This resort has blocked off all access to the beach including public access. At the public access entry point via google maps, I was denied entry by an employee initially and eventually allow to pass after they imposed illegal restrictions on my beach access. Specifically, he said I could not pass a stone wall on the beach used to demarcate their illegal private beach. Once on the beach, another one of their employees tried to tell me to leave and only after protesting that I had legal right to be there did he then say I could walk the beach but couldn't hike to punta dazante. We are staying at Villa Del Mar for the first time and had purchased the golf package for one round of golf. We've traveled and golfed a lot but this golf course is the best! We rented clubs and the staff made sure we were fitted with the right fit. We loved our Callaway clubs and drivers! Everything was included .. balls, tees and because we had the hotel's all inclusive all our drinks were included by the drink cart and the amazing Francisco. All the holes are beautiful with many with amazing views of the sea of Cortez and several holes right on the water! We stayed after for an amazing late lunch at the Club House restaurant and staff and food were wonderful. read more

Get to this golf course ASAP. Still seems to be a well kept secret based on light traffic. Got to meet Brad, the Director of golf, who helped develop Sunriver. Great conversation. Course conditions. Immaculate maintenance throughout the entire course. Firm undulating green complexes will challenge the precision of your approach game and welcome some links style ground game creativity as well. Bunkers were especially challenging as they feel soft underfoot but played firmer than expected. The layout winds up and down several canyon pockets providing scenic views during the entire round and #17's infinity pool green may actually fall into the ocean if you don't visit soon enough. They also have a 9 hole real turf putt putt course. Lots of fun and just as well pampered as the rest of the course. read more

Far and away the most beautiful course in 1000 miles. adequate service. If you are not on the all you can eat and drink plan at the hotel plan on paying for EVERYTHING including water after the first 500 mls provided for 2 players in summer heat. No water in the course. Seems cheap when paying 200+ for the round. Greens were just aerated a week or so ago- thanks for telling us prior- not- so they were lumpy and SLOW. Pace of play was 4.5 hrs sure to lack of a starter suggesting proper tees for players based on handicap. On this course stay off the tips unless you are scratch. Gold tees 10 or under Blue tees 15 or under Better to shoot a good score from your correct tees that hold up the course while you blow up repeatedly. read more
