They don't have silly things like saunas and fruitbars and bla bla bla. You don't go to the gym to make use of its cafe and have a smoothie while you read the paper at one of their tables! NO! You go there to get RIPPED.. or fit. Basic Fit gyms are without bells and whistles! You can pay the least by paying for the whole year upfront, or pay a tad more and do it monthly (automatic payments) with a one year contract, or pay even a bit more than that to pay monthly without a contract, at all. These are the only three options you have the rest is all-in. They even allow you to lend your card to someone else! As long as you're not working out together at the same time. One card per person at a time. You can, however, invite someone to workout at any Basic Fit for a week at no charge to either of you as an introduction. I don't live anywhere near this particular gym but I go here now and again anyway because, a) I can, and b) my workout buddy goes here. About the equipment: I'm pretty noobish at weightlifting as I've always found it boring (but I'm trying to change that perspective). I'm more of an adventure/violent sport kind of guy. What I do know is that they pretty much have all the equipment you need for a serious get-ripped workout and that's the most important thing about this particular Basic Fit. They also have a lot of cardio machines pointed towards some big screens. Most weights are labeled with both lbs and kg. It has separate sex changing rooms and showers, it has toilets, and it has lockers at the entrance that you can use with your own padlock. That's it. So BASICally all you need to get your workout and to get FIT. Basic Fit!

Furthermore you can get a TechnoGym key to measure all your gym activities and download all these information all from the Cloud! It is really very clean and they have a glass ceiling which make the gym very open. They have great music playing through their Bose boxes, so my iPhone was this time not needed even! Next to this they have 5 different sauna's. I have tried the infrared sauna, which I have never tried it in my life.... it was a good experience though! :) They have electric lockers - so no coins or keys needed! Only thing is that they have a number on your lockers, so you need to memorize where you have put your stuff. Also they have great showers, a big drench shower to relax after the gym & sauna! Minus point is in my opinion of course the prices to be member of this luxury gym. You need to pay around 80 euro's per month, but you will get all these luxury in return. Another thing is that they do not have that many group classes. ps. they even serve SLA food for dinner and have great protein shakes!

I told her it would probably be a lot like SoulCycle. She was like, "What's SoulCycle?" This explains a lot. Rocycle reiterates SoulCycle's playbook in a way that will be surprising to Americans; SoulCycle of course has _many_ similar competitors in the States, but because it (SoulCycle) is so famous and defining the competitors try to have their cake & eat it, too: they want to trade on the success/phenomenon that SoulCycle is still most-associated with starting, of this particular approach to spin classes, while also _clearly differentiating_ themselves in some way. Rocycle doesn't have that problem. It's just SoulCycle. The lights. The yoga vibe. The scripts of self-empowerment and self-ownership that the teachers throw out there; the pacing and structure of the workouts, focused very much on pedaling to the beat and then breaking down for different pace sections, then the arm section, etc. The thing is: I liked it more than SoulCycle. I think it's a little better at it. The teachers I had were particularly good; the vibe was particularly good; the facilities were excellent. I mean so basically look tl;dr -- if you're in Amsterdam and looking for a spin class and you like SoulCycle you might LOVE Rocycle. Enjoy!

The studio is immaculate, they provide shoes, towels, and have showers. It's very modern and clean, and they have a juice bar in the studio. The instructor I took was Hern, and he was amazing! The music was lively, fun, and the entire workout was engaging. It's a lot of core and upper body while cycling, similar to Soul Cycle. It is all rhythm riding as well, which i love. They have an online deal for first time visitors, which is 8 euro for one class or 18 for three classes. If I lived here, I'd definitely spin here. The classes were crowded as well, so make sure to book in advance. If I'm ever back in Amsterdam, I'll be back!

Always in very spacious buildings, lovingly appointed to look sensibly chic for a gym, visited by a wide mix of people. What I also like is that they renew their equipment and keep the existing equipment in great shape; this particular location seems to have just taken delivery of some new Kinesys cable equipment which is a lot of fun to use for strength training. This gym is situated on the south side of the WTC station, has always had friendly staff when I visited (it does help that I speak Dutch, I think), a quick entry procedure, and nice towel service. You will need €0.30 to pay for the electronic locker, but you do not need to bring a lock. The equipment area is big and ready, and the sauna (Mixed! Overall it is an okay gym for me. I go between 9 am and 12 pm. I have my own exercise routine, so I opted out from the premium plan that has a trainer session once every 6 weeks. There is a juice bar by the entrance; solarium; plenty of group classes. But there are few things that just makes me say "huh?" - one of them is showers. I have no idea why there are no shower doors? Also why the heck I can not control the water temperature? It runs too cold for me. I do feel miserable every time I take a shower.... :( I do like the core area, would like to see better yoga mats - current one looks like they have been through the war zone.
