Despina and her team made the magic happen day after day. We covered the Peloponnese, 4 gorgeous islands, 4 ferries, one in-country flight, 9 archaeological sites, daily tours with trained guides, and visits to local farms, wineries and museums.
After months of conversations with My Big Fat GreekTravel Agency to plan our trip in detail, we started our journey in Athens, at an awesome hotel with a view of the Parthenon.
We visited Cape Sounion, the Acropolis, the Parthenon and the Acropolis Museum. The history, ruins and views are stunning -- as is the food throughout Athens. We were happy to meet upon the first day with Eva, the queen of Greek cuisine!
After Athens -- an awesome city with great Metro service and super walkable -- we rented a car and drove across modern highways to Nafplion, Epidaurus, Mycenae, Agamemnon's Tomb, ancient Olympia and the sacred site of Delphi. Our local guides were all very professional, mostly licensed archaeologists who kept us spellbound with their historical knowledge. With thousands of years of history, you need someone to orient you to the ancient sites and mythologies.
Our trip started out rainy (big storms all over), so we were in close contact with Despina to rework some plans to accommodate the weather. She was always there to help fix the problems that inevitably arise on a long trip -- hotel snafus, ferry delays and so forth. Incredibly, her team seemed to work 24/7 throughout our trip to get us ready for the next day with meeting details, museum passes, driver/guide contacts and tour vouchers.

Despina personally knows most of the drivers, guides, hotels, car rental agents, museums, restaurants, farms and other touchpoints. We felt welcomed wherever we went. She called in favors, got us transfers from ferries to hotels, and cheerfully jumped in when we had questions or needed anything.
Even more wonderful is Despina's determination to make this the BEST TRIP ever -- including passionately encouraging us to visit places we didn't have on our "must see" list -- for instance, Santorini. It's a hugely overcrowd summer tourist destination, yes -- but its beauty, landscapes, ocean views, white "cave" residences and churches are stunning. So glad we did not miss it, Santorini is extraordinary. Thanks, Despina!
Greece is SO WORTH visiting, but you'll want to be prepared, have guidance and advice. We stayed in hotels from classy boutique to rustic and simple, but everywhere we went, Despina and her team were at our side, keeping us on track by phone and text. She even made us some dinner reservations at restaurants known for exceptional Greek cooking.
