun time, and it's an unconventional way to tour the streets of Napa, and definitely enjoyable if you like ghost stories.
