So if you're worried about being attacked or just being alone no need. The officers are there 24/7. I was out getting my daily 3 mile run in. Upon arrival there was 1 woman walking the trail. 5 laps around equals 1 mile so 15 times around is 3 miles. It's an easy course with a slight elevation... The kids have a playground with Monkey bars and swing. There is no access from dusk to dawn.... You may rent the old gym for various events from parties, receptions, repast , etc. Call the City Hall for more info If you ever visit the City of Oglethorpe and you're here for a week or so, visit this park. I'm not big into aviation but my Dad was an Air Force lifer and I'm so glad that I decided to go with them. It was a rainy day so we only saw the main building but that still took almost 2 hours. There is SO much to see here. You move at your own pace and take as much time as you'd like. I think it might be nice if they offered tours since it's three stories, but it's definitely not hard to figure out and you aren't missing things if you don't go in a certain order. My favorite was the third floor where you could look outside and see all of the air planes. (There is no longer a cafe up there. There used to be!) We had all age ranges from 75 to 11. I think everyone enjoyed it. The gift shop was really cool and I was able to pick up some "souvenirs" from my home town. We did not encounter many employees except when we entered the building. That lady was super friendly and helpful. There was plenty of parking and this is FREE...so please check it out!

There is a lot to see. The first entrance has 3 floors to visit and there is 2 more hangars to go and see all the old planes and on top of that there were multiple planes across the property where we can drive by and visit everything. I would recommend to visit this place where you have a full day. On a Sunday it's open only from noon to the 5pm. Over all it's a great experience and there are friendly veterans who could help you where you want to go and any questions that want answers for it. Will come back again for sure with bigger group.
