In terms of music, the bar plays whatever the bartender/anyone-who-stands-behind-the-bar feels like playing, so it can be the weirdest of combinations. I've never seen the bar packed - it's usually filled with just a few people chatting, drinking beers and playing board games. That's right - the bar has a wide assortment of board games you can choose from. My friends and I opted for an unexpectedly exciting round of Jenga, which went on for much longer than expected and attracted the attention of most people at the bar. Took a little bit of time but eventually they seemed to warm to me. One huge biker dude took a shine to me and kept joking with me all night in broken English. At the end of his night (which was quite early) he swooped in and gave me a kiss on the cheek and wished me a lovely vacation. The bathrooms were cleaner and nicer than the cobalt/funkys/astoria from my dives back home in Vancouver - seriously Vancouver, get your shit together - LITERALLY. Drink prices seemed super reasonable to me. But really anywhere in Europe they seem reasonable to me. Bartender didn't really know how to make a whiskey sour and what I ended up drinking wasn't that fantastic, but I think that's my fault, what the hell was I doing ordering a whiskey sour at this place? Beer seems to be the best bet. The place filled up quick and seemed very popular with the locals and tourists alike.

The bartender wasn't particularly welcoming, when I asked if I could sit at the bar, he pushed the reservation sign at the seat I was pointing at towards me from what I remember... point taken that yes there was a reservation sign but I just wanted to check since I wasn't sure... perhaps I was perceived as rude since I asked in English, or coz I wasn't local and didn't know, or may be that's in keeping with the vibe of the bar, no idea. Obviously can't comment on the drinks, but yep, there was no effort made to accommodate me, though I also didn't ask. Oh well, too bad.

On summer, they have a place for people to barbecue and make fire. On wintertime its cozy indoors. The orange lighting give a particular atmosphere to the whole place, sometimes it makes me feel as if I was in some sort of medieval castle. The staff is really friendly, the beer is good. Something told me to turn down a different way than I usually would. Walked by this little gem, and I knew I had to go in. Something about it. The bartender Stevie was extremely beautiful, and very trippy. She was super friendly and an absolutely unique gal. I told her how much I love the bar, and she said that I had to go and tell it to the man who was sitting outside. When I talked to him, I instantly fell in love. I knew right away that I had met someone that I wouldn't ever even come close to meeting again in this life. What a brilliant and sweet man he was, and I'm sad that I forgot his name. He sat and chatted with me about life there for the past 40 years. He speaks pure art, not a typical conversation, which I appreciate. He deserves to have a book written about himself. Excellent music, I just wish that I had some mushrooms while I was in there. But then again, you don't really need them. And besides that, I probably wouldn't have made it home. Had a couple of great beers, one of the most amazing hours of my life, and I can't speak more highly of this place. I wouldn't have minded staying a few more hours, but being the lightweight that I am... wouldn't have gone on so well to end nicely.
