Just spent 90 minutes on hold with Ally Invest, and still no representative has picked up, so, no, I do not think their customer service is very good. Their email support is not responsive and the chat support is actually broken. They promised tax forms sometime in February just like they do every year, and today is March 1, which was the reason for my call. It's reasonable to say a minor delay could be excusable, but when there are brokerages who have a human answer the phone nearly immediately, there's no need to deal with a business who disrespects your time like this. I'll be switching to Fidelity when the time is right. UPDATE: days later and still no email response from customer service, not even a "let's schedule a call since we can't discuss sensitive information over email" type of response. read more

Tradeking was good until Ally took over. Now it's a scammer website. I had a few stocks in here and they charged me $75 because "you have been charged a non-transferable fee for a stock that is worthless in your account." They literally sold $75 worth of stock without my knowledge and pocked the money. Yeah, sure. $75. I took my stocks and moved them to a site that isn't selling my stocks without my knowledge and stealing their 'fees'. The employee I talked with, Adriana, was useless. read more

This place only has one good thing to offer. Low execution prices. Besides that, there is not much value add. I consistently put money in my account the day I would like to execute a trade and they promise that all deposits that are less then previous deposits, will get auto funded to allow you to trade immediately as they work with your bank for the actual funds transfer. For example, I previously put in 1K for trading and now want to put in $500.00 for trading. In theory I should have access to the $500 immediately. This is simply not the case and has time and time again cost me the opportunity to execute when I would like to. The shame is that TRADEKING ADVERSITIES THIS FUNDING TO DRAW YOU IN. But it often takes 2 or 3 business days for your funds to be available. It is pretty frustrating when the service promised and advertised does not equate to the service provided. In a recent divorce decree, I was awarded the joint account my ex and I have with this company. From October 2012 to February 2013, I tried to get this joint account switched into my name, but hurdle after hurdle was placed in front of me by the brokerage. Finally, they told me that they would comply with the court decree when my ex-husband signed a release form. As this was an unpleasant divorce, I have concerns the ex will not comply until I spend more money with my attorney and take him to court to get him to comply with the decree which states he shall cooperate with the transfer. In addition, the brokerage told me that upon reading the decree, they could not find where the decree gives me the account. The decree was marked with a large arrow on the paragraph pertaining to this award. I fear that TradeKing is near insolvency to practice business in this manner. In any case, it appears I will be out more attorney fees because of their business practices just to retrieve the money that I put into this account initially from my own funds. I have filed a complaint with Federal Trade Commission and with the Attorney General of the state of Washington. I sincerely hope that this line of loud public internet complaint will at least result in me retrieving my money without further delay. TradeKing, you will never ever receive my business again or receive a positive review or referral from me. I hope others will speak up as well. I'm sure their behavior is consistent. I opened an account with about 14% of my total 401 as they are cozy with VectorVest with whom I have subscribed to for years. Vectorvest is an expensive trading/data/software outfit also with an office in North Carolina and it is pretty good. Vectorvest praised Trade King and has links where its made easy to trade on the Vectorvest platform on TradeKing. Thats the good part. From day 1 I was NOT impressed with Trade King. After a few trades I could see something was seriously wrong with their quotes. To test them I laid 2 laptops side by side and checked the quotes. One was one of the BIG investment companies where I have most of my money with and the other trade king. Right away I could see I was getting stale (old-or time delayed quotes) from trade king and that was why limit orders placed several cents below the big-ask was getting filled right away. This is bad. Im loosing money right off with bat with stale quotes. I call and ask about this, and the gal says you you didnt ask for real time quotes. ASK I said? Why should one have to ask for this? They are free right?? Yes free. I cant wrap my head around this very well but they changed me to real time quotes. This should have been a given if they wish to be a legitimate brokerage in the year 2015 or 2016. They also offer so much in free trades to transfer an account which I did. Well I started to trade and no free trades. I call up after three trades and ask them to adjust them to show free. Well they cant do it right away (most any other brokerage would be able to), but they said not to worry they would get it done in 30 days. 30 days? Well 4.95 x 3 isnt enough to worry about then and there, so hey , I can wait. 30 days comes and nothing. I watch longer and 60 days and nothing. I call again and they cant refund the $14.85 still, but they can resubmit it again. Well if it didnt work the first time what makes the second time the charm? Ah but all the agents can plop into your account $25 in free trades without asking. She asks will I accept that?? Sure I said, and that worked. Just 15 min ago I had a limit order at 71.44. Bid ask was 71.43 71.44 and Im still not filled. Then I see it drop below that and still im not filled. when its 4 cents below my offer I see it fill at 71.44. So...how do I how when it was really filled? Are they filling it lower and pocketing the difference? I have no way of knowing. What I do know is that the major brokerages dont have any of these problems. So if you think you are saving $3 or whatever a trade, believe me you are NOT. You are probably in reality paying a lot more than the majors price when all is said and done with the slipplage and poor fills. I would never recommend this company to ANYONE!!! read more

Go else where. Do not waste your time with Ally. It is Ally Invest now. Ally's trading platform is the slowest (by a huge gap) among the other sites I have used (Fidelity, Schwab, Scottrade, TDAmeriTrade, and ETrade). Every time I log onto my Ally account, my Firefox browser told me that it "wait" for response from Ally site. Any action requested (quotes, transactions, balances, etc) typically comes back 6-7 seconds later. At one point, a trade confirmation screen came back more than 3 minutes after I 'submitted' a trade order. It is a pathetic and hopeless useless trading broker site, pure garbage. read more

TradeKing, now called Ally.com dba Ally Investing calls itself a broker for the millennials, but they are 40 years behind the times when it comes to IRAs. They do not allow you to list a non-profit as an IRA beneficiary, AND TOLD ME TO LIST MY OWN ESTATE as the beneficiary, then "have it dealt out in the will." 1) You just gave me tax advice 2) You gave me BAD tax advice, as this means all that money will now be impacted by estate taxes, instead of going tax free to the beneficiary. 3) You just forced my heirs to file a will through probate! All my other assets are in a living trust - not subject to probate. Went with Fidelity.com instead. read more

TradeKing no longer exists and has been replaced by Ally Invest-- My Worst Nightmare! If I could give it no stars, that would be more than it deserves. In my experience as self-directed investor, this brokerage exhibited a total absence of professionalism and its advisers didn't seem to grasp the most basic investment knowledge and its web site stock data in almost non-existent. Ally Invest is an utter disgrace in the area of customer service--they could not follow through on the most basic requests that should clearly be in their purview. It angers me that I put up with so little for so long while Ally Invest earned money on my account without it being properly earned--many mistakes and errors and broken promises cost me time and money. In fact, the site was down several times when I needed to conduct trades and transactions, again, costing time and money. After so many failures and gnashing of teeth, I moved my substantial account to another brokerage and I am so happy that I did! The depth of service, analysis, charts, recommendations and other critical data is here, plus the best of the best customer service and it opened my eyes to just how skimpy these important elements were at Ally Invest. My new brokerage is Fidelity. It even offered me 500 free trades for moving my account there. Love it. I cannot in good conscious recommend Ally Invest to individual, self-directed investors even though it has the cheapest per transaction fee. I guess it's true--you get what you pay for. However, I can highly recommend Fidelity...Best of the Best! read more

Upon transferring to their site I was immediately hit with inactivity charges and they almost NEVER execute OTB trades like the last brokerage. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! Absolute garbage. This place will cost you money. They execute trades extremely slowly. Customer service is terrible. The website is fickle, and a mistake will cost you $$. I transferred 25k for a day trade account. But upon purchasing a stock, I was unable to sell it because the account exceeded the max number of days, despite it being a day trade account. What a scam. That mistake alone could have cost thousands had I leaned heavily into the trade. Worst of all is that they make it impossible for you to pull out your money. They dont process your requests in a timely manner if at all. I had to call 5 times to get someone to acknowledge my request for transfer and then they denied me. What a total scam. Go with scottrade, or emritrade, or speedtrader, or anyone else. Do not trust these scam artists with your hard earned money Edit------------------------- They contacted me to make things right. Still wouldn't recommend them though. Thus, 2 stars. But no more than that. This is Ally Invest now and you will save yourself a lot of time by AVOIDING at all costs. Their platform is the slowest most unreliable I've seen and I have accounts at TD Amer & E-Trade and am very familiar with Schwab & Fidelity. Ally Invest quotes are 5-10 minutes behind what's happening in the market. For options is completely useless. Even for stock trades its horrible. And the platform is slowest I've ever seen. They should shut this down immediately because its an embarrassment to the Ally name. read more

My 1099 forms have been late a few of the years. They claimed to me that their clearing firm was slow, and that caused the lateness. Wish they would change the clearing firm then! In several years, my 1099 forms had errors. They seemed resistant in changing those to make them right - one year I think they did issue a change eventually, though, but another time they couldn't grasp what was wrong ... two representatives in a row couldn't remember the names of the securities that had problems, and instead keeping telling me how another security I hadn't mentioned was correct. I went round and round with them but they couldn't get ever get the names straight. That puts me at risk with the IRS when they report incorrectly and won't make the necessary change! Account switchover to Ally has been a mess for me, too. They changed my brokerage accont user id without telling me, then when I called in to find out what was wrong and they said what the new ID was, then the password wouldn't work. Big mess! I cannot recommend this brokerage any more. read more

Hi  I have been your client in the last 2 years and half....... bad "customer service" In November it happened that TK sent me an email where were asking me to send more documents, since my social security number on their side was wrong, I haven't read that email, and nobody from tradeking contact me again about that (no email, no phone call, no text message, no message on my page on your web site). Then in December I had two withdraws from my account, both for more than 5.000 dollars, the reason was because since IRS couldn't recognize my social security they recognize my account as foreign person and charged that amount. Once I saw that operations I called and I was informed about the wrong information (my wrong social security number in their file), and I provided the correct one. When I called TK for this problem (don't remember, but different time, and spending fews hours on the phone), the best answer I got was that TK sent an email (in November) (and with that was enough for them to cover their back), and for me to get my money from IRS I had to "try" get back form tax return. On top of that I got the wrong 1099 from tradeking, I called 4 times and still waiting for an answer (almost waited more than 1 month), the last person I talked told me that he can't tell me when it will be ready (the person before him, told me I should have got by a week!!!!). Honestly the customer service is very average: - I opened an account with providing: US phone number/ US address/ US employer information/ US social security number. (ALL UNITED STATE REFERENCE!!!!) - If one of this information look like wrong, AS CUSTOMER SERVICE, should contact me, and get that information? and not only with 1 single email (that guarantee them that they did their "job", but actually they didn't, that just cover their back). - i called so many times, and spend so much time, everything because they couldn't reach in other way (really? they don't get the info from your customer and don't try again?? really??) - NOW, it's me that have to fight and spend more time and money in order to get MY money back from IRS - on top on that, add that TK gave me the wrong 1099 and stil waiting for the correct one and NOBODY know when that miracle will happen. make a favor, take out the word "service" form customer service, your ex "customer" Customer service shouldn't be to resolve past problem and avoid future ones? After you get through the rather lengthy process of verifying your identity(I think they have to do this), dealing with this company was rather easy a fluid. Sent a withdrawal request to TradeKing and they did not receive it for over a week. Contacted by phone and they walked me through a withdrawal by email of the signed forms and committed to wiring the funds the next day. 1.5 hours later they "received" the initial paper request but it was already cancelled because of the later electronic withdrawal request. They then refused to accept the electronic form which they had walked me through sending and had said it looked great because it was to a joint account with my wife (we had already discussed this before submitting). The funds have still not been released and TradeKing was not apologetic at all for the incorrect information their customer service had provided me and their supervisor (Ryan Ennis) agreed that wrong information had been provided to me on multiple calls but refused to make it right. This has caused me to not meet my financial commitments. Bottom line - Poor customer service and cashiers training, uncaring customer service supervisor, no willingness to assist their customer. No ability to escalate further within TradeKing. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR IRA! read more
