I have bought things from Toys R Us with their online service three times.
The first time one of the items which was a remote controlled boad did not work, but I managed to open it and repair with a soldering iron. Fine for me but I think less technical people would have had a problem
The second time the item came they were fine.
The third the item not work and returning them was a joke.
They basically are a model for when an old school retail company goes online and does not understand software like the modern ecommerce firms do. I order loads of stuff online and none of the other firms have been so useless with returns.
You have to email, it takes 12 hours to get a response, there is no online interface with a button to organise returning items like with proper ecommerce companies.
so have to email, giving them two working days notice.
first time courier did not come, so had to contact them. Then the second time they actually turned up.
Then 2 weeks after them taking back the package, the refund was not on my card.
Each time I had to contact them, explain things and it was a couple of emails, all in all taking up about 1.5 hours of my time! Each time I had to notice or nothing would happen, they never emailed me to confirm anything, so I had to check.
They were polite by email, otherwise it would have been a much worse experience.
They do have some good toys that are not available elsewhere, but due to how hard returns have been for me, if they are available elsewhere I would buy them from those other places. read more
