This location is way better than the Woodward location! I enjoy going here but cannot say it everything I thought it would be. Still trying to find the one thing that will keep me coming back...so far the chicken and beef burritos are the best thing I have had here...and the cereal is actually pretty good but not enough to keep me coming. I have not giving up yet...hopefully will find something dreams are made of so I can change my rating. The produce section though is slightly above food bank quality...but there is a Kroger across street. read more

I was giddy as can be upon hearing the news that a Trader Joe's was FINALLY coming to the east side. Trader Joe's boasts lots of organic ingredients and unique gourmet-y extras I don't readily find elsewhere. You'll find an impressive array of cheeses, sauces, juice, and wine, and their frozen section is a fun, chilly journey loaded with unexpected treats. I like the great return policy, the down-to-earth vibe, and the general air of earth and health consciousness as well. Favorites: Mochi ice cream balls, Their brand of Oreos, the Blueberry Estate juice, the delicious peach mango orange juice, the boxed Creamy Corn & Roasted Red Pepper soup, and more. What could be improved upon: It's widely known that the produce is subpar in both selection and quality. Why should this be, for a health-conscious place in a crop-rich state? As you shop, be sure to read the labels. It's so easy here to get caught up in the healthy vibe and pleasant packaging, ending up with many things that aren't all that great for you. The dreaded MSG that I am allergic to and that no human should ingest is hidden in many of their seemingly healthy foods-yeast extract I have my eye on you! Many Indian and Asian offerings here are exact foods found at the small Asian markets, repackaged. Again, just watch the labels. Missing are staples that would make it a one-stop destination. No veggie dogs or buns? No chocolate soymilk? I've had nasty gristle in many of their pricey frozen chicken entrees. The layout is very strange. You start out in a back corner, navigating odd-angled aisles where the frozen stuff comes (and sits in your cart) before the packaged goods. The employees feel the need to feign delight at every turn. Now, I'm all for niceness in life, period! But these folks truly take it too far. Call for their hours and they act like they've won the lottery! Walk past a staff member and be jolted from your train of thought as they begin a spirited impromptu infomercial about an item in your cart. The checkout folks too often continue the hippie Stepford car salesman shtick, so overcome with joy to be ringing up your organic chicken nuggets that this over-the-top, fake pleasantness has to be some kind of company policy. This saccharine behavior frankly creeps me out and makes me (and many others I know) VERY uncomfortable. This is why I don't go to T.G.I. Fridays and the like. If any TJ's powers that be happen to read this, please allow and encourage your people to act more naturally. Many treasures to be found and savored here are worth the trip. I just thought I'd be a rabid fan and instead find myself just stopping in sporadically. read more

2pm store run and it was nice and chill. Got some new stuff and some dried mango for me and the family. The BBQ sauce the cashiers said was nice so we will see. read more

The Royal Oak trader Joe's has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Not only were they rude to the people trying to get in who were waiting outside their hours on their website were totally different than what they employees were telling us read more

I can't thank Sara in the Flower Dept enough for helping me with a fresh selection of flowers for DIY centerpieces for a bridal shower. She let me know when the flowers would be in and even followed up with a phone call. Her customer service was just the best!! We love the store to begin with, but have to say that Sara even made it an even better experience. Our guests were so surprised to know that these beautiful flowers came from Trader's Joe's. Thank You SARA!!! read more

Was waiting in line sweating with the face mask on and one of the employees cut in front of me without any apologies or explanation. There was no sorry "I just had to grab my whatever my spot was saved etc." Guess paying customers are not as important as fellow employees and when you've already waited 15 mins outside in the high heat and you then you can barely breathe with mask, you want to just go in and go out. Ask, explain, just some small gesture of common courtesy from the associate and the co-worker off work would be appreciated, entitlement is not. read more

I enjoy their products. Staff is excellent! Covid precautions are excellent!!!! Feel safe shopping here during a global pandemic!

My hat's off to Trader Joe's for doing an outstanding job with using several precautions to prevent the spread of Covid-19 (requiring masks worn properly, limiting the number of people in the store, disinfecting carts with staff at the entrance! read more

Thank god there is finally a good grocery store on the east side! Well, I guess there are a few other places like Nino's, Muelier's, Farms Market, Yorkshire Market and Village Foods but really Trader Joe's is bigger, has great prices, a great selection of ethnic foods (delicious Indian in a box!) and surprisingly good frozen foods. The only weak link is the fresh produce - okay but not great. Now all we need in this neighborhood is a Wholefoods! Heaven - but more expensive... read more

In the interest of wanting to be cool ... I want to love Trader Joe's, I really do. I do love the little newspaper ads that are written with wit and humor. I do love the location ... the village (go on ... try saying "I'm gonna head to the village to get the shopping done " ... pretty cool, right?). I do love that when you venture into the place, it feels like you're doing something good for the planet and the health of all of its inhabitants. (Ok, that's a bit strong ... maybe like you're just doing something healthy for yourself). I do love the little samples in the back ... usually some new organic juice or tea and a cracker or some small snack that they're pushing (It's no Costco, but you can easily feed a small family of three or so and ... ok, I'm kidding, take it easy). Finally, I do love the hippie-esque staff and their very pleasant manner at the checkouts. Alas, what I do not love is the regularity and speed at which the produce goes bad, the really unhealthy ingredients in some of their health food choices, and the fact that I can't make this our regular, consistent grocery store. We wanted to trust Joe and quite frankly, we just can't ... not fully anyway. We'll continue to go though because, like I mentioned ... there ARE things to love. Items that we can't find in other stores will bring us back. Plus, who grocery shops at just one place anymore? Consider this place just one piece to your food consumption puzzle and you won't be disappointed. Promise. read more

I get that it's totally weird reviewing a trader joes on yelp. But, this one is amaze. It's so clean that it sparkles and they're never out of anything I need. (I was in one on the west side of town last week that was out of kale.) So, go there. read more

my rating is due to selection compared to the royal oak store. this location is like a mini-trader joes. it doesnt have nearly as much selection as the woodward location (for lactose-free milk, cereal, yerba mate, vitamins). i love tj's but from now on ill stick to the royal oak store. read more

I really love this Trader, everyone that works here is so friendly. You can tell there employees enjoy working there. They have so many yummy goodies like there mandarin chicken, which is so yummy. Also the cookie butter cookies are delicious and I definitely recommended. Also it's nice clean. Lastly they do validate your parking, so due park in the structure! read more

Love it! My 3 year old loves to shop with his little shopping cart there. They are very helpful and I love the variety there. I wish they would bring the balloons back, my son loved them. read more

I would consider leaving my beloved home of San Diego, Ca, to live elsewhere, only IF in fact-- a Trader Joe's is within a 30 mile radius. No joke. It's been my rule for 10 years, and the time I moved to Texas, there was no TJ's, and I seriously searched for a similar replacement, but NOTHING compares to a TJ's. I am so happy that there is one here, next to my boyfriends house, who lives 3,000 miles away from me, in Grosse Pointe Woods. Maybe just maybe, I will move out here now instead of him going to San Diego! The Trader Joe's here, is just that good. read more

I love LOVE this place! I've been shopping Trader Joes since they came to the area. I think the staff is great at all the Metro Detroit locations. They are helpful, have a lot of product knowledge, share recipes and make wonderful suggestions. Also where can you go and ask to sample something before you buy it? read more

Was happy to find a Trader Joe's right in town. Not quite as large as some but has everything I need. Great frozen selections, produce, flowers...and the 'take home' meals in the deli are delicious (try the tamales and enchiladas!). I am hoping they carry a lot of the seasonal specialties for fall and winter (coffees-must get pumpkin and winter blends, teas, cookies). Parking in the back of the store is validated which makes shopping better :) read more

The staff is super friendly, the store is always clean, and it's Trader Joe's, so you know what the food quality will be. Produce can be the make or break aspect of a grocery store, but this one pulls it off. It's not a huge location, so the selection is smaller, and the rows get bottlenecked on Sunday or during dinner grocery rush. Overall, a great place to shop. If you're on a budget go to Kroger's across the street. read more

Great store, never really been crowded any time I've been there. Always find something new, and can get things I don't see in other stores. Apple Cranberry quinoa salad - cold, over by the lunchmeat and cheeses. Tasty! Beef and Broccoli in the frozen.....Yummer Pretzels with peanut butter in side....Yummerz If you don't want to park in the garage, you can go across the street. Though they do validate parking. read more

Love the Service, the people, the products and the location. Walking distance. addicted to my Trader Joe's

Some very worthy products at a reasonable price. Sandwiches and salads were fantastic but have recently become too wimpy and bizarre Putting ingredients not known to North American's is not necessarily always a pro.. Staff is very friendly and often highly, highly stylized with amazingly graphic tattoos and extensive body adornments. I heard that it was required by management? Parking attendant is a Nazi, so validate and do not forget. Be prepared, Store is clean and well stocked. Some great spices and sauces you rarely see anywhere else. Deserts are great and uniquely presented. Produce is fresh but limited due to size constraints-Enjoy read more

Yes this is exactly what GP needed, great location and lots of good deals. Though the stock is way smaller than the stores in CA they have a good selection of food and wine! I have found some wonderful wine picks for less than I pay in Napa, look around and be sure to ask somewhere there for suggestions as they are well versed in their products. They usually have a wine guy who tastes and will know what will go best with your steak in a specific price range. The staff is super friendly and they even have kiddie cars and lollipops for the kids. read more

Super clean! Love the amazing staff who are super friendly. Checking out is always a. Ice experience. I love that they have a lot of my favorite items I stock. Every once in a while they are out of my favorite smoked Gouda but not usually. They have great Parmesan and many other nice cheeses. Wine is good and great prices! read more

Ever since the new Kroger opened across the street, I began shopping at Trader Joe's. The staff is WAY more friendly and the overall ambience of the store is nice and calming. After having worked in a produce department, I can say that theirs isn't spectacular, but it's certainly better than that other store.... read more

Very convenient location! A bit smaller selection then other trader joes locations. Staff is always friendly!

I am so so so Glad we Have a Trader's in town now. There all over out west but this is a nostalgic enduring Grocer for me. The atmosphere is consistently inspiring to go home and cook up a cozy meal. Trader is IMO the best grocery model I have ever experienced. All the counter checkers are always so Upbeat (Which is so rare especially around here it seems)! Go Trader's! read more

Kinda limited selection but keeps getting better.

I love having a Trader Joe's in my neighborhood! The store is always very clean, well stocked and the staff there couldn't be friendlier & helpful. I love their policy of "try it, if you don't like it bring it back & get a refund". I have tried many things there that I might not have otherwise tried because of that policy :) The covered parking deck with wide parking spaces make shopping here in rain & snow a no brainer (they validate the parking tix too!). read more

Great employees, great environment! I'm glad there's a Trader joes near me. Great selection of meats, the store stays clean too!
