I've always planned my family's vacations myself but after researching travel agencies, I decided…read moreto get some quotes. Magical Travel Partners was the first of two agencies that are specifically devoted to Disney destinations and after comparing the the offered perks, I chose to go with MTP. The process started out well. My agent replied to me promptly and had answers for most of my questions right away. I started planning a long time in advance so that I made sure that we would be able to secure all of the reservations that we wanted. During the first couple of months, I changed up our itinerary probably 4 or 5 different times. I got quotes for 11 people in two rooms. Then people who I thought could go couldn't so I rearranged things every time my family changed their availability. My agent was on the ball and made adjustments to our quote every time. Our agent was able to secure all of our park tickets accept Universal Studios and get us reservations for every meal at the times we had requested. They even got information for me to be able to purchase advanced tickets for Finding Dory at the AMC Downtown Disney for the night that we arrived, just after the movie had opened. I had to purchase the Universal Studios park tickets online and print them out but that was no trouble. Up until this point, I was super happy with the service and the perks were cool too. All of our materials as well as the perks and some extra gifts came in the mail about a week before our vacation. Sounds amazing right? We were very impressed and we headed down to California on June 25th 2016. Here's is where things got disappointing. I was told that our hotel provided free parking to guests and I admit that I failed to ask our agent or mention that we were traveling in two vehicles but on that same hand, she knew we had 7 bodies and didn't ask us either so when we arrived at our hotel and checked in, we were informed that we would have to pay for the second car. That was a $19.00 per day for 10 days charge that I had not budgeted for. The hotel that is "only a block away from the park entrance" was just over half a mile. I don't know how they measure blocks in California but that's not what we expected at all. We did have passes for the ART (Anaheim Resort Transit) and thank God for that but that was still a pain on most occasions. Most of my grievance from our vacation was with the hotel and if you're interested, you can read my review of the Cortona Inn & Suites. The problem that arose with MTP over the hotel and all of the issues that we had to deal with was that because we had booked our vacation package MTP and we had prepaid for the package, the hotel was unable to refund any of that money to us to compensate us for our troubles. They said that we would need to contact MTP for refunds and they even warned me that this is nearly impossible. Once a travel agency has your money in their hands, you won't see it again unless you buy travel insurance and somehow need to make a claim however if you survive your vacation without valid reason to make a claim, kiss your money goodbye weather you are happy with your results or not. I ended up needing to book an extra night at the hotel which meant paying an extra days parking as well so the hotel manager was willing to refund me for one or the other. I expressed how I felt that we deserved both but he wouldn't budge. After we got home from vacation, I contacted the owner of MTP Mike McVey and told him of our issues and asked him to refund some of our money but he was just as unwilling as the hotel manager. His loophole was that we had made a last minute decision to bring my 2 year old grandson with us and that meant we had 7 people instead of 6. I told our agent not to notify the hotel about the extra tiny person because that would have screwed up our entire booking and we would have had to book two rooms instead of the one suite. I couldn't afford that but supposedly, that one action voided our contract with MTP. I was never informed of this until after we returned home and Mike McVey's final correspondence with me was, "I agree that you should definitely work with our competitors in the future. You have made it very clear that we are not the ideal agency for you and that you are not our ideal client. I hope Ears of Experience is able to meet your expectations. Thank you again for making us aware of your issues. If you would like for us to write up a contract for the extra party member, let us know I will see if they hotel would be willing to provide compensation". This guy has a lot of nerve! Like somehow drawing up a contract for a 2 year old and probably paying for said contract would somehow grant me a refund large enough to make it all worth it? Sounds like a dupe to try and get me to pay for a 10 day vacation for a 2 year old after we had already been there and done that. Not to mention, telling me in not so many words to get lost. I don't recommend MTP!
