They're not a huge spot, but the owner is very attentive without being overbearing and is willing to work with you a bit on price, too for some items like back issues where the upfront investment is smaller--just be reasonable with your asks. I'm not a new comics reader but I encourage anyone who is to establish your pull folder here and help these guys' cash flow as much as possible, we need them to hang around in Lex!

"Look with your eyes, not your fingers" fell on deaf ears, but the joy on their faces made me relent on my instructions for my kids. They loved going from section to section, playing with the trains, picking up stuffed animals and making faces in the funhouse mirrors throughout. Like mentioned in my previous review, McWhiggin's has a bit of every toy you would like to find, with some circus-themed signage, oversized stuffed animals and other fun sprinkled throughout. Now, be warned that the prices are a bit on the higher end. The small dragon stuffie my daughter picked out was $10. But this is a locally-owned shop -- well worth the extra expense. First, you must call to set up an appointment to shop. The store is small so they only allow a certain amount of people inside. They have different hours as well. Upon entering, they require a face mask and hand sanitizer before browsing the store. The location is literally right off campus. Parking can be annoying in this area. There is street parking in front or a small parking lot behind the store. Keep this in mind when visiting. There are a couple of other businesses located in the same building: a Korean restaurant (delicious) and a music store downstairs. If you're looking for a fun and unique store, definitely visit!

Just came home from my second selling experience here. The drop off was alright I had to fill out a form on their tablet and then sign. It was easy. They called me within a few hours the first time and they called me the next day the second time. The first time I had a huge bag of clothing and a few baby items as well as a like-new boppi pillow and several items with tags on. I got $27 and was like hmm ok well I'll be more careful with my next time so I can get more for my items. So this second time, I brought baby toy sets that were gently used, 2 kids bathing suits both with tags on, several great condition baby toys that were hardly used. I got $8. So it's better than nothing but also it's a little sketchy. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the customer service is sub par. Idk I am going to try once upon a child, it's across town but has much better reviews.

I found just that at the locally-owned Playthings Toy Shoppe in the Westport Village! Oh how I love to support locally-owned businesses! I was pleased to browse the aisles and find that they were chock full of unusual, traditional, and more educational toys than I had found in the toy sections of the big box stores where brands like Barbie, Transformers, Paw Patrol and Stars Wars make up the bulk of the offerings. The toys were thoughtfully arranged, as if by age, and employees are ready to help with your selection if need be. Prices were in line with those of online specialty toy stores that sell these types of toys. Free gift wrapping is offered, which is a huge relief for those of us who do not enjoy gift wrapping! The prices were fair, and it excels at having educational toys and brands you might not find at the big box stores, which I very much appreciated. My son is into dinosaurs for the moment, so I went on Playthings' website and found a great set of dino figures. I was able to buy it online for local pick-up, and the icing on the cake -- I got it wrapped for free. Free wrapping is a service Playthings provides. I also want to commend Playthings on their great customer service. I ordered this right as the ice storm was starting, and they called me to see if I wanted to still pick up that day. The employee I talked to was concerned I would come out when they had closed early. I picked up the toy a couple of days later. Especially if you have kiddos to buy for, don't overlook Playthings.
