We were staying at an airbnb nearby so we walked there one morning. There are swings, slides, climbing structures, and it is also accessible for kids with disabilities. There's a little shade from the shade structures but there are not many trees. A small pavilion is another option for some shade and rest. The water fountains could use some work. Kiwanis Park is a nice way for kids to burn off some energy with a great view of a lake!

The dock is safe and goes out a good distance into the water. No swimming is allowed. While we were playing a collection of homeless people started to migrate to the pavilion. The pavilion loaded up with their belongings as they set up camp. I'm not sure if this is normal but since we are not from the neighborhood we will not be returning.

The charming downtown area contains many restaurants and shops in historic buildings. Today the park still serves as a gathering place for the community. In 2007, Downtown City Park was redesigned to enhance its recreation and beauty for residents and visitors to the city of Auburndale. In the eastern corner of the park is a number of umbrella shaded picnic tables and an engaging playground that is fenced in for safety. The playground area has an artificial turf, cushioning surface to protect little knees and bottoms. The playground has a multilevel tower with climbing structures and two slides. There is also a play train which is a nod to Auburndale's history as a railroad town. Civil engineer Louis Randolph Mclain, who was working for the railroad on the extension of the system between Lake Alfred and Saddle Creek, is credited with founding Auburndale. The historic 1927 Seaboard Air Line Rail Depot is in the northern part of the park. The park also has restrooms and a historic bandstand with a stage for community events like the annual CityFest music festival and other events throughout the year. In the western part of the park is the Rotary Butterfly Garden with butterfly attracting native Florida plants. This well maintained and family friendly park offers a great place to spend time with family. Whether coming for exercise, play, or a special event, this wonderful spot capture the spirit of historic Auburndale.

The bands had windows each played music then another band came set up and the music lived on. The weather was Absolutely gorgeous. Plenty of free parking, sitting, wonderful community event.

It's small, but has enough things to do to stay the whole day if you want to. We went on a Friday and liked that it wasn't crowded, but enough people and kids for our son to interact with. They have multiple rides, a rollercoaster, an air balloon ride, a boat ride and a dinosaur ride. They have meet and greets/times and we met George, our son was so happy to meet him! The area has a playground, a sand area with buckets, although I recommend to bring some of your own sand toys if your kids love playing with it, ducky pond where kids can catch the ducks with hooks, a bike race area. Our son had so much fun at the bike race area, he spend probably over 30 minutes doing that. There's also a small kids area that's gates, with tents and mini bike ride ons. Then they have a water splash area which is really nice and you can definitely spend quite some time there! They have a shop where we bought our son a peppa pig swim outfit, a cafe that looks like a cool diner inside, we love the colors and style of it! They don't have too many options for allergies, but you can bring your own food which we did for our son. My husband went in and had a pork sandwich, he said it was really good. If you really take your time there, do the rides multiple times ( we did one parent each so we went in multiple times ), do the show and meet a character, ride the bikes, play in the sand, make good use of the splash pad and enjoy a meal, and not rush everything, you can make a whole day out of it. There's enough to do there. For the summer, they have shade coverings around the park, which we really appreciate! We enjoyed our time there and will definitely come again!

This part of Central Florida has many lovely parks and I discovered Lake Shipp Park while returning from a visit to the South Lake Howard Nature Park. Lake Shipp Park was built in the 1960's on 4.41 acres. Attracted by the beautiful view of the lake which I think is the best feature of the park, I stopped to check it out. Lake Shipp park is popular with anglers who can fish from the elevated boardwalk that leads to a fishing pier. Pumpkinseed, Chanel catfish, bull head, bluegill, redear sunfish, largemouth bass, and redbreast sunfish have all been recorded in Lake Shipp. There is plenty of room for fly casting. The park is also popular with boaters and jet and water skiers. A concrete boat ramp was deepened in 2011. Other park amenities include a playground, restroom, bench swings, picnic tables, and a covered pavilion that can be rented. On the day I visited it was being used for a birthday party. Lake Shipp Park is adjacent to the Sertoma Park baseball fields for further fun.

I really appreciate all of the shade and my kid enjoyed the play area. Overall, a nice park, that could use a bit of an update. We will be back.

There is an obelisk in the playground in the park dedicating it in honor of August Heckscher as "A token of his love for the children of this community" 1926. Today Crystal Lake Park is still a gathering place for the community. The city-owned park contains recreational facilities and space for picnic and barbecues. Park amenities include grills, picnic pavilion with tables, restroom, sand volleyball court, and he fenced in playground. I love all of the oak trees providing shade and dripping in Spanish moss. The children of Lake Wales have been enjoying this charming play space for generations.

It was fun to try it and it's definitely a nice change from the park on a hot day. My son loved some of the crazy slides. There is a lazy river and lots of Lego water stations the kids can play with. That being said, there are a few downsides: the location is not ideal. It's all the way at the end of the park so you have to walk through Legoland and back when you go. What makes this even more tedious is that there are no towels provided so you have to get all that stuff yourself through the park. The chairs were a bit run down. Only one food booth with limited options and they weren't accommodating at all when I accidentally ordered the wrong fountain drink. I doubt I will come back. The hotel pool is more fun.

Originally named the Supreme Lodge Benevolent Order of Brothers. the name changed to Kiwanis in 1916, after a Native American expression: "Nunc Kee-wanis" which translates to we trade. The organization was formed to help people professionally and personally through business networking but has since grown to include helping children and communities. The Lake Wales chapter of the club was established Nov. 1, 1926. They raise money with a pancake breakfast every March and use that money for many events and projects in Lake Wales which includes a children's Christmas party, the Lake Wales Christmas Parade, a children's Easter-egg hunt, Terrific Kid presentations, and the physical and monetary support of more than 30 children's and community-oriented charitable activities including this park. You can find the Kiwanis Park on the south side of Lake Wailes. Park amenities include 4 picnic tables, 2 pavilions, 2 grills, ball fields, a playground, restroom, and skate park. This park serves as a gathering spot for the community to play, practice sports and team dance and cheerleading groups, and have celebrations. The park was very busy on the weekday early evening I visited. Like all of the parks in Lake Wales, the Kiwanis park is very clean and well maintained.
