All in all, a very wonderful stay at this hotel. We came in for 5 nights during Thanksgiving and…read morethis was the only hotel in town with a working indoor pool, hot breakfast and good reviews. The desk clerks were extremely friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was consistently good and had tasty options. There was not a great selection of fruit, only oranges and red apples, but there were rotating hot options including: egg & cheese foldover 'omelettes' sausage patties, german style breakfast sausage, scrambled eggs, ham and mini bagels with egg, cheese and ham.

I had a decent experience with the staff (mostly friendly) and shared space cleanliness here. The…read morebreakfast staff was awesome, friendly and even made a vegetarian request for me. However, after staying in Room 222 for three nights, September 9-11, 2019, I woke up with numerous bites all over my body. I checked the mattresses and saw nothing to the naked eye, but still got bit. I made the manager aware on the morning of the 12th at my check out around 6:30am, and he said he would investigate. As the hotel was booked by my partner, she contacted them and let them know about it in their "survey". It has been two weeks and they have not gotten back to us. Here are the pictures we offered the hotel staff and some as of late as the bites are still healing. I am still awake most nights itching and putting medicine on my skin. DO NOT STAY HERE.

1st off Let me say this Inn Is a one night stop over over and. It is not a place you want to…read morebring the family and grandma to spend the week. Things to do here are very very limited. However there is a really nice locomotive on display that makes a really cool picture. Other than that not much to see. NOTE: this hotel is not the "RED LION" any longer it is currently named the "THE LA JUNTA INN" and the restaurant is no longer "DICKIES BBQ" its now the "YACK & THE YETI" ( Indian, Nepal and Tibetan food) This INN is currently (9/30/22) Under construction and is about 85% complete accordin the work crews. The rooms have been completely renovated and maybe one of the most comfortable beds I have ever laid my bones into. Obviously the rooms were very clean. The restaurant was clean and the staff was polite and efficient. Our waitress was from 15 minutes of our hometown in NC so that was cool. The meals were properly prepared and were very tasty, the breads, or "naan" as it is called, was also very tasty. After a week of elk hunting and being very very tired the good night's sleep was a dream come true for sure. All I could think about after that wonderful night's sleep was getting a fresh cup of coffee. My wife and I got dressed and headed down to the lobby for a muffin and some coffee, oh my, I was needing a large cup of coffee so bad. I grabbed the largest cup I could find and stuck it under the coffee pot and wallah nothing came out. Seeing this my wife went over to inform the attendant that she was out of coffee, the attendant cocked her head to the side and looked at her and said yes I see, I need to put another pot on. I went outside to wait on her to fix another pot and my wife stayed inside. The attendant NEVER made any attempt to start a new pot of coffee, instead just fiddled around her counter. While writing this review I thought about the owner from Denver who was investing tons of money trying to attract new guest. If he only knew how his employee was acting why he was not there. Maybe she is his daughter, that would be the only way I would ever allow her to stay there and work. Overall a nice clean hotel to spend 1 night in and decent restaurant to get a plate of food it's me. Just don't expect much from the attended at the morning breakfast.

RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!!…read more This place is an absolute dive! We never saw housekeeping. They were blamed, however, for having "picked up" my iPad when I advised the night auditor that the iPad had been stolen from the room. As it turns out, the Night Auditor was the one that lifted the iPad and he had stowed the iPad under the front counter. Now let's talk about the room. Water out of the sink came out in a trickle-at best. Maintenance was never able to fix it, and it was not due to the water valves being turned down. The room at, one point, had been broken into as evidenced by the cracked door, and the damaged door jamb. The gap under the door was large enough for a mouse to crawl through. The pool was empty - hasn't been filled in almost 2 years. The only way to get ice is at the front desk, and they do not stock coffee for the coffee pot in the room. We made reservations on May 10th and provided our credit card to hold the room. Instead, they charged the account. We didn't have a choice of other hotels in town because they were all full for the Memorial Day weekend. When we arrived we explained the accounting error and that we told them that the card should not have been charged. We also advised them that the other two parties in our group would be paying for their own room. Today is May 28th, and we are still out over $500 for the 3 rooms because also collected for the other 2 rooms from the others in our party. This was our second, and LAST stay at this Roach Motel! UGGHHHHH!

The pool was not enticing me to get in the water and that common area definitely needs work. Was in town for a client meeting for work, and apparently everyone was in this little town of La Junta the same day I was. Couldn't get in with Holiday Inn Express, nor Hampden Inn... both of their front desk had recommended this place as a last resort as they have walked through the new updates. I love that there are Keurigs in the rooms with K-cups ready for you to use for a morning brew, with a selection of regular coffee, decaf coffee, hot chocolate, and earl gray tea. The service at the front desk was amazing as well. Met another 'Local Girl' from Hawaii working the front desk and she was sweet and nice. She had a little trouble with the reservation as they are transitioning over from TL to RLH, and the reservation wasn't sent over properly. But she made it happen for me and she took care of me. Thanks girl! The only thing was that I found hairs on the pillows and the pillows smelled a little bit like greasy old man.... I'm assuming that either the pillow was forgotten to be refreshed, or that it was refreshed and still smelled bad... *shrugs* Good thing the towels were fresh and I just used that around the pillows as I was only staying one night. Definitely look forward to the updates they are doing to the hotel and had overall a good, quiet stay. Beggars can't be choosers. :)

No problem, but when we get our keys, we don't get a nice holder - no, the manager years up pieces of paper and puts them in a plastic holder. We get to our rooms - no shower curtains, and our requests for towels went ignored all weekend. The shower curtains were added the next day when we requested them. Finally, all weekend, the outside trash can was filled with pizza boxes, and the fire extinguisher box next to our room was empty. The lobby coffee machine was old and dirty, so we never got any coffee. Now the rooms were decent, the are remodeled nicely. But management needs to improve here. No housekeeping crew came in and cleaned our room or refreshed linens. We recommend only stay here if the other hotels on the west side of town are booked. We typically stay at the Holiday Inn Express, but since they were booked solid, we ended up here.
