In fact, I'd even hesitate to call them pizzas at all, but round flammuchen with sauce. That said, it's still quite good. There are only two lanes so it's pretty small. After playing we sat upstairs and had a light dinner. The pizza was perfect for sharing and tasted pretty good. The crust was light and good. Also the service was super friendly and the bartender that got us set up downstairs showed us how to play and use everything and was very helpful. Ambiance upstairs was candlelit and really nice. We love Canadian stuff, and they had us at pizza, maple syrup and chilli. We undertook an epic hunt to find Ron Telesky, and boy are we glad we did. Unsure what to expect when we descended the stairs to the basement parlour in this lovely neighbourhood, it was like someone delightfully quirky had popped a pizza kitchen in their studio apartment. You watch as these experts deftly dance around with the dough and pile it with unusual toppings like sweet potato and red onion, tandoori tofu with mango and peanuts... and the bases are huge, crisp and thin, equalling slices bigger than your face. So that's the pizza. But what else? The accoutrements! The fabled maple chilli sauce lives! It's in a huge bottle on the counter you can help yourself to, alongside the most delicious, sweet, let-me-take-the-jar-home honey mustard goop. This goes great with the pizza, and indeed the rocket salad you can have at will too, as well as sliced black olives. The pizza comes on paper plates and you can take it over to a little patio table, a wooden log, and sit amongst the vinyl, the antiques, the moose paraphernalia... The other big brownie point scorer from Ron Telesky was the drinks fridge. As soon as I spotted Swiss classic Rivella I pretty much squealed. The boy's favourite root beer was here in abundance too. Call us happy campers. Cheap as chips, uber-friendly and delicious, no wonder we made excuses to come here twice. I wanted to fly Ron Telesky in its entirety back to Manchester. Run by a family from Naples, the place charmed from the moment we entered and the wood powered oven cooked our divine pizza margherita. Who knew that a little tomato sauce, buffalo mozzarella and basil was all you really needed on a pizza? Oh right - the Italians. This place reconfirms that all you need is the right ingredients to make transcendent food. We ordered another pizza with salami and, olives & artichokes....but that margherita stole our heart. Its pure creamy goodness was exactly what we wanted. And their spicy oil was even better than XXL - an impressive feat. However they told us that the table was only for an hour because there was a reservation after us so we felt somewhat rushed given the cooking time of the pizza. I had the quatro pizza while my vegetarian buddy had one that had grilled potatoes on it. One thing I found bizarre was that I saw people making their own salads. I don't mean like a salad bar, but the restaurant gave people a bowl of lettuce and then gave them the vegetables to slice and dice to add to the salad. If I wanted to make my own salad, I would have made it at home.
