Do NOT use this company! Hired them to transport my mom from Washington state to California. Upon arrival in California they slammed my mom's gurney into a door jam causing 2 very large skin tears. When I brought this to the company's attention, they reviewed the situation, and claimed my mom scratched herself with her other arm. DISHONEST company - and UNSAFE! Do NOT travel with TransMedCare or trust them to take the care and precautions necessary for a safe, long-distance trip with your medically fragile loved one. We had a TERRIBLE and UNSAFE experience with TransMedCare traveling from Bismarck, North Dakota to Chicago, IL with my 86-year old father who recently suffered a stroke. TransMedCare promises comfortable and safe transport for you and your loved one in "a state-of-the-art medical transport van featuring all the comforts of home" with "experienced medical teams fully equipped to handle the special needs of the elderly and disabled", but we received anything but that. First, the van arrived 90 minutes late from the updated arrival time (which was already 90 minutes past the contracted time) without any communication about the van being 90 minutes further behind schedule. Then, when I tried to call the helpline listed in the TransMedCare contract and on their website, there was no way to leave a voicemail or successfully reach someone to find out the status of our transport. This significantly increased my father's anxiety and left us not knowing how to properly time his evening medical needs and totally in the dark about the status of our trip. Originally estimated as a 14-hour overnight trip with an arrival time of 9 a.m., the trip ultimately took over 24 hours, and they did not arrive at their destination until 11 p.m. the following night. Despite having the battery replaced just prior to arrival, the van broke down in the middle of the night and all were forced to stop at a hotel for several hours as the crew addressed the problem. While I certainly understand that cars and vans can have mechanical issues, it was later revealed by the crew onboard that they knew the van's issues were not adequately addressed and that TransMedCare management had deferred needed maintenance of the van, prioritizing profit over safety. It is clear that this van should NEVER have been engaged in long-distance travel with such unaddressed mechanical issues. Further, while the crew was addressing the van's mechanical issues, they simply left my brother on his own in the hotel room to fully attend to my dad's medical and personal hygiene needs with no communication about the plan to continue the trip or otherwise for hours at a time. In addition to the mechanical issues, the van was clearly not outfitted for cold weather conditions and was literally freezing cold. The windows on the inside of the van iced over, and the crew had to replace water bottles mid-trip because those kept in the vehicle near my dad and brother froze solid. The patient care was substandard and at times unsafe. The crew was not at all equipped or prepared to change the dressing on a wound of my father's, despite my disclosure of the need to change his dressing during the trip on TransMedCare's medical information form. The CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) on board was apparently unauthorized to dress the wound, and my brother had to change the wound dressing himself in order to ensure it was clean and tended to per doctor instructions. Overall, the CNA did not at all provide the "constant care" promised by TransMedCare and only provided assistance to my dad when specifically asked by my brother. In fact, due to the freezing cold temperatures in the patient compartment of the van, she avoided being with my brother and dad unless absolutely necessary and stayed in the warmer front compartment near the drivers. I could go on about more unsafe and upsetting aspects of this trip, but I hope this review is enough of a warning to anyone reading it. I strongly advise you not to travel with TransMedCare. Doing so puts you and your loved one at risk. read more

My brother and I hired TransMedcare to get my mom from Illinois to a new assisted living place in Georgia. Amanda was our point person to set everything up and she was fantastic. She responded quickly and amenably to all our questions. The transport staff was amazing; Kia, John, and Al. Our trip was last week and I rode with my mother so this review is fresh and authentic. The staff work as a team and communicate effectively to take proper care of the patient. My mom can't do much on her own and she really said that the nurse Kia was compassionate, patient, and professional attending her needs. John and Al, the drivers, made sure we stayed on schedule but were also understanding if we needed to stop for the restroom or anything else. They really do all they can to be flexible and put the patient's needs first. If anyone needs to transport a senior with limited mobility and medical needs I highly recommend this service, unless the loved one you want to transport can't be in a situation with any bumps. The only down side was being in the back was really bumpy at times but there is nothing they can do about that. If the roads are bad it will just be bumpy. There were several times when a bump caused the TV plug to come out and Kia was right on it coming back to plug it back in. Having a screen that you can log into for streaming options and watch shows was a lifesaver. Our trip took 15 hours and I think we watched about 9 Hallmark movies and the Westminster Dog Show finals. That made it more manageable and served as a welcome distraction. My worst fear before doing this trip was that the staff would be unreasonable or cranky (there is one Yelp review that gave me that impression and found it not to be true for us) and they were the opposite; positive, professional, upbeat, caring, and trustworthy. read more

I never thought this was a service that my 2 sisters and I would ever be in need of but...... our mom was living in Florida and had major set backs after two knee replacement surgeries and other complications and we needed her to get back to GA so we could take care of her. We had no other option but to hire a medical transport company. I received a couple of quotes from some other companies but TransMedCare had the best rate and honestly the best representative of the companies I spoke with. Andrew was quick to respond, follow up and put me at ease that our mom was going to be well taken care of on the ride. They were on time, professional but yet I felt very caring and sympathetic to what my sisters and I were going through. She arrived safe and sound and if anyone ever thought about needing this type of service I would hope they would hire TransMedCare. I am so grateful to TransMedCare for transporting my father, 90 years old, from New Jersey to Wisconsin. Andrew, the owner, responded quickly and answered all my questions regarding the transport. The crew, Jeremy, Wayne and Dana, treated my dad with compassion and delivered care with competence and the utmost professionalism. We chose the larger transport, the Ford E450. I needed to transport my father who suffered a massive stroke to the DC metro area from Miami so I could have him close to home. This company offered me a great competitive price and then price matched a competitor to beat them by $50. They showed up on time and took great care of my dad on the nonstop 17 hour drive. They allowed me to ride along with him providing me a space to sleep as well. All of my meals were included in the fee. They even have a tv/DVD player onboard. Awesome service, highly recommended. Excellent responsiveness when scheduling and assuring all your needs and your loved one's needs will be met BUT what actually happened was quite different. The medical attendant never divulged what her credentials were, her thermometer and blood pressure cuff were not functioning well, and she did not have backups. She used a blanket to cover her head much of the ride. With each large bump it sounded as if the television was going to come off of its mount and hit my ill family member --- but before setting up the transport, we were assured that the shocks were good and the ride would be very smooth. We were told there would be a bedside commode on board for the patient. It is there but still in the box and very little room to use it or a safe way to transfer the patient to it. The negligence we experienced was inexcusable but never addressed by the owner and actually avoided in our attempt to express legitimate concerns that were written off as "feelings" ( areas are noted below with ****) : ****Fatigue and pain are dangerous for driving safety. One of the drivers had a toothache and reportedly had not had a day off in two weeks. I woke to him driving to fast in poor weather conditions and his mother praying for safety over his shoulder. ****A smoke free environment (including second hand smoke) for a patient who still recovering from pneumonia (which they were fully aware of) is basic health knowledge and protocol. There is no way to ask someone who needs nicotine to refrain without some serious fallout... yet we were stuck and tied into a contract at that point. ****A safety belt that is functional and available to patient under all circumstances even when the air mattress is full inflated and in place is a basic safety requirement. Instead, I held my family member down as the vehicle hit bumps and arrived very sore and bruised. Yes we arrived from point A to point B but the comfort and medical parts of Trans-Med-Care were mostly absent. This situation was unacceptable but had to be handled calmly in the moment, as did the other circumstances that were dangerous, unsettling, unprofessional or a posing a medical risk, to not upset my ill family member in transit. You are at their mercy and stuck inside a moving vehicle with staff that may or may not be fully rested or prepared. It was difficult in the moment to address the concerns but in retrospect more alarming as we added up each of the circumstances that we were subjected to. It is like going to a restaurant, eating 3 course meal, and ending up with food poisoning that lands you in the hospital. You are so distracted by your family member's suffering that you cannot even begin to address the shocking things going on around you. Choose more wisely than we did! read more

I utilized this service to transfer my brother from a Rehab center in Ohio to a Nursing Home in New York so we could have him closer to home. It was an 8 hr overnight transfer. From my first contact with Andrew to meeting the crew when my brother arrived at the nursing home - everything went smoothly and without incident. The crew was excellent. My brother felt safe throughout his trip. The cost was the most reasonable of the 3 companies that I contacted. The crew called me upon their departure and made sure I knew how to reach them and they helped my brother call me during the trip. They collected up all of his belongings and made sure that everything was satisfactory upon his arrival before they departed. I am so appreciative! read more

This company and staff is amazing! We needed to get my grandma (99 yrs old) transported from NY to FL for rehab. From the first call to investigate if they could handle this transport to meeting them when they arrived in Florida, the entire transaction was beyond professional. The care given to my grandmother was outstanding. Their costs were great. We received and were able to make calls the entire way, which was 2 days. The peace of mind we felt was incredible.
