I used one of the many available free use computers and printers while I waited, which actually helped me knock out a lot on my to-do list. Like another Yelper mentioned, it kind of sucks that you have to stand while using them, but then again it probably keeps people from hogging them. Once my name is called I was assisted by an Employment Counselor named Lolita who was oh, so kind and patient with me. I was so impressed by her calm demeanor and willingness to help. I felt like I was her sole appointment of the day when I'm sure she'd had many before me and would have many after. She's in the right position! I may return to use the computers. Mine is down and this is closer than the library. This was a great, resourceful visit.

After passing both courses, she said she was confident I could begin my two day internship (again, unpaid), and then start a job at $13 per hour as a leasing agent. I believe that was about 3 weeks ago, and each time since then when I've inquired she told me either she was waiting to hear back from the apartments and then later it became that "now isn't a good hiring time" for the apartment complexes. Would have been better had she told me all this before I wasted all that time. But, I guess many staffing agencies know people are desperate and are willing to put up with these shenanigans. Recommend applying here if you have previous leasing experience, otherwise it's not worth the effort, IMO.

She had something temporary for me within a week. And she had interviews set up for temp-to-hire positions not long afterward. After Amy left, I started working more closely with Lindsey. She set me up with a great temporary position. The supervisor there stopped his interviews for the position after a few days of me being on site. I then went temp-to-hire and when the time came, Lindsey stayed on him about getting me a permanent offer. I worked for that company for two years, with a promotion. But she suggested that I at least email her once a week to keep my name fresh in their minds, and check back to see if they found anything that fits me. I emailed her weekly as instructed and after about 2-3 emails, the lady stopped responding to me. I tried to call her recently and left a message with no return call back. I've worked with temp agencies in the past and I've experienced better. Other companies really work to find you something. Maybe this company didn't have many orders to fill. But either way, the communication wasn't great.
