They send you a app to pay for our loan, it worked once. You have to talk to a rep (when they finally answer) they say my acct # is wrong, I'm not on the acct etc. I have a letter from them saying I am on the acct. They charge you $15.00 to pay the loan. Then when you ask for a manager they leave you hanging for at least 15 minutes, then you get hung up on. Never will I use them or tell anyone to use them. read more

I am just here to share my most recent experience with Travis credit union and their terrible practices. If you're a person or family barely making it living paycheck to paycheck and don't have a hefty savings or investments account, They will absolutely not value you as a customer. Long story short, they unexpectedly closed all 6 of our accounts without warning. Funds all frozen and no way to get them back within a reasonable time. My husband had been on disability for a few weeks. So he had not been receiving his employers direct deposit into our joint account. But his personal account, which Edd gets direct deposit to, and my personal account, where I receive my employers direct deposit, (Zelle, Venmo & cashapp from my small business) have been active. There was a scheduled payment that we forgot about come out of our joint that over drafted our account. However there were funds in our personal and savings accounts that could have been transferred over to take care of that, but because our joint account had been inactive for longer then 45 days (no deposits or withdrawals or transactions), that was the reasoning why all accounts where closed. Not just the joint account in question. We thought we were being responsible by not using said account since my husband was not working. When I called and asked why I hadn't received a courtesy call, to warn us about closing all accounts, Jimmy R. Said "we don't do courtesy calls". This was extremely frustrating as we both had our direct deposits pending and rent due. The j Ku solution given was to return to the branch and open new accounts, but funds from old accounts would be sent by mail and take up to 10 business days. Pending direct deposits would bounce back, as accounts were no longer active. So opening new accounts would absolutely not solve our problem. Conveniently our car loan account was kept open so we could walk into any branch and pay off our loan at our convenience. I've been banking with Travis longer than 10 years. Never in my life have I felt so small. Given our financial hardship and not receive any sympathy. We weren't asking for anything but our funds same day so we can pay our rent and eat. We are still waiting for said check and Jimmy to give us an update. We w called back twice and both associates have let us know that there are notes from Jimmy and to just wait for his call. Yelp wants me to provide specific details of the incompetence at Travis CU, so here are some of the highlights! 1. I made the terrible decision to use TCU for my first mortgage a couple years ago. The first loan officer I spoke with, Maylyn, had no idea how the mortgage process works. She told me that FHA limits are the same in every county. I asked her to clarify because I had just looked it up and she was completely wrong. She said, in a documented email, that she was positive that they are the same in every county. Fifteen minutes later, after she actually looked it up, she sent me another email detailing the different limits for each county. If I hadn't questioned her, she would have continued to give me false information. 2. I changed loan officers and the next group, working under Blanca, among many other mistakes and lack of knowledge, asked my husband for his W2. He was a contractor at the time so he only had a 1099, which is the equivalent for contractors. They literally had no idea what a 1099 was and couldn't even comprehend how contractors document their taxes. 3. This summer, I deposited a check that my husband signed over to me, into my checking account and TCU rejected it because supposedly, they don't allow checks that are signed over to be deposited. They didn't tell me any of this and proceeded to block my account from depositing any checks at all for an entire year. When I finally got in touch with a customer service agent after spending all morning on the phone getting transferred from one person to another, they refused to remove the block due to their "policies." It wasn't until I complained to their management that someone finally realized my husband is a member and listed on our mortgage account, that they finally offered to remove the block. By then, I had already closed my account and moved all of my money to a better institution. 4. Two years after completing the disaster of a mortgage process, I was able to get a significant discount on my fire insurance... saving $3,000 a year. TCU then INCREASED our monthly payment by almost $500. When I finally got someone to respond to my questioning of this increase, they claimed that they miscalculated our projected payments and that if I don't pay them extra now, they will report me to the credit bureaus. At this point, I'm done with their constant mistakes and lack of communication. I'm moving my mortgage to a more reputable lender asap. I suggest you all do the same. read more

Travis just feels like a scam to me. We had emergency repair done on our HVAC and had to take out a loan in order to complete the repair. We are unable to change our monthly recurring payment amount, if we do an additional payment it takes the place of the recurring payment AND there is a $10 fee meaning that it costs us money to do additional payment even from our bank that has already been established as the payment source, we are unable to add my spouses name to the loan so we cannot pay from another account!! This is ridiculous. They are making it very difficult to pay off our loan in the way want to in order to save ourselves money and cut down on the interest. In the 1.5 years we have had this loan, half of our payments has only gone to interest. It's a scam. We went in person to see what else we could do and the only option they presented us with is giving checks to them in person that can only be applied to the principal. DO NOT USE TRAVIS! Patelco is a much more user friendly option and if we could get a matching apr % we would switch to Patelco straight away. read more

They literally had me sign a contract, open a card issued the line of credit issued and even had the card showing up in my account. Then the loan person that had an issue with me personally decided to suspend my card and funding which is now negatively affecting my credit situation because of it. They treated me like a criminal after an approval...I have a 706 score and it was an instant approval with no income docs required...Then everything changed when 1 person got involved well after I was approved...PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE!! If I could give this branch a zero, I would! They have some of the least helping associates who don't give clarifying answers and directions! And wait until you have to make a payment- you will get a runaround non-stop. Wait times for Contact Center is more than 30 minutes. So basically, the expectation is for a person to put their life on hold and wait for someone to answer. People in the branch have no access to accept payments. What a joke! I had recently purchased a new vehicle and wanted it financed through Travis which I had been pre approved for. The dealership made mistakes on completing this transaction to be financed throughTravis ,however I contacted Usha Reddy at the branch on Alamo and Peabody rd. and she was Awesome from start to finish. Not only did she correct the mistakes made by the dealership but, she contacted both the dealership and the other finance company to get things transferred over to Travis in a very timely manner. I've been a customer of Travis since the 70's and I must say that this was definitely one of the best customer service experiences that I have had. My wife had been a member for a number of years but I had always been on her account. We never really used many of their services until we stopped by this branch and met Nicole. We explained what we were trying to accomplish and she explained all of our choices and set me up my own membership. She helped us accomplish what we had been wanting to do quickly and professionally. She called with updates and has followed up afterwards to make sure we were happy with everything. We have never had a banker take such an interest in our business! When we decided to open an art and framing gallery in the Solano Mall, I reached out to Nicole via email. She got everything together for me to come in and sign the next day! We work with many banks but hadn't utilized Travis for anything other than an additional checking account until we met Nicole. I initially wanted to open up a checking account. She gave me some information on refinancing my car, she looked up the value of my car, I qualified! She also recommended me to use the equity from my car to be able to consolidate some of my debt too. (Which I had) I never knew this was an option!! I've been part of this credit union for nearly a decade now and at first they were a very good and reliable but they've gotten worse every year. I struggle every time to get their atm's to accept cash and recently the machines have started rejected checks too! And no matter which location you go to the staff works at the speed of slow at best. The final straw for me however is how they've handle a recent fraudulent charge on my account. As soon as I saw it I went to the branch that same day and reported the charge. They gave me a new card and said they could remove it once it wasn't a pending charge and to go ahead and call the official hotline for fraud charges to open an official case. I did exactly as they said and two days later the charge was gone, my account was no longer overdrawn and I thought everything was dealt with. Fast forward a week and BAM the charge is not only back on the account but Travis MOVED MONEY from one of my savings accounts to the checking account to cover this already reported fraudulant charge!! I have NEVER authorized Travis to transfer money for me and I've told them at least four times NOT to cover overdrafts and I do not have overdraft protection. So back I go to reporting this charge and the bank says they're working on it and it will be removed within 10 days and the money returned. Here I am past 10 business days and nothing has changed. The issue wasn't that there was a fraudulent charge, it's that they moved my money unauthorized to make a charge that had been REPORTED clear anyways. This credit union disappointed me, my debit card was stolen and when I called to report it stolen they closed my card which was great but when the Repersentive told me that my new debit card will come in 7-10 business days this was about a month ago she never ordered my new debit card and then they tried to charge $15 me to send me a new card through expedited mail. I was shocked that they wanted me to pay for their mistake! All they could say was they were sorry and that there is nothing they can do. I work nights and don't have time to go into one of there branches to get a new debit card. So disappointed . read more

Right now, January 2023, they are offering a CD @ 4% APR, 10 months, new money - which means it has to come from outside TCU. This a good rate. However, I was not able to complete the transaction online. Although the Application process was fast and seamless including an electronic signature, I ran into a snag trying to fund this account. My local bank was not on their drop down list. There were no instructions about what to do in this case. I spent the next 5 business days calling TCU for instructions. I had 12 phone calls over 5 days and was given 3 different instructions by various TCU employees. What frustrates me most is TCU does not appear to have one process that all their employees know and guide clients. In the end, even though I have mobility challenges, I went in to a local branch - Benicia - and received the best customer service! I was able to open the account even though it cost quite a bit of frustration up front. read more

About 1990, my wife and I opened an account with Travis FEDERAL Credit Union. I cannot say enough good things about THEM! At some point, they changed their name to Travis Credit Union. That's not all they changed. First, in my opinion, Travis went from a friendly, caring, low cost place to do business to a business that charges a fee for just about anything and everything they can. And as far as caring? Forget about it. I stopped financing my cars with them years ago, then moved my home loan to Pacific Service (lower loan rates, friendlier people! just not open on Saturday) about five years ago. We still have a checking account with Travis, as they are located close to our home. When my grand daughter wanted to open her first checking account this weekend, we did it at Travis because she wanted to. We gave Travis a chance to show us their excellent customer service! But, my grand daughter made a mistake on the paperwork (she is 16). We had to go back to get it corrected. When we arrived, we asked to see the person who had helped us the day before, this was at about 3:50 p.m. They asked us to sit down and wait- so we did. We sat and observed as the teller line increased from 3 people to about 8 or 9 customers and stayed that way for about a half hour. I took a picture of it, as I could not believe that no one from the desks in the main area got up to help the tellers with the long line of customers! I guess that is business as usual for Travis. You want to do business with them? You can wait. And we did too. After a little over 45 minutes, at around 4:30 p.m., I asked a teller if we had to see the same person we had seen the day before, she said no- but you will have to have the actual social security card, since a mistake was made the other day. My grand daughter had not been advised of this and had taken a picture of her social security card with her phone- she did not have her actual card. I thanked the teller for ONLY MAKING US WAIT FOR 45 MINUTES to tell us that. I told her we would be back another day. My grand daughter wants to do business with Travis, I told her she should find another credit union. The point is, the staff at this location is sorely lacking in customer service training, or they just don't care- fault the management team at Travis for that! The person we were waiting to see should have referred us to another staff member after about 10 minutes. I did appreciate the looks of concern from some of the other staff members who noticed us sitting and waiting, long after other customers who came in after us had been assisted and left. But, sadly, none of them knew what to do. read more

Ridiculous fees and rules. They have great auto loan rates that's why I went with them but I have never run into stupid regulations and fees like they have. First they wanted to charge me 15 dollar fee for using a debit card with a different bank. Who else chargeds 15 dollars for that?!! Second they tell me they can't make a principle payment over the phone their system won't allow it. B.S.!!!! I have to call back after it posts and re direct the payment to the principle!!! Yea right. Then I tell them the amount. They tell me the limit is 2500 for a non scheduled payment from A bank card! My last loan was through carmax I could make a principle only payment from any bank at any amount no fees no bullshit rules! I doubt I will use travis again. Bottom line of you like to get things paid off early and be responsible with your finances this credit union is not for you they try to make it difficult so they can squeeze every ounce of interest from you. read more

I had a account transaction to settle and customer service by phone and this branch failed miserably. I called customer service who recommended I make a payment in branch to avoid additional fees. I visited this branch and the teller was great, but he said there was a problem that needed to be addressed with a new acct rep. The rep we met with was not the epitome of customer service. We wanted our acct fixed, but this rep kept focusing on the problem rather than solutions. This rep didn't engage with us at all so it felt like we were being scrutinized and judged. It was past closing and after failed attempts to focus on a solution we left and opened an account with another credit union. I've only banked with credit unions and Travis placed odd restrictions on members such as ATM withdraw limits that were significantly lower than others. I'm glad that I met with this particular rep bc they made the decision easier and I'm not looking back. Waaaay to go on customer retention. read more

This is absolutely the best place to get your mortgage and/or refinance. Travis was recommended to us at my work. They helped us to refinance our loan. Everything was very organized, and closing cost and all fees were zero , as promised. We switched from RPM mortgage (and also from BoA), never looked back. These are people who keep their word to the letter! All emails are answered immediately. Highly recommend them. We used Eleazar "Sonny" Yambao, when he was away, his boss was extremely helpful.
