It's not the largest location, and so, the selection isn't as big as it is elsewhere. The store is fairly well laid out, and sections are easy to find. It starts with baby items when you enter and works its way to the video game and electronics section at the end. For the babies, there's furniture, clothing, and care essentials in addition to the infant appropriate toys. You can sign up for the gift registry. There's something for just about every category of toy you can imagine. Plushies, books, puzzles, dolls, sports, and now, vinyl records have been added. The prices aren't dollar store level, but they're par for the course of licensed and brand name items. The video game section is decent. There's a separate counter you can line up to pay and cash out. Near the larger checkout area at the exit, you'll find a good selection of greeting card and wrapping papers and bags for gift giving. You can pick up candy and small favours, and if you don't find what you wanted or aren't sure what to get, you can buy a gift card. Even though my daughter is well beyond childhood age now, we still enjoy coming in to look at current toy items, or buy games and puzzles. I signed up for their newsletter and that's how I discovered that they have a retail location in Richmond Hill that was going to be open to the public the same time that I was going to be in the GTA, and the hotel that I was staying at was less than 10 minutes away. I believe that they have 2 retail locations (this one in Richmond Hill and one in Toronto proper). These locations open up to the public for a few months at a time, unlike their travelling sales where they are only in town for a few days. Anyway, it's a warehouse, so it looks and feels like a warehouse. Prices are ok. Some items are fairly cheap, like stickers ($0.50) and books ($2.50-$10). Others are slightly lower than retail, but not bargain basement prices. They had costumes which were the same price as Party City after Halloween. It's pretty big, and is fun to poke around if you have kids in your life. You'll almost certainly find something for them. It's in an industrial park so there's lots of free parking in their parking lot.

Unlike most toy stores, the items they sell are hand-selected by the owners and meet the present interests of modern day kids. Most of the products are good quality and stand the test of time. The store is organized by category so things are easy to find. They have quite a large book selection, educational and board games, dolls, cars & trucks, building toys, and outdoor things like wagons. Going into a toy store near Christmas requires planning that rivals the landing of a country leader into Pearson. So imagine my surprise that Mastermind is actually a different experience. The store is a coloured in bold vibrant primary shades. It does sit in a strip mall area that is normally terrible for parking. With one of the largest dim sum spots in Mississauga, the medium sized lot easily gets overwhelmed. The nice thing is that Mastermind has 5 (or 6) spots just for them only... the signs are marked off. So it's actually quite easy to find a spot. The store itself isn't very big... especially when you look east across the street and see the mammoth Toys R Us and Babies R Us. This mastermind is maybe... 20% of the floor space of Toys R Us. But what it is missing in size, it makes up in other ways. The place is super well organized, easy to spot everything, unbelievably clean, and run by associates who are fairly attentive. Everything is marked clearly with big signs and you do have a well curated selection of good stuff. They only stock well known brand names of quality and not some low quality item just to fill shelves. They have the latest scooters, science toys, build your own robots, a nice medium sized selection of really good books for all ages, the latest hot toys (I think at the time it was Fingerlings), stuff animals including the ever popular Beanie Boos, Legos (lots and lots), arts and crafts, ... you can tell this goes on and on. You can find build your own robot sets as low as $15 to large lego sets for $100 to a GIANT realistic looking 7 foot GIRAFFE at $800 (I think thats how much it was). I read her every item my sister recommended I buy for my nephew and she was very patient and kind while helping me decide on the perfect combination of gifts to make his covid birthday special. The associate, helped me go through the virtual checkout so I could use my gift card and had the gifts wrapped and ready to go in a couple minutes. When I arrived at the store I called them and they brought out the gifts and placed them on the table for curbside pickups. The service was perfect, quick, friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend this toy store. Would I go back? Absolutely! This was actually my most pleasant curbside pickup experience in all of covid. Thank you for your exceptional customer service.
